My real fear is that in 2 or 3 shots he had his bare feet on top of the cooler. Wash your hands, open cooler with foot funk all over the lid, and make everybody a sandwich sounds like a good time.
I agree. Keep on doing voice overs, they add to the videos and tells a better story. If you were watching a nature show without Morgan Freeman narrating, you wouldn't know why the big kitty is trying to catch the black and white stripped horsey. I'm just saying, I like you explaining the back story on your videos.
I’ve been suffering from depression and this video is a nice reminder that everyone is human and very little is actually perfect. More about doing it than doing it perfectly. Thanks for the motivation to get out of bed today.
So true man, I struggle with perfectionism sometimes, but it’s like when working to make it perfect is making you less happy than the consequences would, there’s no point - just don’t worry about it and try to enjoy the experience
Making your decision on size is probably the smartest thing you could do. It puts you in a place where you know your starting point and what you are comfortable maneuvering in, and with!
Amen to that, myself I ended up with the 136" wb high roof, same exact ones you see the U.S.P.S. driving around in for my build. I've owned 20'+ long trucks before, and I swore never to get a vehicle that size again. So far haven't regretted my build yet. Have everything in it except batteries or a shower, so it's either my super quiet 1600w generator or plug in at a campsite.
My wife and I bought a camper when we lived in the UK. Prior to buying one I thought of camper vans as being for old people. It was the best decision we ever made. We toured all over the UK and Ireland and gained a new found appreciation of the beauty of our homeland. We also took it all over Europe in summer and winter. When we moved to NZ we shipped it over, and toured both islands. My daughter was even conceived in it. We still regularly go on trips with our daughter. It has took us to amazing places we wouldn't have seen otherwise and brought us so much joy.
Because of your videos and enthusiasm for the love of riding, I found a love for mountain biking and got a bit of my life back dropping 35lbs so far. For that, thank you
Man your production and editing is getting tight! Nice work. Awesome video - this is super helpful for those of us dreaming/considering a van build. Thank you!
Most notable on why the ProMaster is better than others is because it js front wheel drive. Most, if not all, other vans are rear or all wheel drive, which makes for less room height wise.

One thing i think you should add to your awesome worktable is an out folding extender to the table. This will allow you to use it for more stuff when working and for your buddies while your eating or hanging out and so on. I think you could do with some cool cabinets above your future kitchen area. looking forward what you decide to do with your cozy van.

I have wanted to live in a tiny home on wheels or a modded camper for over 5 years, especially with foreknowledge of the trials and tribulations surrounding modern home ownership and mortgages. Do you miss Sheila? I own a 2007 "Sheila" and still love her although mine is white with a sunroof. Almost got rid of it when baby #2 came but glad I kept it.
This is the first time I've heard about doing custom van builds. This is really fascinating. A lot of the solutions Alex came up with (including the sink he later installed) remind me of the design choices that go into making a sailboat. In fact, I get fond memories of my family's 1972 Ranger 33' when I watch this. Especially the workstation. :)
I converted my Promaster to a campervan back in 2017 and 2018 and been tweaking it every since. I found your van build video on Seth's channel. Very good content. At the time I was not interested in mountain biking. My van was built for surf, skate and paddleboard trips (disc golfing too). Thanks to you two I got a new mountain bike an started riding. I have a lot to learn but a life of riding bikes , skateboards and surfboards has prepared me well. My only regret in my van build was the height of the bed. I created the bed based on the horizontal ribs on the walls for maximum strength. What I didn't realize is it's impossible to put a bike upright under it. I can take the front wheel off my bike and tilt it in but that takes up way more room. Maybe this winter I can rework the bed (raise it up). Might take some re-routing of electrical wires and such but I think it will be best for the long run. Thanks again for your great content and the stoke.
I really enjoy your take on things and narration. I have a teardrop and often have to tell people that size really doesn’t matter 🤣🤷🏻♀️. My family asks me if eventually I’ll upgrade to a larger RV as if that is the natural progression of things. For me, it’s not. It really is finding the right fit and something I can handle on my own. Really good video and reminder why bigger is not always best.

Two dudes doing an excellent upgrade. Very engaging. Thanks for packing so much into a great quality, well edited video. Cant wait to see details! Keep 'em coming. ;D
Hmm your van is a front wheel drive (FWD) and most of the weight is at the rear so your off-road capability could be much better if you put a little more weight on the front. Subscribed!
But how could he do that? A place where you can stand is important. So in order to store more stuff in the front, he would need to free space in the back where he could stand upright. That would mean placing the bed in the middle of the camper. But now he couldn't use the swivel seats anymore and the large backdoors would be useless. Either he would have to remove the passenger seat, after watching this video I am sure that is not an option, or he needs to store stuff under the vehicle.
You’re so right man, every time I’m attempting something especially improvising there’s always people judging and critiquing or being negative and I’m thinking in my head “well I’m the one who is doing something or trying while you do nothing”
It's really scary to try something new as we are taught that failure is a bad thing, but if you look at all of the people that have really made a difference in this world... they are the ones who have made the most mistakes!

