Excellent demonstration. I learned this 40 years ago. I've been teaching it ever since.
Fighting stance. Been telling my kids to stand like they are ready to avoid a punch or throw one.
100%
A gun fight is still a fight.
It makes sense, the kickboxing stance I was taught was to be able to throw weight in a punch and not fall over, a gun would work the same
This isn't necessary at all 😂 relaxed and standing normal is the correct way. Feet shoulder width apart. That's it.
I've been taking crap for years over my modified Weaver stance that was taught to me by my friend who is a retired Navy Seal. I've taught a lot of others to stand like this and their shooting always improves!! Also we all have a natural point of aim if you are comfortable with your stance close your eyes pull out you imaginary weapon then open your eyes and see where it's pointing super easy to correct your aim point! Lazy is comfortable and accurate!
Absolutely. My stance for 40+ years based on the basic fighting stance. You’re rooted into the ground against recoil plus better able to move in any direction. Thank you!!
It’s so funny actually seeing someone demonstrate the ways we got taught in the marines compared to how things are done now. Such goofy ideas.
Cool demonstration. This stance is now referred to as: The Power Isosceles stance.
This is the Isosceles stance with the non-strong side just slightly forward.
This the same stance you should have at the urinal so that someone can’t push your head into the wall or urinal pipes while you’re doing your business.
Recoil mitigation from the front or aggressive push from the rear, the offset feet prevent total loss of balance or control.
Thanks for the video.
Love the short effective episodes on topics other channels spend 30 minutes on.
...because they spend 27 minutes proselytizing an ideological dogma and 2 minutes hawking a product that subsidizes their, "unbiased" channel and 1 minute on value added content. HSP is top-tier.
In BJJ we call that base. I call it my combat and shooting base. Love your content brother!!!🤗
Same BS in ARMY 96/97/98, argued then it was stupid and exhausting trying to shoot in that stance, was pulled off to the side and got smoked, was amazing to me that the military did not understand or apply body mechanics.
I remember back in the 80s, Marine Security forces school was teaching the tea cup hold 😂😅🤣
That was how most shot then and back through history if they weren't shooting with a single hand. Pretty much, the hold now practiced in my opinion spun from the introduction of lighter polymer pistols. Basically they cycle better with a firm grip. I know guys that shoot the teacup grip today that can shoot an eye out at 25 yards. However, their follow up shots will be slower.
You got it @@UncleDanBand64.!
With a lower recoiling firearm or caliber, merely steadying the sight picture is enough.
If one needs to harness recoil, then the underhand support needs a transition to something more significant.
yeah they shoot once every 3 seconds@@UncleDanBand64
Great training tip, thanks. Just got my Najaf print in the mail. It rocks! That's going up next to my shadow box.
Same here until a friend did the same thing and pushed me.
Learned real quick to have a proper stance with a handgun.
Explain proper, please.
So if someone nudges me while I'm just standing and I "move" then I guess I am supposed to believe that after 50 years. I have been standing wrong ... this entire time...???
So yeah, please explain what the fukk all this shit means.??
Please.
Haley is the Man!
Travis still in good shape.
For self defense shooting your best bet is the isosceles stance. No hunching.
Yeah, this fighting stance BS isn't necessary.
Interesting. I’ve been saying this for a few weeks now. Just because something was taught 40, 50, 60 years ago does not mean it is wrong. Like it or not, that is the Weaver stance from the 1950’s. Maybe you could call it a modified Weaver but still….
Essentially it's the same basic stance you would assume when throwing a dominant hand punch in boxing.
Boxing is bladed (shoulders/hips/feet on a line not stacked) and the rear leg is back to do two things...make you less hittable, and to allow the hip turn in for power. His foot here is back but his hips are UNDER his shoulders. A better martial art stance to think of for correlation would be Muay Thai.
@@benjaminlanzotti1374 I've done a lot of Muy Thai training so it's actually my instinctive fighting stance...now that I think about it you're correct...the classic boxing stance has a more rotated hips structure in relation to your opponent that doesn't crossover as well to shooting.
So many want to teach competition stance, people like me are more interested in defensive shooting, so this stance is to me more rational and natural.
What the hell is a competition stance?
thats some rad shit right there travis! keep up the good work man, big fan of ya!
Keep up the good work 👍🏻
RAD stuff sir!
