Oh my god Thank you!! I have watched countless reviews and they all consist of comparing this model with the pro. All I wanted was a review of how well it does with everyday task, art, and pencil.
This iPad is $100 used now on all used markets, its a no brainer that this is still a good iPad to get in 2022, I still have mine and I draw on it every week, I do professional art on this iPad and its amazing.
These are starting at 329$ for the WiFi only. 32 gb. I got the WiFi/lte version 32 gig for 100$ through my carrier when I upgraded my iPhone. I just use it for media consumption so it’s perfect...
Hello , great video full of great answers to a lot of my Questions; Have you used the iPad 7 generation. do you have the same opinion on its function over a iPad Pros .
Thanks for the video, it provided me with some good information. I have a question about using Affinity Photo for iPad but wanted to double check - can someone clarify if Affinity Photo DOES indeed work on my iPad 6th generation ? Second, I think I read this or not, wasn’t clear, but does the iPad 6 generation and again, specifically Affinity Photo NEED a stylus pen ? I read that they moved Affinity Photo over to the iPad and managed to make use of just using touch controls on the screen to replace the stylus ? Last question, I’m using iOS version 13.4.1. Does that halve any earring on having Affinity Photo working or not on my iPad with these specs of mine? Any help would be awesomely appreciated !!
Hey! Thank you for this informative video. I'm a fashion designer and weihing up between the ipad pro and 6th Gen. I would be sketching, illustrating as well as importing scanned fabrics. What would you suggest is the best? Judging by your video the 6th Gen would be compatible and more affordable? Look forward to your reply! :D
I’m thinking of getting this or the pro 10.5, my main gripe with the cheaper is performance during long term, do you think performance on the cheaper one will be as smooth 3 yrs or so down the line? The 10.5 has a much higher refresh rate and double the ram which future proofs it
Thabo Mboneni same here but 10.5 inch is too much starting from 649$ with keypord almost 800$ others 1000$ and that is sick so i wanna get this kid 2018 and macbook that is awesome 😍🤙
That’s how I feel about it. The 10.5 is more future proof than the cheaper iPad.... you spend more BUT you can use it longer and keep it updated longer I’m sure. Usually when we get iOS updates, the RAM gets bogged down so the 4GB would last longer than the 2GB ram in that instance.
Thabo Mboneni, I had been using the iPad 2 which I bought in 2011. Even though I now have the 2018 model I am still using the iPad 2 to watch movies on RUclips. Seven years down the line, with just iOS 9 something it’s still kicking. I expect this current version will last equally long. And my iPod classic is the best device I ever bought. I got it 2006 and it’s still working perfectly well.
Thabo Mboneni , at this point you may as well await the Apple pad x, which is about to become available. I'm perfectly happy with my 2018 iPad. But if you're an artist or some professional who absolutely needs the more expensive model, go for it. I'm certain Apple will gladly take your funds. Good luck.
I currently own a strong built windows pc. and i have all the powerful softwares I can use for drawing. I can buy a wacom intuos pro. but i don't have experience working with wacom products. I do have experience using a cheap genius mousepen i608x which is not finger friendly after one hour use. Even though i have used a graphics tablet i am not sure if wacom intuos pro will be better or worse for my productivity. i must say. being not able to look where i am drawing is not fun experience for me. or i can buy the new ipad spending extra money than the wacom intuos pro. i have experience working with ipad pro and i loved it. i am not sure whether switching to iOS platform will be a good idea since i have a strong windows desktop and also windows softwares have a good eco system among them. but i have zero idea about iOS platform. i am guessing iOS apps are not as good and powerful as windows softwares. on screen drawing experience vs powerful and complete package for drawing. i really cannot decide. :(
Can you use an ipad to make simple wallet design? Lets say I wanted a wallet that was big enough for cards, but i wanted everything even and symmetrical, even the corners rounded all the same! Pretty much design the hole wallet and be able to print it out from a computer. I hope I make sense here lol
My 12 yr old daughter has this iPad and had been getting into animation... should I just get her the Apple Pencil? Any suggestions on apps? Or should I get it an iPad Pro? Or other tablet
No need to give her an ipad pro. If you are willing to pay 100usd for a pencil, then she would be very happy with it. About animation apps, not sure, but I've been hearing about Flipaflip.
This or the 10.5 pro?! Please help. I’m an accounting student who will use this to take notes, view Word docs, PPs, PDFs, and type up a few papers. Also is 32GB enough?
You might be good if you take care of the space. I know it isn't an iOS device, but my 32gb Galaxy S7 Edge does well for me (If I move my videos and photos to the cloud).
Thanks for the compliment. I believe that AutoCAD mobile will work on this iPad quite well-- it does have a pretty powerful processor-- the only area where it might lag is with super complex files that require a lot of memory. ~nyko
I want something like a tablet that I can draw while not having to be on the computer, I already have an xp pen artist 12 for that. I'm looking into the spin 11 bc bigger screen and stylus $329 I think, but then toying w the idea getting the cheaper iPad w apple pencil for $300. Both have cons the iPad only has 2gb ram and the chromebook has 4. In perspective My Kindle fire HD 8 is 1.5gb ram and 16 GB storage. It runs apps just fine sometimes it closes out Pandora but I can run medibang, music and Instagram together. I just want a system that can do all that w/o lagging a lot. Can iPad do all that?
I currently own a strong built windows pc. and i have all the powerful softwares I can use for drawing. I can buy a wacom intuos pro. but i don't have experience working with wacom products. I do have experience using a cheap genius mousepen i608x which is not finger friendly after one hour use. I would argue to differ... I have a powerful VR windows workstation, and several Apple workstations, plus the iPads, and I can easily say that if you are looking to design, sketch, and do artwork, the iPad is the way to go-- not only do you get an amazing onscreen drawing experience, you get an extremely powerful eco-system of amazing design apps-- take a look at Procreate and Concepts for sketching, Affinity Photo and Designer for photo editing and vector graphics, Pixelmator for photo editing, and uMake for 3D, among many many other apps out there. I would argue actually that the iOS app ecosystem for creatives is even more robust than that for Windows-- primarily because developers are still working really hard on apps for mobile creation-- many windows apps are getting incremental updates, and they are good applications, but they rely on more expensive graphic tablets, or computer systems. Take the 6th gen iPad for a spin, see if you like it and if you do, use it until you want to upgrade to an iPad pro. I hope that helps --- Nyko
Bianca Franklin yes but you will notice a difference, with the new iPad 2018 the screen will feel a bit sunken and if you have an Apple Pencil then it will feel different on the iPad 2018.But if you want a powerful iPad get the Pro if you’re on a budget then go with the iPad 2018
*Great review. Million dollar question... 32GB or 128?? I have an imac for my main graphic design work and I want the ipad MAINLY to surf the net, netflix and the odd sketch.. but no serious graphic design work. I'm on a budget but will stretch the extra 100+ bucks for the 128GB model if you think its necessary...(I also want the ipencil)..any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated as I need to get something asap. The desktop is at my office and I have nothing at home. Thanks in advance!*
It's not "laminated screen", so you might notice a gap between the glass and the screen... It's noticeable with the pencil, but you can get used to it pretty quickly
Highly highly highly recommend the Belkin Pencil Case. It's such an amazing Case. I'll do a video on it in the next few days because I love mine so much. ~ Nyko
Hi James, sure! Definitely get Procreate, it is great! Concepts is another great app for sketching and very powerful. uMake is fantastic (shameless plug) for 3D. Sketchbook Pro is also really nice on the iPad and powerful in some senses. Affinity photos is fantastic for photo editing on the iPad. Adobe Photoshop Sketch is awesome for doing sketching and watercolor. Most of them are free or under $10, so I'd recommend starting with those. We also love Sketches as well. There are so many good creative apps, but those ones are ones we really like. Hope that helps.
nope, unless u use cloud for photos and most importantly videos and movies. and only download important stuff and clean up every few months. then its okay if ure a light date user.
Oh my god Thank you!! I have watched countless reviews and they all consist of comparing this model with the pro. All I wanted was a review of how well it does with everyday task, art, and pencil.