Lots of comments complaining about this upload because it’s not riding, been too long, not of Whistler, not of the renovation. I think what everyone means to say is they love the heck out you and your videos and really miss getting frequent doses of your awesome lifestyle. Thanks for uploading Alex!!!
There's part of your exercise routine, pulling up and letting down the bed back rest. ;-) The bikes and storage slides are a great idea (back savers). Watching various conversion videos, if I was so inclined to and had resources for building a conversion vehicle I'd either convert a box type ambulance (kind of stealthy) a classic Scenicruiser bus (far from being stealthy) or if I wanted to go anywhere, get a six wheel drive army truck, add two ambulance boxes (stretch frame if needed) mated together and reconfigured plus other features (definitely, not at all stealthy). ;-)
I'm extremely happy I can dry camp with a shower for 2 people every other day in complete stretched out home comfort for 10 days straight. In my diesel triple slide 40 ft class A. And have a small 35 mpg honda civic to explore with, much easier than a van to park and we have slept 9 straight days on the front folding seats, very comfortable and could have done more, with the tint we had no knocks. Having the best of both worlds I learned is the way to go. 40k for all. I fix 95% of everything that goes wrong using utube and google search. It's great seeing people build there own, good luck on the travels.
Recaro makes a air suspension seat base for trucks and buses that adjusts six inches up and down and has an adjustable firmness shock absorber built in. If you haven’t added an air compressor and tank to your setup you should... and you could add Hadley horns!
Great video! I imagine have a more box-like van made doing the build at least a little easier. I totally get the bed thing. The thing that more or less ended my tent camping days was simply that I no longer was willing to climb up off a pad or air mattress.
Looking good. cant wait for the update. One thing I can say I would like to see is that 4 inch pvc relocated from under the van to the top on the racks, like an electrician. but its your van so keep it where you want. I am sure you need to up the battery capacity. But that van is STS through and through. Sheala is missed. But the fridge is Home now.
I feel like I have to say what I'm thinking. Feel free to disagree as I'm sure most of you will. Alex, I've been watching this channel for a few years off and on, and I recently noticed after coming back from a break that your videos are very different now. Obviously as others have pointed out there is a lot more "van" and a lot less riding. There is also a couple weeks or more between videos. I understand that your van videos are your most popular and that you have to make money, but personally I don't really care for them, but that's just me. I liked it when you would go to a place(Snowshoe for example) and have a video up quickly about your time there. It didn't have to be polished or anything, it was just you riding the trails, having a good time, and giving us your opinion on them. Now, you come off in the videos as a lot more polished and lot less of who I thought you were. I can't really describe it, but I feel like the videos now with the voiceovers don't represent who you were or who I thought you were a few years ago. It almost seems like you are trying to be like other really popular channels in order to get views, and it's working. And frankly, it seems like you are trying to copy Seth with the high quality audio and such. Which is fine, but when I want that sort of thing I go watch Seth. I watched your videos because they were a rawer perspective on trails, one more like what the average guy would find. Finally, I want to see your progression as a rider because from what I can see in Seth's videos, you are totally different and more confident than the guy who wouldn't ride that rock at Snowshoe the first time. I mean honestly you seemed better than Seth in some moments like on Dirt Merchant, and I want to learn how you got that good so quickly. But I can't when you only post like once a month and its about your van(which can be interesting but it's not what I'm into personally). And I get you post stuff on Patreon, but that doesn't seem fair to me to have to pay to get what we used to get for free. I really used to like your videos and your raw perspective of an awesome dude just riding and getting stoked, and I hope sometime you can return to them.
They are both denser then air so with his floor ventilation he should be safe no matter what. although the detectors are so cheap that there is nothing wrong with having one :)

Having the best of both worlds I learned is the way to go. 40k for all. I fix 95% of everything that goes wrong using utube and google search.
It's great seeing people build there own, good luck on the travels.
Are you sponsored by Canyon now? And You got a downhill bike!
Yes he is, if you were a Patron of his you would know all about this.
Having seen most of your van build videos, this is definitely my favorite. Great job on this one, helpful and kept me entertained.
Alex, it's been TOO LONG between videos, man. I am having withdrawals...step it up! LOL...
Recaro makes a air suspension seat base for trucks and buses that adjusts six inches up and down and has an adjustable firmness shock absorber built in. If you haven’t added an air compressor and tank to your setup you should... and you could add Hadley horns!
can you post more often????
Great video! I imagine have a more box-like van made doing the build at least a little easier. I totally get the bed thing. The thing that more or less ended my tent camping days was simply that I no longer was willing to climb up off a pad or air mattress.
When are we gonna get to see a actual riding video
Looking good. cant wait for the update. One thing I can say I would like to see is that 4 inch pvc relocated from under the van to the top on the racks, like an electrician. but its your van so keep it where you want. I am sure you need to up the battery capacity. But that van is STS through and through. Sheala is missed. But the fridge is Home now.
How doe he have WiFi out in the mountains to upload a video
4g
Love watching the van evolve over time. Keep up the great work.
All you need now is a co2/propane combo detector just to be safe. Be blessed
They are both denser then air so with his floor ventilation he should be safe no matter what. although the detectors are so cheap that there is nothing wrong with having one :)
