The steel is noticeably better at edge holding on the cold steel, and I only know that cause I have put it right up against my Condor pack golok for chopping and carving. The cold steel stayed sharper longer, but took about 7 or 8 minutes longer to sharpen!!!

@tubes5150 update! I saw JoeX destroy the cold steel bowie. It has a fake Tang. Its a skeleton tang. I canceled the order. I bought instead a Svord Von Tempsky Forest Bowie. It looks promising 😀 do you have one of those?
@@rottvang Funny you should ask …. If you watched most of my videos , I’m a sucker for big beautiful Bowie knives . I like them nice and shiny ( mainly because I’m more of a collector and I want to keep their value )…. So when I received the Von TEMPSKY , I immediately hated it . I didn’t like the handle . And I didn’t like the Blued blade . Returned asap and bought 2 bad ass knives instead . ( if I do more research I can tell you the 2 that I purchased but it will take some time to find ). In my knife purchasing history, I only returned about 5 or 6 knives . The TEMPSKY being one . And also the Cold Steel Frontier. I Really hated that knife !!! It’s really hard on the hand . Those scales need to be replaced. Plus - it was blued . Now they are great knives . Don’t get me wrong . Some folks absolutely love them !! Personal choice . Not for me . I sincerely wish you could get the Cold Steel Wild West or better yet …. The Case XX Bowie . Oh wait !! The Bear and Sons Gold Rush !! That’s my favorite out of the bunch !! Think about it ….. Keep me posted .

I wanted to get the cold steel western Bowie but after seeing how much skeletonizing they did to the handle; I settled for the undertaker instead. I love the western Bowie but come on cold steel.... give us a solid tang! Great video bro! 🤘🏻

Nice knives! I love knives, I have over 300 of them. Mostly pocket knives but a few that are hunting knives. One of my favorites is one my uncle made. He sells them for $1500. to $2000. I was looking over his collection and he had one that I fell in love with. He said it would go for over $3000 when he got ready to sell it. Naturally I would pick out the most expensive one... I kept telling him how much I loved it and how awesome it was and how I really would like to add it to my collection but he was way out of my price range on it. After we bantered back and forth for half an hour over it, he finally told me to take it and enjoy it. He had told me in the beginning of our conversation that he had about $150. in materials in it. I layed down the $150 and made him take it. He insisted he didn't want it but I walked away with the knife and left the money laying on his work bench..... My next favorite is one my grandson made for me. Good day my friend!!!

