Just discovered these tutorials lately on wireless router connection, especially when I also have a similar ASUS router. Very helpful in learning and application. Thank you so much, I love your tutorials.
It works! Very helpful, Thanks a lot Bro.. Just to be honest, after many tutorial videos.. in fact, it was your tutorial that works properly.. without reducing my gratitude for tutorial videos from other youtubers Your explanation is so simple with interesting animations, so it's easy to understand Once again, bunch of thanks Brother.. Hopefully you and your family always be healthy
Thank-You again for a well edited video and step by step configuration process. Thanks to you I have my very old Linksys WRT54GS router up and running as a 4 port switch and with a wireless network. I am going to use this device as an IOT connection for Arduino boards. I will now be able to create and connect wired and wireless Arduino devices. You have a great skill for teaching and your videos rival some that Cisco Systems tries to pawn off as training videos.
Thank you so much for your comment! That's very good to hear these videos were useful for you and you liked them! It definitely motivates me to make better content for this channel! Awesome!! Thanks again :-)
I'm loving your style and thoroughness. I get confused at 5:13 your network configuration still has the bridged option. From your previous videos I understand why the repeater is used and not repeater bridge, I just don't understand why the repeater only option still has network configuration of bridged.
I saved this video as I think it will solve a problem I am having. Currently getting internet with a Mobley that has no ethernet port. I bought an ASUS router thinking I could simply connect to the Mobley wirelessly. The ASUS router I bought does not support wireless repeater mode though. It looks like I can flash my router with DD-WRT and get repeater mode out of the router after all.
Your video has been helpful and worked fine for WRT160N. Now I have flashed Netgear R6300V2 using DD-WRT v3.0-r39960M kongac (06/18/19) and tried to setup as a repeater. However only wired devices connected to it are working. The wireless access points on 5Ghz and 2.4GHz network failed to connect with "Incorrect password". I have tried disabling the wireless security, but still no connection. It is possible I am doing something wrong. I have also tried disabling the physical connection on 2.4GHz.
Great video. I want to use this in my rv, which means the host will change at each site. After I do this, will I be able to go backinto settings and change the settings to the new wifi network?
Hello Behfor, thanks for your work doing the video. I followed all the steps for the repeater and repeater bridge configuration and have the same problem: once the second wifi network is working the first wifi network speed decays to 0.5 - 1 mbps and the second is similar. My second router is a Buffalo router that already came with dd wrt. The only thing that I didn't applied is to change the subnet mask in the second network because I don´t know what numbers can I input there. Currently is the same as the primary wifi: 255.255.255.0 Hope you can help me with some ideas to resolve this. Kind regards.
Hi Raul, if the problem is speed, it could be because of interference, I would make sure the routers are not too close to each other, also i would try different channels for the connection between routers, because the current channel might be congested! PS you don't need to change the subnet. Thanks.
Maybe I missed something, however, even with the "repeater mode" all the devices in "ROOM-B" are still potentially able to reach devices in "ROOM-A"... unless some kind of "AP isolation" or specific routing rules are already implemented on the primary wi-fi router... am I right?
In the video i actually meant the other way around which is room A cannot access room B! But you're right potentially room B should be able to access room A but based on DD-WRT Wiki page that says "Computers connected to one router can not see computers connected to other routers in Windows Network." I'm not sure if they can, maybe dd-wrt somehow blocks them ! This is something I should test myself. Thanks :-)
Because the IP address of the router is not changed yet, I mean I haven't saved the configuration yet. After I save the page it should change to the new Ip address.
hi, bro for some reason the 2019 fsofware of my tp link TL-WR1043ND V1 Not have the option of min 5:07 only i have AP , CLIENT , CLIENT BRIDGE (ROUTED), ADHOC, WDS STATION, WDS AP. if u know what option i need to use or if i need dowload another old version pls can help me ?
Hi, yeah as you can see in the video you will need to assign a local IP address to the secondary router and it should be on a different subnet than the primary router! Thanks!
Great video until I attempted to set up a Repeater between my R8000 and a DIR890L, both running DD-WRT v3.0-r37305 (10/10/18). As soon as I go to add the Virtual interface after setting up the 5GHz channel as a Repeater, the selections for the Wireless Channel, Channel Width and the Extension Channel disappear. Can I ask you what version did you use? Thanks, I enjoy your contents.
I have the same problem. My repeater router wireless connect to the main router, but my wan ip remains 0.0.0.0. so I have not access to internet over repeater.
Hi Behfor, I just upgrade my old linksys E2100L with WRT v3.0 R40559 and the installation was without problems. Now when starting with the configuration over menu Wirelles> Basic Setting > wireless mode does not appear the repeater option. Only show AP, Client, Client Bridge (routed), adhoc, WDS station and finally WDS AP. Could you please help me? what option must be chosen. Thanks in advance
Hello Behfor, I have the same router Linksys e900 and I setup the router in Repeater Mode like your way. Everything works good, except trying connecting to Wi-Fi after restarting the router. If the power electricity is gone or I manually restart the router after those settings, clients can't connect to the "Room B" Wi-Fi, the network is broadcasted but users can't connect. I find a solution, to go to security wireless settings, disable the security for "Room B" and then enable again, and this is done only thru LAN port. So, summary, on every restart or electricity fail, I have to connect LAN cable and disable/enable Wi-Fi security, its very boring.. Do you have any solution for this issue or any stable version that works good for Repeater Mode with Linksys E900? I'm using v24-44715 K3.x_mega-e900.bin, but the same is happening with K26 mega and nv64k. I'm waiting for your reply! Thank you, King Regards!
Need a little help? I flashed DD-WRT firmware on my Linksys ea6400 router and cascade it with my Arris surfboard, working fine. the only problem has come that the power indicator light on the front panel goes off after rebooting and also WPS button seems to be not working as pressing it, there is no effect on the power light and WPS devices do not connect with this. Any help will be highly appreciated.
So my primary router 192.168.10.1 and I'm setting my secondary as 192.168.1.1 to repeat without bridging. Should I leave the Gateway and local DNS as 0.0.0.0?

