First time meeting you. That was so informative. Won’t bore you with issues I’m have while traveling this Summer with my Phonak Audeo M90-RT RITE that I picked up during Covid shutdown in 2020 and had little coaching on using ( 1st time hearing loss diagnose) and my technical knowledge and skill is limited and I want the best experience living conveniently socially and emotionally with hearing aids. You and your presentation on YT was my 1st miracle of the day and I am grateful.🙂

I learned a great deal from your video for setting up my new Phonak TV connect unit. I have a new setting now on my Phomak app that came on called TV connect instead of Blue Tooth connection i use that I use for my iPhone. Not only can I control the volume on my hearing aids but I can also change to any other setting except tv connection like automatic and the tv sound will completely mute and I can hear from my hearing aids again until I go back to tv connection again on the app that connects to the tv connect. hope that helps.

Thank you for a great video. I just picked up a TV Connector V2 yesterday, so I am still getting familiar with it. A few comments:
    1. I want to be able to turn it on and off automatically by plugging the USB power into the TV. This is really a TV function. I found that works well with my Samsung TV, but my Sony TV will continue to provide power with the TV turned off. (Maybe that will be different for others.)
    2. The range is good. Maybe a little less than 50 feet if going through walls. It cuts out for me at the far end of the house.
    3. We have hearing aids from United Health Care. Not Phonak, but compatible. It works fine. They are called Relate.
    4. I was hoping it would connect to two sets of hearing aids at once, mine and my wife's. It improves the TV hearing dramatically and I want us to both benefit. If that can be done, I have not figured out how to do that. If I connect hers, I then lose mine.

great video. You explain well. Although, my Mum stopped using the tv connector as it produces a sort of echo due to the bluetooth connected sound reaching her aids at a delayed rate to the sound from the tv speakers in the room. It was better to recieve sound through just her aids and adjust their volume for balance. I guess it depends how much impairement the individual has because if quite bad then the tv speakers sound wont be heard through the aids to create two sources, or an "echo".

I totally agree about a "Mute" button. It's most annoying that when my wife, or anyone, wants to talk to me I have to, either, turn my hearing connection to the TV off, or switch the TV off. So a mute would be nice. Although I am an experienced user of the Phonak TV Connector, it took multiple calls and visits to my Audiologist for help. I was not aware of your excellent videos, so, thank you.

If you have tap capable Phonaks, then you can pause/play any streamed audio (ie. the TV connector audio stream or iPhone/iPad video streams) by double tapping your ear/aid. You can decide the action in the myPhonak app for each ear, but then if someone wants to converse with you while you are watching TV, just double-tap your ear, the audio stream will toggle (program goes to Automatic), have your conversation, then double-tap again will switch program to TV-connector and you'll continue listening to the TV. Its subtlely different depending on the device, for instance if watching youtube on iPad, you'll pause the video stream, losing no content (in effect), whilst for the TV-connector it toggles "away" from the audio source for you and then back to the last used stream when you continue, hence you will miss TV dialog while doing so, but it works and its very simple and natural (and done from the couch!). HTH

I have Phonak Sonova AG and it looks like everything you have said also applies to this model as well. I got my hearing aids and the TV connect box from the VA. I also downloaded the App to adjust the hearing aids but had a lot of problems trying to get it to work right. I think more detailed instructions would have helped. My problem was, when using the App, my left hearing aid wouldn't connect to the App and I couldn't go any further. I kept trying many times and finally got it to work. I'm very happy that I can now use my App on my phone to control the performance of my hearing aids. I can use that App to reduce the annoying background noise...say at a mall or restaurant...while amplifying the music I listen to on my cell phone, or the person I am listening to, while at those very noisy places.

I have the tv connector and paradise aids. I have hdmi into my Samsung tv and then run an optical line to my receiver which powers the external speakers. To connect the connector I have an optical splitter at the tv with one output to the receiver and the other to the connector. Works ok but the connector doesn’t show the icons for on/off or volume. Yes it’s plugged in and the green light is on and it links to my hearing aids. Why no icons? Your talk above on volume control probably provides a solution but still. Maybe it’s the splitter. Your videos have been very helpful, thanks.