Best review on iPad 2018.
Thank you so much for this review. I cant afford the pro, and I'm happy with going with this one.
Lourens Swanepoel i know right I’m really happy with this iPad it’s GREAT!!!
me too
have you bought it yet? If so, what's your thoughts?
chronicfish its really good
LJ Swanepoel .
Thanks to whoever you are...You speak clearly and slowly. Instead of trying to cram everything in of 5 mins. Wish you did more videos about the Ipad.
Wonderfully explained sir. Thank you. Everything that a designer would like to know abt in the 2018 ipad. I just got one!
These are starting at 329$ for the WiFi only. 32 gb. I got the WiFi/lte version 32 gig for 100$ through my carrier when I upgraded my iPhone. I just use it for media consumption so it’s perfect...
Ty for this review need an iPad at an affordable price for my sketches and designs
Thank you so much!! Just bought this iPad and I love it!! It’s great
Hello , great video full of great answers to a lot of my Questions; Have you used the iPad 7 generation. do you have the same opinion on its function over a iPad Pros .
Such a great review, quite useful (to be honest, one of the most useful reviews I found here on RUclips).
How about for animation? Does it work smoothly? 😊
Using this iPad just for college (PDFs, note taking, videos...) it's great? I'll be able to use it for more than 2 years? Thank you!
Victor Hugo I guess you’ll do, for my works too well and I’m a engeenering student and I hace to design a lot.
There’s no reason you cant. I bought and ipad air in 2013 and now i’m still using it for lots of purpose. No problem at all!
How about parallax with the un-illuminated screen? Is it too distracting?
Looks like it works good with 3D modeling. Have you used an house design apps that you can recommend?
Yes, I have used For house designing apps 3years ago it is called Planner 5D

If your have ahefty budget buy ipad pro its like youre investing on a 5-year use. Its really great!
This iPad still works in 2022-23?
Thank you that means a lot😢😢😢
3:10 what is that app called?
That app is called uMake -- you can find it on the App Store if you search for uMake or uMake 3D. Hope that helps. That is our app! ~Nyko
Does affinity designer work on it too?

@@uMake yes you are right minimum requiremnt is 4 gb ram ..ghz is quite decent enough to run autocad.
It definitely works! I use it to make floor plans electrical plans etc. it is even compatible with any version of autocadd when exporting it to pc.

You can upload everything on the cloud so 128GB maybe isn’t that necessary
32gb is the way to go

yasmine gaming 2018 iPad
2018 Ipad if you don’t care for the laminated display and good camera
