Great video, followed this step by step. I was having issues with my Roku losing the wireless connection, hoping using this bridge will keep the connection going directly plugged in. Roku Support "thinks" they were solving my issue, but I have a feeling this will totally take care of it. Thanks for the Video!
Haha. Step by step...it worked! The ONLY thing I had to do differently was when I applied the change to the local IP address of the router (I also did 192.168.69.1) I wasn't getting the refreshed page once power cycling and entering that into the browser. I had to change my desktop's ethernet card properties to obtain it's IP address automatically...then it worked without a hitch. Thanks much for the help =D
AAA++++ Recomended!!!It works great for me!!!just follow what he said in the video and make sure you installed the correct firmware to your router.. many thanks men!!!:)
Awesome tutorial!,, should have mentioned some features of the DD_WRT custom firmware, like being able to trannsmit @ 251 mW instead of default 71mW. It;s an extender we setting up and thats more han 3 times power output signal!!
6:41 When using firefox (I only have FF) Do a 30/30/30 to the router and reboot the computer. While the computer is booting have router unplugged. when you computer is done booting plug the router in. Maybe I'm the only one who had to do that but it works.
Followed everything as mentioned in video . Still getting page can't be displayed. On the wan page is there suppose to be some thing in DNS 2 ? Any help would be appreciated .
The router that I'm making a repeater disappeared after I clicked Apply Settings at 9:47. It is no longer an available network and I have tried resetting the router. Any advice on what I should do to bring it back or is it a brick now? Thanks.
Question - I am at the 4:20 mark. I am in the command prompt window and I have already followed everything you have said to do before this point. This is what my command prompt window looks like: C:\Users\UserName\Desktop>tftp -i 192.168.1.1 put dd-wrt.v24_micro_generic.bin After I do that, my command prompt sits there for almost 10 seconds and then it says "Connection request failed" Any idea to as why it is doing that? Thanks so much for your help!
unplug the network cable from the internet port on the router and plug it in any of the other 4 ports. that should work. you also may not be able to log into the router after u have reached making your own subnet. just update the settings as u did in the beginning...so change the default gateway & preferred server to your new subnet IP...ex. 192.168.50.1 and you should be good.
i got to adding ssid to connect to existing router, before adding virtual interface. dd-wrt router shut off wifi signal. unable to connect, please advise.
Brick 2 of my router doing this. With two different methods. Thank god these router were given to me. I did follow them to the T. Now I just have a fast blinking power light. Better just to buy a Wireless Bridge off of ebay for 25.00. Then to go through this crap
if u only have the fast blinking power light is the only indicator on ur router it sounds like u do not have a network cable plugged in. u have to have a network cable connected to the router an the PC while ur doing this...any of the 4 ports that should work an revive ur routers. also dd-wt has a tftp exe on their site so if ur having trouble with cmd prompt them u can use this to help 'unbrick' ur routers. gud luck.
I entered everything correctly including the type of password and everything, and I still cant get a WAN IP. I have the same router and everything. Any suggestions?
Good day, I did everything bud wen on the command I put the T FTP and the rest of the file , it think for a while and said TIMEOUT OCCURRED CONNECT REQUEST FAILED if can be help will appreciate Thanks... G.
I am connected to router via wifi. As soon as I change my router mode from AP to Repeater & save the setting (as mentioned in the video) I don't find my Router in wifi available network. Do I need to connect my router via LAN cable coz as I connected my router via LAN cable then after entering the IP address nothing happens. I am using WRH54G Router. Plz help me out. ThnX
Thanks, this was very helpful. I have a WRT54G v5. The download and install instructions can be found at: wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_WRT54G_v5.0_&_5.1_&_6.0 The remainder of the setup was very well outlined by your video.
I was doing fine until 7:46. That never showed up. Instead, I got the "This page cannot be displayed" message and now I can't reconnect with my router. Any ideas?
Very confusing, very hard to follow and consequently very hard to digest - so to say! Ohhh... I almost forgot it... it didn't work the saving settings in Mozilla because you where having the browser waiting for you answer whether to save or not the password for that site and Mozilla prioritized that instead of saving your settings!
13 mins in you you ummm.... you forget what you are doing and saying....so vacant sounding... Router 1 Router 2 We don't want different names for a repeater...that's a repeater bridge then...use SAME SSID ! So can walk from one wireless area to another and seemlessly the stronger signal is used...
ive gotten to the point to where i need to tftp the file to the router but i keep getting "cant read from local file" i have the file on my desktop where should i put the file to where it can be found, or what should i do differently
Thank you so much. Watching this step by step was so much easier than trying to follow written directions. It really made the job a breeze.
THANKS!!!! I have tried multiple guides on setting up my router as a repeater and yours worked perfect!!!!

Hey I have the WAP54G can this be configured with DD-WRT to be used as a Wireless Repeater.
Followed everything as mentioned in video . Still getting page can't be displayed. On the wan page is there suppose to be some thing in DNS 2 ? Any help would be appreciated .
@z3r0sky For what part? Can you point out the specific time?
I already have that ip number to my main router, what other number can use to access the router?
The router that I'm making a repeater disappeared after I clicked Apply Settings at 9:47. It is no longer an available network and I have tried resetting the router. Any advice on what I should do to bring it back or is it a brick now? Thanks.
Did you disconnect from the internet the entire time?
Anyone know the name of the cool song playing in the background? Thanks.

I was doing fine until 7:46. That never showed up. Instead, I got the "This page cannot be displayed" message and now I can't reconnect with my router. Any ideas?
Yeah this happened to me as well.. have you done anything about it ?
Not yet. I've had to take a break from that project.
I got through... i just made sure my computer wifi was off and i was connected with the right network which should be dd-wrt.
Thanks. I'll give it a try.
I got a wan ip but I have no internet traffic going through, does anyone have any ideas to help?
I've got the same....wan ip but no internet.....Have you solved this issue?
So whats the router's password?
Very confusing, very hard to follow and consequently very hard to digest - so to say!

ive gotten to the point to where i need to tftp the file to the router but i keep getting "cant read from local file" i have the file on my desktop where should i put the file to where it can be found, or what should i do differently
Stephen Pruett drop the file in your C: drive.. Not on the desktop. Then try the command mentioned in the video again..
I ended up finding out how to change the command to find the file on the desktop haha.