I have a Kirkland 10 hearing aid and I find the "TV Connector" to be the answer to my problem with understanding what is being said on my TV. My issue is that it sometimes disconnects requiring me to either shut the TV off for about a minute or to shut off the TV Connector and turn it back on. I am not sure what causes the disconnect since I have not left my chair, sometimes it occurs when I turn my head. I also found that if I leave the room and go down the hall when I return it will turn on. Any ideas what is causing the problem?

I have the Kirkland 10.0T, a Samsung S22 Android phone, and the TV connector via an optical connection to an LG TV. My problem is that when the phone provides a notification sound to the phone, the TV sound is disconnected for too long a time. TV dialog is missed for notice of a calendar event or spam message that was rejected. Is there any way to lessen the time for reconnection to the TV Connector after a notification? I love that now the Bluetooth remains connected so the wait to use the Easy Line is history. I just wish the same could be done for the TV Connector!

Hi, I did enjoy your video on the TV Connector. I have been using one for 6 months and it has completely changed my TV viewing. I don't have a program for TV Connect on my Phonak App; so it connects through Bluetooth + Mic. I will ask my Audiologist to add the TV Connect + MIC when I see him next week. I do have one frustration with TV Connect app. For some reason the right channel on my hearing aids seems to go out for a few seconds and then returns. This seems to even out but it's just weird. Any thoughts on correcting that? I agree with the mute comment at the end of your video. I would love to be able to mute the TV Connect so I can easily talk to my wife at times.

As a new Phonak user, I’ve been frustrated by brevity in User guides. And I too notice increasing ambient sounds when streaming…. Wish that was addressed. Was spoiled with Resound Phoneclip - however now I am so much better with all word recognition with the Audeo Life P90 units.. And being able to swim/shower without going totally silent is beyond imagination for someone with normal ears Incidentally I’m sleeping with the old Resound One in my ears for security of being “connected” with my world even as I sleep.🙏🙏

This device you show us costs $188 on Amazon. And, if you have more than one TV you want to watch, such a device, you have to have one for every TV unless you want to move the Phonak device to those other TVs every time you switch TVs. If you have 3 TVs then you have to have 3 of these devices....and that is about $564. Those other, earlier Phonak TV devices, used with the older style of hearing aids using the Phonk Compilot II, are much cheaper.

I like the TV connector, but there are some things that bother me about it. The first are the buttons on the device itself, they are the worst! I don't know home many time I have stood in from of it and pressed the power button over and over and over and it doesn't respond at all. Same issue with the volume buttons. I wish they were just simple physical buttons. The other issue I have is the volume adjustment on the hearing aids themselves. Using the button on my hearing aids doesn't really adjust the volume. The buttons adjust the slider in the app between the surround noise and the streaming content. So when you press up on the volume button on the hearing aids, it actually slides more towards the streaming content, and you hear less of the surrounding noise. I wish there was an option in the app to set the buttons to adjust the actual volume.

Sadly, I'm unable to use this as it demands the audio out from you TV be PCM or two channel stereo. For those like me with a Panasonic TV, at least my model, audio out when tuning digital TV stations (ATCS), is fixed at Dolby Digital. Dolby Digital is not compatible with the Phonak TV Connector. Audio out on my Panasonic is not selectable to PCM or RCA two channel stereo. To date I've found no device that will convert Dolby Digital to two channel Bluetooth directly. Workarounds involve two devices and increasing latency. Check the manuals before you buy!

I wonder if your hearing aids have Bluetooth capability. I can only assume they do since they are 5 years old. If your laptop has Bluetooth, pairing should be possible. But if you don't have Bluetooth hearing aids, you could research the Phonak ComPilot II streamer and pair it that way.
Here are some instructions from Phonak.
      www.phonak.com/content/dam/phonak/HQ/en/solution/accessories/phonak_com_pilot/documents/Quick_Guide_ComPilot_connecting_to_computer_029-0267.pdf

This device uses Bluetooth only to make adjustments and control the TV connector. The actual audio is NOT streamed using Bluetooth. The TV Connector uses a "proprietary 2.4 GHz streaming protocol" as stated on Phonak's website. Which makes it a lot like the old wireless or cordless home telephones we all use to have at home. That's why you can have multiple hearing aids connected and listening to the same audio stream. Bluetooth does not allow for this. This is not to say that the Audio is not good quality, in fact it is Dolby certified so the quality is pretty good!
