I bought a mora 2/0 and to make that plastic sheath hold better I split the outward face vertically about an inch with a 3/16" hole and then carving out to the rim in a tight V. The springiness that resulted made it grip the handle better.
P.S in 2021 their hook knives now cost about 30 bucks. Still a great buy.
These two are the best, i have it all, the curved and the knives...The best works these two. An axe and an hand saw, it is all ia need for spoon carving.
Had to heat my 164 to red hot and put it in hydrated lime to get it sharp enable.
Good for you on removing that tip. I've only had to use ceramic and a strop on those blades unless I get a chip. I rubbed some beeswax on those handles to give a bit of a better grip. Enjoy and looking forward to seeing your next spoon.
I hadn't thought of using the ceramic stone on it. I've got some beeswax around so I'll try that out too, Thanks!
Great knives .. they work very well . PS amazon sucks
I got the 120 a couple of weeks ago. My two finger cuts have nearly healed.
Sorry about your fingers. I take it that is was a little sharper than you anticipated?
Philip Green next time make yourself an electrical tape thimble I can't count how many times that's saved my fingers and thumb when carving
Its not a sloyd... The sloyd is 106.
