I have a suggestion for the splatter - put your cake in a large box with the opening toward you. Now you can splatter and the box will catch all the extra gold that splatters everywhere. You can use your box over and over for this design.

Yeah you can with whipped cream but it’s not as stable as buttercream, I susally just whip up 35% heavy whipping cream, and I don’t ever freeze cakes I do know some people do that and it definitely is an options and no it doesn’t change the taste as long as it’s covered in plastic wrap properly and then stored in an air right container hope that helps ☺️
