    if chain sprocket is so inefficient then why are they used in bikes of some reputed companys?

      +Parasar Bhattacharya Great question. There are two ways to make a bike motor work: one being a hub motor, the other being a regular shaped motor with a shaft and sprocket. The second can easily be fit into a regular bicycle without disassembling the wheel, and requires very little R&D from the company. It also provides a gearing ratio. It's easy to find high-voltage, low-amperage motors that spin fast, and the sprocket will gear it down to lower speed with higher torque to turn the wheel. There are benefits there. But physically turning and moving something is always less efficient because of extra energy being required to overcome friction, inertia and air resistance.

      air resistance is negligible in case of sprocket and chain, also the case of friction is lesser, as compared to other vehicles, it is coz you are getting a much higher torque, even if the friction is so much bothering thing and you belive that its making the thing in efficient you can opt for a homemade CVT constant vehicle transmission. it can resolve maximum problem and even get get the efficiency of a electric vehicle to nearly 80% or more, as you will not neet the speed controller and drivers to control the speed, the CVT will do it, its very easy to make if you have an access to a leath machine, welding mechine and drill machine
      As a engineer i would love to help you in that issue, as i am rite now handicapped due to an accident i am unable to do mechanical works, so i would love to help you in that, but what you are making is really cool and keep on with it.
