You and Josh are my favorite "professional" yugioh players so glad both of you are far from quitting. Josh's reaction to Jess's vid was great. It put everything in perspective from a rational point of view.
Don't worry guys. Gambling and shock collars are coming into yugioh
Gambling is already in here though
Josh is way to emotionally attached to the game to be objective regarding this games downsides.
Yeah, watching his response, i was really surprised tbh.
I've never seen him act like that before ever.
I even get where he's coming from cause i've had similar experiences with yugioh but even for me i can say the game isn't exactly going in a great direction so i've effectively moved on unless something significant changes (really unlikely cause it's konami)
Ah yes, and the people who are so mad that they're quitting are perfect logicians and good faith conversation partners.
@@jkid1134 not sure what the point of posting is other than you're projecting your own insecurity or stroking your own ego. Should we assume you are all the things you're espousing or are you in fact a real bad faith actor who is dismissive of people's personal experiences butting heads with konami's direction with the game :)
@jkid1134 Nobody said that. Josh defends the prices with the ridiculous argument that players shouldn't enrich themselves financially. But firstly, nobody ever asked for high, financial gains, its is more about exclusive prices which should at least feel better then a stupid switch and secondly, it's also not okay for Konami to enrich itself at the expense of players. For example, prices in the TCG that are 5 times higher than in the OCG are simply not justified. And it's just a disgrace when you get 10 switches for the value of the winning deck. YGO has the reputation of being an extremely complicated and extremely expensive game. If you don't offer anything even to experienced and good players, the game simply becomes more and more unattractive in the long run.
@@ThiloNorris yes I watched the video too
MBT: didn't you get the memo?
MBT is so proficient in reading the meta changes he knows you will quit
There's literally a IT Crowd episode that sums up this whole "I'm Quitting Yugioh" drama cycle. 'When Aunt Irma visits". Basically, a guy steals PMS thunder of their boss and posts it on the internet. Now all the guys and nerds think theyre PMSing. It turns into a clown show.
Prizes in Yugioh are just sad
The biggest clickbait is that he puts himself on the thumbnail when talking about pro players quitting
No one can quit something that changed your life.
But it is what it is.
Good one Kotton🍿
Already subbed, hit like instantly, leaving a comment before the video starts, and going to watch in full! This is truly a treat! Can't wait to see it.
We can't settle for just prizing it top 8 as well. One piece has different prizes for top 512, 256, 128, 64, 32 and even 16. And for top 8 you in a single regionals you get more than a whole years worth of 1st places in yugioh tournaments.
For those that don't know one piece top 8 for a regionals or treasure cup is usually worth around 15k in prizing. Even for top 64 it's usually around 800-1600. Konami needs to do much much better
Bad argument
@@DMCEagles05 it's not an argument
@milospavic8378 800-1600 usd/euro is not worth the time when you are splitting it amongst a team. Maybe walk away with enough to buy a value meal at a McDonalds.

Sad to see you go, good luck in your future endeavors.
Hard to not see MBT in a little bit of a negative light when looking at the initial thumbnail. How disappointing.
Seems like the thumbnail was changed at least. Still though. Why make a thumbnail so purposefully misleading? lmao

What are your thoughts on MTBs videos Jesse? Ive been playing this game for years, I’ve got no words what to say.
“Im one of the best in whatever i should get paid” those people have a lot to learn about life
fr, legit a card game hobby.
Joshua said the same thing 🤣
SWOLELAX THE GOAT! He’ll get you those views
Hey Jesse I heard you were quitting. Is this a video in response?
Why does one think someone with the last name "Rothschild" would have the majority of yugioh players' interest at heart.
I saw the video last night thanks for the clarification.
What I wonder is WHY MBT calls it a scheme if its WELL KNOWN for many of years that prize support is downright abysmal... Schemes are usually secretly done without anyone knowing... :-P
Actually everybody just taking the fame from this, nothing more, as Jesse said..
You can actually make a living in an E-Sports team versus i would say ANY trading card game. And in E-sports you dont blow your money on the recent meta. Though you train a lot to keep your skills on point
eSports have sponsorships outside the company of the game. So you're making your money from said sponsorships. Not the game or the company that makes the game.
@@DirtCheapFUincorrect
A friend suggested getting packed lunches for prize support and it's the most genius idea ever! Don't give us packs give us the eggwich!