Real quick - 2 Things : 1- I think my prayers are finally being answered ( when talking about my knife collection). I have 3 kids ( 2 girls and a boy ). My son , who will indeed inherit my entire collection, has had zero interest in knives ( he only likes my Rambo and Expendables collection ). Just the other day ( he is 21 by the way and just very athletic and a sports nut who is constantly either playing basketball or coaching while going to college ). Anyway - Some if his closest friends are just now starting to get into knife collecting. NOW HE IS INSPIRED ❤️♥️💜 His friends had no idea his dad was a knife collecting nut ! So he has been asking a lot of questions lately about different types and steels etc etc . I’m So Happy !!! And 2nd -- Did you by chance see my latest video ????? ( Rambo HeartStopper MK-8 and MK-9 )???? The MK-8 was just sent to me by an incredible blade smith . He donated it to my channel . I am still speechless!!!! The wild west Bowie handle works better for me, but I wear a 2xl or 3 XL glove depending on the cut and the 2xl gloves barely fit!!! Love your song!!! Lmao 😄
This have been impressive cuts, both of them, paad'ner. I pulled the trigger on a Cold Steel Marauder Bowie, and I am very happy with the knife. Less weight, slight thinner blade stock, what makes it im a furious slasher. But I have to get me some more traditional Bowie blades. Lusting for the Wild West for some time, but I am an absolute fan of the 1917 Frontier Bowie, what has to come first. Have to plan a bit due to the pandemic, but methinks that first there will be the 1917, then the Wild West, and later the Undertaker - because those are in stock and will be there for a while. Thank you so much for watching 🤠 First thing is , I did have the Frontier a couple years ago . Due to financial hardship, I wound up selling a few knives ( Frontier being one of them ). I really didn’t like it as much as the other shiny beauties . I would absolutely take the Wild West or even the San Mai Trailmaster over that any day . Love that Marauder too !!!!! As a matter of fact , I think my taste lies mostly with those mirror polished / or satin finished knives . Just eye popping haha . I’m not a “ blued “ fan either . I returned or sold knives with that type of finish ( like say the Timber Rattler Gunslinger and this other that came from England that I just can’t seem to remember the name of off the top of my head ). Again ... love those big beautiful shiny glowing Bowie’s haha . I have a bunch a black coated knives too that I prefer over the Blued ones . Just my personal taste . Happy New Year my friend 🤠🙏💥💥💥💥💥
@@tubes5150 I am a bass player like you, and I am a working musician, so I know that one has to give away things from time to time due to hard financial times. Yeah, 90% of my collection is polished, or may be stonewashed or bead blasted. With some exceptions, like blades with forging marks like some Condor knifes, or a huge Herbertz Tanto. Only my three Ontario SP series knifes, like the Marine Raider Bowie, the SP 8 and the SP 53 Bolo, are coated. And this coating is deteriorating due to hard use, what gives 'em a beautiful used finish. A friend of mine has the 1917, and the blueing did fade away because of use. So he gave the blade and the guard a sanding and took it to the buffing wheel. This way he got rid of the most of the blueing. It appears to be no fire blueing, but some chemical stuff, and you can get rid of it with some elbow grease - or the right machines. We will do the same to my 1917, it sure will come out beautiful. Next I like a lot is the leather sheet with the frog. This makes the knife very authentic. It's a shame that they don't do the 1917 in high polished, it would be a great knife. One of my first CS blades was a Trail Master in Carbon V with the brass guard and the nylon sheet, and this one is still with me. It's my favourite knife ever. Stay safe, stay blessed. And something different to my Cold Steel SRK, Master Hunter, AK 47, Fallkniven A1, Puma Automesser and other fixed blades I have. I am quite curious about the Sleypnir steel, I only hear good things about it. Didn't know that they also have an M7, have to get a close look on this one. I really like the belly on that Undertaker bowie... better for slicing than a straight-edged knife. It only needs the hawk-bill butt to make it about perfect! IMHO. I'm a dyed in the wool Cold Steel man but that Condor looks pretty handy, want to get my mitts on one and try it out around la estancia.... Not that I need another bowie knife, but ya know how it is.. Ain't it GREAT livin in the USA!!!??!!! Oh, yeah... in the Old West movies, the Good Guys NEVER used a knife in a fight.. any Bad Guy who pulled a knife got an ass-beat by the Good Guy... Knives were just bad form, only used by the evil Bad Guys...

About a year ago or so I was planning on buying the undertaker Bowie until I seen the wild west Bowie. I had sold my Western w49 when I needed cash bad and wanted to replace it like I said was gonna get the U T but I got the WWB that's my choice on the two

My out of the box on the cold steel wild west Bowie was shit!!! The belly wasn't bad, but the bottom had 2 inches above the sharpening choil that didn't have an edge so I had to reprofile from square 1, but it'll shave a gnat's ass now!!!

The undertakers blade does it for me. That thing looks like a proper fighting Bowie, at least what I personally imagine a fighting Bowie to look like.

Cowboy C Bop I commented on the wrong video
Nice knives! I love knives, I have over 300 of them. Mostly pocket knives but a few that are hunting knives. One of my favorites is one my uncle made. He sells them for $1500. to $2000. I was looking over his collection and he had one that I fell in love with. He said it would go for over $3000 when he got ready to sell it. Naturally I would pick out the most expensive one... I kept telling him how much I loved it and how awesome it was and how I really would like to add it to my collection but he was way out of my price range on it. After we bantered back and forth for half an hour over it, he finally told me to take it and enjoy it. He had told me in the beginning of our conversation that he had about $150. in materials in it. I layed down the $150 and made him take it. He insisted he didn't want it but I walked away with the knife and left the money laying on his work bench..... My next favorite is one my grandson made for me.

Real quick - 2 Things :
1- I think my prayers are finally being answered ( when talking about my knife collection).
I have 3 kids ( 2 girls and a boy ).
My son , who will indeed inherit my entire collection, has had zero interest in knives ( he only likes my Rambo and Expendables collection ).
Just the other day ( he is 21 by the way and just very athletic and a sports nut who is constantly either playing basketball or coaching while going to college ).
Anyway - Some if his closest friends are just now starting to get into knife collecting.
NOW HE IS INSPIRED ❤️♥️💜
His friends had no idea his dad was a knife collecting nut !
So he has been asking a lot of questions lately about different types and steels etc etc .