Went and set it up in the repeater bridge mode like the other video. Got wifi in my pole barn now. Thank you

At 6:14. The DHCP is enabled for repeater, but the IP address start at 102.168.1.100. Why not 102.168.2.100? Thanks for your videos.
Because the IP address of the router is not changed yet, I mean I haven't saved the configuration yet. After I save the page it should change to the new Ip address.
Ok. I see. What about the step where we check “status” and “join” the primary router? Some other videos do that, so I just curious. Thanks
I never had to do that! If everything is configured correctly it should connect automatically
Behfor thank you for all your instructional videos.

Hi, any idea why the same wifi security conf works in Repeater Bridge mode and not in Repeater mode ?
You could do a tutorial on how to configure openvpn in server mode in DDWRT, the tutorials that are there are obsolete.
So my primary router 192.168.10.1 and I'm setting my secondary as 192.168.1.1 to repeat without bridging. Should I leave the Gateway and local DNS as 0.0.0.0?
Yes, just leave the Gateway and Local DNS as 0.0.0.0 and it should work fine :-)

Just attempted this on my wrt610nv2 and the DHCP is enabled but it's not running so therefore i can't access the net when connected to repeater's own ssid.. Where did i go wrong?
I can't find the repeater mode it's not on the drop down list... :/
You probably have the Client mode, you can use that instead. Client bridge instead of repeater bridge, client instead of repeater.
Hi, ive followed your instructions however i still cant connect to the main router. need your assistance
So wat firmware ur currently running for repeater e900 as of today?
hey can you name any gigabit ethernet lan ported router that is capable of dd-wrt and/or wds? thanks