I like how MBT and Sam both used a lot of pros who didn’t even mention they were quitting in their thumbnails for their respective videos
They should make diffrent art of popular cards and give them out for prizing like a full art card or starlights in alt arts but make them playable so its actually useful and people will want it driving the price up.
I always found it crazy I had to sell my Yugioh prize if I wanted to make money from a tournament
I'm so sorry you're quiting Yu-Gi-Oh, may you find peace moving on.
Is billy brake quitting, I thought he already did, he must be stuck in quarantine.
Just make prize cards as actual existing cards but alt art, full art! For f sakes
Man I quit yugioh every week before I go back to the shop 😂😂😂
I love the ramp up though
Yeah like I commented before, TeamSamuraix posted a video about this and had you in the thumbnail too
I'm sorry. Playing a hobby, as a team, is not going to pay for your lifestyle. The moment people think that they're racing to the quitting line. Seriously, if a Top Player thinks Yugioh should pay their bills. Yugioh needs to pay the bill of everyone on that team that. Now, if the people, the players, could convince more sponsorships to come to Yugioh, then that would change things abit. Emphasis, on the people not Konami, cuz Konami is making your cards, paying for events and paying your rent or paying off your student loans.
Ps I play another Tcg that has simliar prize pools to Yu-gu-oh no cash prize, prizes are limited cards or mates but there is one huge difference one plays for travel cost to the events
I will never quit yu-gi-oh nah that one of my childhood card games
Wow Jesse. I found you from your content with same. It's heartbreaking to hear that you and your whole team are quiting. I'm not sure if you will move on to hearthstone or be one of those dirty MTG players. But I wish you luck even if you become another slay the spire streamer. Sorry your youtube career was short.
I’m tired of the “pros” getting mad that they arent getting paid enough. Like bro yugi-tuber is not a job. Plus just because someone makes content and goes to events doesn’t categorize them as an automatic “pro”
The trending topic is “yugioh-quiting” now every content creator has to run to make content on this trendy subject. All theses “competitive pros” don’t even make competitive content 95% of the time.
Bro is stuck in 2005
Competitors are mad they dont have sufficient motivation to compete at a high level being that competing at that level and doing well earns you no reward. Thats the point. Not a salary, weirdo.
@@MegaMetal962005 you could be way more ballin as a pro back then, prizing actually had high turnover rate and was worth big money, mainly because the game was fresh back then. Bulk was a lot more valuable as well.
Surely the reason that Lorcana and One-Piece’s prize cards are worth so much is because people are “investing” in the first ever prize cards from a new game
These people are probably aware of how something like a Crush Card Virus can cost as much as it does now and they see themselves as getting in early on something that they hope to 10x on
The 2000 dollar argument is so stupid. You dont buy fiendsmith snake eye this late into the circle.

@@Realblack_m0nster cycle my bad. I mean the deck is about to get hit and who buys the complete deck at this point in time. Let alone in max rarity.
Some of these calculations are often pretty exegerated. That doesnt means its cheap but 2k ? Come on.
I feel like this happens every three months in yugioh. There’s always someone complaining about something and the entire community has to make videos about whether the game is dying or not.
If I was on the outside looking in I would have assumed yugioh has been in its death throes for the past decade.
He said: "BEST players"*.
Thank you for everything you’ve done for the game Jesse 👌
I personally don't get why there should be a difference from 4th to last place, I don't know of any other sport nor game that does that (not saying there isn't I just personally don't know if it).
But I have never heard the national football team complaining about not getting trophy's for getting 7th at the world cup.
Edit: I know I'm biased, I come from competitive 40k where even the competitive players play for fun and bragging rights.
It is very common in sports that have 1v1s to have joint 3rd place (ie 3rd and 4th valued the same).
But yes after 4th place its kinda whatever.
I don’t even play modern Yugioh and I have that guy blocked on Twitter for my mental health lol
My favorite part in all this is that everyone is hyper focused on Prizes which dont even impact 99.99% of the playerbase. If people wanna complain, talk about something that actually impacts EVERYONE in the TCG aka the Prices, not the prizes lol.
I really don’t think making “better prize cards” is a solution. Imo prize cards being sold at high prices already makes them pretty worthless because at that point are they really prizes? Or are they just roundabout ways of giving prize money? They’re virtually just vouchers at that point that are being paid for by whales.