Man was given a lot shit in Corps for calling out that stance. I hated it. Always did my own thing.
All of this assumes you get a choice of the environment, movement, threat location, etc. Works great on a flat range. Would love to see evidence that this is important/repeatable in self defense or police context.
with so many variables is there proof for either stance?
Evidence? Yes, plenty. Proof? That's a lot harder to evaluate.
Evidence? Just look at USPSA shooters. They don't get into "fighting" stances 😂
Hahaha yeah that is exactly how the navy taught me. And it always felt wrong when I had to shoot more than 1 round. This is so much better.
yeah, I relealized somehting was worng when I first started to rapid fire.
Hayley... I have several of his original inforce WMLx lights, and I have also had similar and same training as he did. He's legit. I'd listen to him over Costa with his c clamp crap and Tim gun control Kennedy and James Jaeger any day of the week... Semper Fi Marines!!!
My stance for the longest time.
What stance do you use when you are knocked on your ass or back? 🤷🏻♂️
Don't do that.
There is no real shooting stance when moving shooting around objects laying down etc.
Bingo.
In a gunfight nobody will care what stance or grip you used.....only who won is important!
YUPPPERZ
The old 2 finger push drill boys. It’s a classic.
Toes, hips, fighting stance/gun fighting stance...Get athletic. Load your springs without the stress monster-induced musculoskeletal deficiencies that may affect the point of impact. Apply the principles and find 'your' stance.
Those ma boots and pants
That's great, if you have the time and mental acuity to actively achieve such a stance. As humans we naturally stand squared up to whatever we are dealing with. Usually with your dominant foot slightly behind your non dominant.
There's practicing with the ideal stance, and there's accepting that an ideal stance is unlikely to be the norm. If you can shoot accurately while moving, while seated, while prone or supine, then stance doesn't mean shit. Not a bad idea to know this and learn it. Just don't expect you'll likely achieve it in a gunfight.
So basically it’s a normal boxing stance
ew a serpa holster
Don't abuse it, it'll be fine.
Never have I seen video of a defensive or police shooting where the stance is in play.
It's all posturing and theatrics. Stand solid ( best in that moment )and shoot the fukking gun.
The tactical military application of bio mechanics as it relates to the reaction of firing the pistol....... blah blah......Blah
Yeah, there's never been a police officer who has fired his pistol while standing.
Excellent point.
You're so smart.
Please, keep posting comments.
Sir you need to follow what the “reproductive sport physiologist” on staff said for the most biomechanically effective fighting stance before you gun fight or else what are you even doing?
Relaxed, knees bent, wide stance. Thats it. This "fighting stance" isnt necessary. USPSA shooters shoot from all different types of angles and this doesnt work for that. Its extremely limiting. This guy is living in the past. Yikes.
Imagine forgetting that there are types of shooting other than USPSA. Try running a 12ga without a good stance. What is shown in this video is applicable to everything from 12ga to full-auto.
I would demand a full refund , wtf? For five year old brains !!!
Fortunately, you don't have to worry about a refund as you couldn't afford the training in the first place.
Yeah, they spent half of the first and second days have us sitting in classroom to talk about ill relevance crap (did you know that your dominance eye looks straight at where you look while your other eye have to cross over to it?). Range work was mostly theatric around the diet El Prez. Oh and after outshot Haley and Nate, Haley forgot all about his bet for a full discount.
Just of those things you did and years later you look back and wonder “what was I thinking?”. Well at least it was only $800 + ammo and gas.
Then your brain is almost ready, yes.?!
@@Johnny_Cash_Flow You want to pay for this outdated training? 😂
@@BullseyeBallistics-kf1jw Please explain how proper stance is "outdated training."
I fucking hate the stance some idiots want to see from me. In the German army we call it the shitting fox stance.
Knees over toes...Nose over knees....Be athletic. If you had to run from 1st to 2nd base or cover a punt/kick-off, you would never have your center of mass past your ankles to get knocked on your A@#!
The frequency you insert F bombs in each sentence, it's a proven fact that makes shooters listen to you more!
It was bio mechanically proven that for every F Bomb use the information retention rate increases by 5%. This is no where near enough F Bomb for the optimal 200% knowledge retention.
What a stupid statement
I was taught in the marines a modified weaver stance in the 80s, what there teaching now just dosent seem right to me