The wild west Bowie handle works better for me, but I wear a 2xl or 3 XL glove depending on the cut and the 2xl gloves barely fit!!! Love your song!!! Lmao 😄
This have been impressive cuts, both of them, paad'ner.
I pulled the trigger on a Cold Steel Marauder Bowie, and I am very happy with the knife. Less weight, slight thinner blade stock, what makes it im a furious slasher.
But I have to get me some more traditional Bowie blades.
Lusting for the Wild West for some time, but I am an absolute fan of the 1917 Frontier Bowie, what has to come first.
Have to plan a bit due to the pandemic, but methinks that first there will be the 1917, then the Wild West, and later the Undertaker - because those are in stock and will be there for a while.
Not so sure with the big Cold Steel blades.

First thing is , I did have the Frontier a couple years ago .
Due to financial hardship, I wound up selling a few knives ( Frontier being one of them ).
I really didn’t like it as much as the other shiny beauties .
I would absolutely take the Wild West or even the San Mai Trailmaster over that any day .
Love that Marauder too !!!!!
As a matter of fact , I think my taste lies mostly with those mirror polished / or satin finished knives .
Just eye popping haha .
I’m not a “ blued “ fan either .
I returned or sold knives with that type of finish ( like say the Timber Rattler Gunslinger and this other that came from England that I just can’t seem to remember the name of off the top of my head ).
Again ... love those big beautiful shiny glowing Bowie’s haha .
I have a bunch a black coated knives too that I prefer over the Blued ones .
Just my personal taste .

I am a bass player like you, and I am a working musician, so I know that one has to give away things from time to time due to hard financial times.
Yeah, 90% of my collection is polished, or may be stonewashed or bead blasted.
With some exceptions, like blades with forging marks like some Condor knifes, or a huge Herbertz Tanto. Only my three Ontario SP series knifes, like the Marine Raider Bowie, the SP 8 and the SP 53 Bolo, are coated. And this coating is deteriorating due to hard use, what gives 'em a beautiful used finish.
A friend of mine has the 1917, and the blueing did fade away because of use. So he gave the blade and the guard a sanding and took it to the buffing wheel. This way he got rid of the most of the blueing. It appears to be no fire blueing, but some chemical stuff, and you can get rid of it with some elbow grease - or the right machines.
We will do the same to my 1917, it sure will come out beautiful.
Next I like a lot is the leather sheet with the frog. This makes the knife very authentic.
It's a shame that they don't do the 1917 in high polished, it would be a great knife.
One of my first CS blades was a Trail Master in Carbon V with the brass guard and the nylon sheet, and this one is still with me. It's my favourite knife ever.

I am a fan of the Lionsteel M series and want to get a M5 because of the more bushcrafty blade. Just because those are great knifes and quite affordable. And something different to my Cold Steel SRK, Master Hunter, AK 47, Fallkniven A1, Puma Automesser and other fixed blades I have.
I am quite curious about the Sleypnir steel, I only hear good things about it.
Didn't know that they also have an M7, have to get a close look on this one.
I am looking forward to a review of the knife, if you find the time.

I really like the belly on that Undertaker bowie... better for slicing than a straight-edged knife. It only needs the hawk-bill butt to make it about perfect! IMHO. I'm a dyed in the wool Cold Steel man but that Condor looks pretty handy, want to get my mitts on one and try it out around la estancia.... Not that I need another bowie knife, but ya know how it is.. Ain't it GREAT livin in the USA!!!??!!! Oh, yeah... in the Old West movies, the Good Guys NEVER used a knife in a fight.. any Bad Guy who pulled a knife got an ass-beat by the Good Guy... Knives were just bad form, only used by the evil Bad Guys...

Yep subbed I watch a lot of knife tube dbad Wisconsin edge etc.
My out of the box on the cold steel wild west Bowie was shit!!! The belly wasn't bad, but the bottom had 2 inches above the sharpening choil that didn't have an edge so I had to reprofile from square 1, but it'll shave a gnat's ass now!!!
My arms were furry AF, but then I got the wild west Bowie and now my arms look like a chemo patient's hair!!!