A big apology to your two mothers that were scared by this.
The worst thing about this MBT guy is he doesnt even play the game
Sad to see jesse quit yugioh
I blame Kevin Tewart for this. He's a money-hungry individual who likes to milk the YGO players by advocating the need to buy YGO products instead of YGO singles, but instead printing cards at high rarity and resulted in pricing spike. If anything he's at fault here
Hey Jesse, where do I find your coaching
The only thing MBT needs to quit is stop bringing it up magic the gathering in his videos acting like it’s a far superior game and it doesn’t have it own issues
MBT and the word pro should never been in the same sentence. Man is Farfa tier bad.
Oh wow I just checked and he actually changed the thumbnail. I guess he was getting too much flack for the clickbaiting lmao
Why the Dutch angle my man? Fix your camera tilt
This game needs a reset or a seasnal-Rotation. This is jsut fucking stupid what is currently going on. I would do a Wild-Format where everything is allowed and a Rotation-Format where specific sets with specific cards are allowed. Otherwise we need a NEW Master RULER
Less competition for the others.
Having to sell your prizing to make your money in a TCG is embarrassing. I’m so glad I play Pokémon.
Personally, a free trip, treated well, and entry prizes is more than enough. Literally any major competition outside lala land of tcgs, theres a top 3. Thats it. Athletes in the olympics train for years...for a CHANCE at a medal. Congrats on making it to worlds, but there shouldnt be participation/consolation prizes for losing when we're talking about being the best of the best in world.
looks like he's the voice of every pro player xD jk jk, man you're amazing xD!! literally your videos make me want to make me face this meta with my rouge decks xD! ofc most of us never though u would quit xD! thx for clarify man!!
Hypothetical question/idea:
If Kazuki Takahashi (THE GAME'S CREATOR, R.I.P. btw) specifically came out and said something along the lines of "I don't want YGO to have cash prizes because I don't want the game to feel like it's being played for money"
... Then WHY THE FUCK! does Konami TCG take cards like the JP Mulchummy Purulia = $2 RARE.... And then egregiously rarity bump the same card in the TCG to a $50-$100+ SECRET RARE ONLY?! 🤨
THAT'S what the actual problem with this game is.
Fucking FIRE, ALL of the Konami product people who think this type of shit is okay.
Nobody in the OCG is complaining about their products' rarity distribution... Because it ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE! 🤦🏻♂️
Revenge for the skibidi edit
This comment section is atrocious...
Glad I quit, Jess is right
I really hate when you (in general) say that playing a card game, even topping a tournament, shoul reward you as a job. Extreme thought: "people who think that should DIE...". Instead making money with content creation about the matter is totally a whole other thing.
The fact that Jess was a best exxagerating does cause issues though. Because if she wasn’t being honest about that, why would we think she was being honest about the prizing at a YCS or Nats?
I get the implication but nats & ycs prizing aren't disputable facts, they're well known to reflect her statements. However, She was disingenuous about "walking away with nothing" from the worlds top 8. She got 5K+ in prizes & entry as did everyone else who didn't win. Her entire video was an overexaggerated mess and her personal opinion are subjective but her bending of the truth and generalizations arent
Im starting to REALLY dislike yugi tubers. Its all regurgitated content and "yugiboomers bad"
Did u just dig urself out of a rock just now?
I imagine its hard to make content that feels new when the game itself feels stagnant and dull.
We all know you aren’t quitting Yugioh because you have no life outside of this and no spine to actually boycott konami
Only people who have nothing else to live for continue playing, so Konami will never respect them and neither should we. It’s pathetic to even be playing, let alone begging for money. Get a job and let the kids play this game.
Sorry Jesse, but you've quit now, it's been decided for you by the MBT industrial complex.
Why are you the most prominent face on there?
Teamsam used you on the thumbnail too yet that's ok?
Jesse’s the final boss of YuGiOh, he ain’t goin nowhere 😂
Still loving Yu-Gi-Oh refardless as a casual 🫴
The "I left empty handed" quote is literally just a lie. She received a prize. She also could have received additional prizing for performing better and making top 4. The idea that somehow it matters that specifically top 8 didn't qualify for additional prizing is completely arbitrary.
MBT comparing the prize card value with Lorcana is also dishonest as Jesse points out in the video, and the clickbait thumbnail is also dishonest.
