My next question.
When you look at one of those Timber Wolf commemorative Bowie’s like the Veterans or the Independence, are they considered Western or Raider Bowie’s ??
They have no fillers .
And what about that Case XX Bowie ??
What is that ??
Straight gaurds would be considered Raider Bowie SGaurd would be western our Spanish Bowie. Bagwell gaurd would be a fighter Bowie 👍🏻🇺🇸⚔️🔪🗡

Ah, the W49 Western Bowie knife. I bought mine in 1985 from the Hamilton General Store, in Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone National Park. It is stamped with an "H" And I will never sell it. It was on constant companion when I worked and hiked in Yellowstone, the summers of 85,91 and 95. It is still in great shape. Since I never had to use it to defend myself, from two or four legged critters. Not sure what the steel is, but it holds a good edge.

Wow you have an amazing bowie knife collection. I love the western bowie knives, I have a Schrade Old Timer Bowie and a Timber Wolf Claim Staker bowie knife that I bought from Donnie B All Day. I have an "elk ridge" small hunting knife. Never paid attention to it, but Imade good sheath for it.
I like bowie knives but my favorite by far is the butcher knife. Will you do a video on butcher knives someday Mr. Cowboy? Thank you my good friend. I am constantly learning from you every video clip you produce.

I just won bids on 2 western w49s one is a "D" & the other is marked on the guard. Haven't got them yet but the one with D (1980) is in very nice condition from what I can tell in the pictures. The guard marked is possibly 68-69 & near mint, sheaths are very nice on both also. Can't wait till they get here! Got $350 invested in the pair.

My favorite knife of all time is the original made by Western of Boulder Colorado W49 there's nothing that feels as good in my hand as that Bowie its just the best over case and all others even Randall mades knives but both Case and Randall make one that's nearly as great but the Western is best I my stupid opinion lol

I've been into knives for several decades I'm 59 and use to work at GPK in Troy Il. Back in the 90s GPK IS a big online store now days back then I was the only employee . I've owned several Randall still have a couple and they are my favorite maker except for one knife I hold above the model 1 that's the W49 . Its perfect !
I have to come back and say the Randall model 1 is perfect too but you know what I mean

I sold and traded five W49s four of them I owned at once I have pictures of all four in my collection at once along with 2 kabar James Bowie knives can't recall model number right now something like 1121 I think but anyway all together in pictures along with a Schrade Australian bowie in wood handle and a rubber one and other extremely nice American iconic bowies through health problems paying for meds all are gone and I kick my ass daily now
