- We went in to just film a bonus for a video and ended up hearing two great stories about Elvis and his number 1 fan. We decided to bring this out by itself for you guys to enjoy.

My grandfather live not too far for Gladys and Vernon Presley lived Vernon and my grandfather work in the cotton fields and soybean fields they made a whopping $2 per day him and Vernon become pretty close friends from what he told me in 1976 I was in that same hardware store I was just a kid I didn't know anything about the history at the time but there was a lot of stories that my grandfather told me about Vernon and Gladys and even Elvis Presley himself when my grandfather passed away he left a lot of things to my father that Elvis had give him in her early start with music one of the sun records that I was recorded his first hit and pretty much some pictures and stuff and I should have that one day hopefully in my possessions until next video guys keep up the good work God bless

Beautiful memories, which are always appreciated, thank you. I visited Elvis's Birthplace in 2002, the house is so small, nobody would expect this. My plans are to be back in 2023.

Thanks for the video guys! I enjoyed seeing Tupelo again. Hopefully we'll get back over there one day! The Tupelo concert stage would actually have been down behind the City Hall there. But where the statue is situated would be almost in the location of a home the Presleys lived in briefly - it was called Mulberry Alley and ran parallel to the Main St along the top entrance of the Fairgrounds. I haven't been in the Reeds Dept Store opposite Tupelo Hardware for a while but it had seats on display from the Lyric Theatre that Elvis supposedly always sat on for the Saturday morning cowboy flicks!

Its only right and fitting that there are these Historical Markers placed at the spots which are connected to ELVIS.
We have similar across the pond and they are called BLUE PLAQUES. So i call it a Wedgewood blue colour background with white writing.
A few months ago i watched a Spa Guy video about the shop. I only "found" your channel from "finding Spa Guy" last August at the ELVIS Candlelight vigil.

Aguhghg! I love this video! I've heard the story of Elvis getting the guitar at Tupelo Hardware, but this time there was a bit more to the story...plus the bonus story of the Elvis fan in Chile. Wayne tells a good story. The Tupelo Hardware store reminds me of Mayberry! 😄 I hope you got a shirt from there. I also love the statue and the bricks below it. The benches are nice too. I love that there's one for his grandchildren. I also appreciate (in all of your videos) the still pictures you use at the beginning and end of the videos. Thanks for another great video. There was the famous Tupelo Concession Stand Brawl that happened in Pro Wrestling history at Tupelo many years ago & they are still talking about it & it wasn't even a WWE/WWF show. Wayne Ferris who later became the Honky Tonk Man & wore the Elivs suits was one of the Wrestlers involved in that brawl.
I wondered if Elvis himself ever went there to this store. To bad that their is not a picture of him Elvis and the onwers who owned it then back in let say like summer of 1977. That would have been something.