Everything about this debate is ridiculous. Its a few specific people among the already tiny percentage of the playerbase that tops large events whining that they don't get paid more for participating in their hobby, and lying to make their gripes seem more legitimate.
If you're only going to reward TOP4 might as well just make the top cut only TOP4.
Gabriel Soussi and Jess both got 1st and 2nd place respectively at Swiss and they both got knocked out by 7th and 8th place on TOP8, and they get nothing out of making top-cut at goddamn WORLDS, how is it okay?
@emanuelvmm "oh I came in 1st in the preliminaries to go into the finals as the top rank...but I lost in the first knockout round, so I still deserve a medal right?" That's the issue. Does it suck? Yeah...but sorry you lost in the knockout round. Literally every competition known to man at the highest levels don't have consolation prizes for early exits in knockout rounds. Beauty of playoffs. Anyone can beat anyone.
@@warriorofgod2700 What? Even in yugioh if you lose first round in top-cut of a YCS you get ""at least"" a playmat, and if you get 1st place on Swiss nowadays you get a Giant Card.
@emanuelvmm ok? My point still stands. Each tournament tier can do what they want. What I'm saying is that people want acknowledgement/a prize for literally everything. Is going to worlds a huge accomplishment? Yes it is. They got a free vacation, and a grab bag of stuff worth a decent amount of money. But the big prizes at the grandest stage should literally be unique, and only for the top 3. You don't see Olympians complaining they got nothing when they lost in the knockout rounds, even though they made it through preliminaries, which let's be real....that's what Swiss is. Preliminary rounds for the knockout rounds/top cuts. Lose with grace and accept the fact that you lost.
Theres a reason why top cuts arent limited to just 4. It's a spectacle, and since konami wants to treat the game like an e-sport, you want a knockout tournament with, AT MINUMUM, 8 players. Have more variance and "excitement"
@@warriorofgod2700 My brother you can't compare Yugioh to the Olympics, almost everyone watches it, and if you win anything there you become recognized and a hero for your country, and even If if you don't people appreciate your efforts for representing your country. If you ask any person from your country about their sports legends they can probably name a few even if they never watched it, and it's because they're successful either in the Olympics or in another famous sport in the country. I'm not even watching the Olympics and I know by the news every single athlete that is doing well there or even close to doing well. Now if you ask YUGIOH players to name like 2 yugioh tcg world champions, they'd probably struggle to answer.
In yugioh, recognition you get is infinite times lower, because it's extremely niche, so your effort needs to be recognized another way, If yugioh had NO prizing whatsoever "like the Olympics", "except" a medal for 1st-3rd and only had like a trophy for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, there would be like 40 people attending YCSes and stuff
Bro pls use a digital avatar or some 😫🙏🏿 I really wanna watch your videos 🙏🏿
its literally a hobby, mfs tryna act like ygo is their forced job 🤣 you play it for fun as a hobby and they're nice enough to make tourneys for it. where does this entitlement come from?
Mbt providing free content for everybody lol
😂 So Buffalo Bill quits, and it causes everyone to believe that the game is coming to an end. Who the hell is that stupid? In 25 years, has the prizes ever been decent for this game? No, stop taking it so seriously. People think that they can make a living off playing a hobby, which is stupid.🤣
And one more thing you made the decision to spend the money why should they kunami give you money for spending money on a hobby. My issue with all you pro players whining complaining about price support is you're doing it to stroke your own ego you're not doing it because you would be like all it would be really neat if Konami did that. No you just want to stroke your egos. You guys sound like every single bad guy from the Yu-Gi-Oh anime at least the ones that don't have powers.

The sacrefices argument is so trash.
A sacrefice is not one if you get something in return. I play kendo for 16 years. Made the national team cadre 3 times and the national team that actually competes at europeans/worlds once.
I train all the time. Didnt meet friends all that much. Had huge travel costs etc. Never once did i think i demanded more other than the fullfillment to fight at the highest level with my country's flag.
That doesnt mean i wont like having travel costs etc. and i also get that konami is bigger than my national kendo federation. BUT you dont attend high level tournaments to get shit. You try hard to actually play on that level. The fact you play worlds is the price. Imagine being on feature match etc.

Poker, the ultimate card game IMO, has prizing for top 48 in the WSOP. I think card games have this kind of prizing because of the high variance so it’s not really fair to compare them to other competitions in this regard.
