I'm an Irish Jew 💚💙
Me too! Dads a son of irish immigrants and mom is a Dutch Jew!
@@RileyCrow Wow. Have you been to Ireland? Holland is a beautiful country I went there in my teens and loved how flat it was and not hard to ride a bike. Not like in Ireland. Israel is my favourite country on earth though. It was life changing for me.
Me too! Shalom!
Same bro
my condolences mate
Very interested to watch as my grandfather was the rabbi of the shul that now houses the Jewish Museum
Very interesting video. I'm a Dub, and my late Dub aunt, married a Jew from NI in the 50s(I think), so I have four Jewish cousins, who grew up in Canada - all great people.
My uncle Ben, I was told, was a childhood friend of someone high up in Israel, could even have been PM, I just can't remember, who was also from NI.
I wish nothing but peace and love to the Jewish Irish, and I hope for a prosperous future for you all.
I've seen lots of shameful and ignorant behaviour by Irish people recently and I want to distance myself from that as far as possible. I believe that the people who truly support Jewish Irish, are remaining silent because the din of ignorance is impenetrable.
🇮🇪 ❤ 🕍
I am most interested and will be visiting the Museum on Wednesday 26 August.
Look up the gypsy Jew community 🙏🏾 the native Irish Scots and Brits are from true Hebrew ancestry.
The ten lost tribes of Israel 💪🏾👌🏾.
Way before the yeddish ,polish or Turkish came to these lands and conquered the UK 1046 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Look up the Benjamin Franklins documents in the archives when he speaks about the swarthy Irish and swarthy Welsh 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
True hebrews
Our sixed President. Haim hertzog was and Irish jew. and
His son the leader of the biggest left party in israel is half Irish 😀
Our family traced our dna back to Spain. We were able to follow the markers of our ancestors. We always wondered why we were tok dark to be 100 % Irish. True story
Hello, Chaim Hertzog was not Irish, he was just born on the island, in Belfast to be exact, his parents were Polish. Place of birth does not give nationality. If you were born in China would you be Chinese? 🙂☘️✡️
@@jamesbutler6253 I was born in Belfast grew up on the Shankill. Lots of people are now finding out were hid in the church for decades for fear of persecution. Many were brought up protostant or catholic but have the Jewish dna. Our family did a family history dna and were able to trace our roots. Hense we realised why we are not paled skinned and are very dark. They are called the "black Irish"..we are still Irish as we were born here. North and South of the border.
@@jamesbutler6253 Place of birth DOES define your nationality.
@@thetopcat8946 Being dark is a stereotype. Lots of Jews are fair skinned, blond, red headed and blue eyed. And it is not necessarily from Northern European influence. I am one example. Even King David who was 100% genetically Jewish, was described as fair with blue eyes. The "Black Irish" are not Jews.

Sir Otto Jaffe was mayor of Belfast twice. The people loved him. There is alot of info out there about him. Initially he was brought it bc he was neither Protestant nor Catholic. The longer he was around the more beloved he became. The Lord Mayor Briscoe was also Jewish. Ireland is not an intolerant place
Very interesting and informative video !
This rabbi's a very nice cat. Keep it up the positive spirit, and be proud of what you are.
Great video!
Hello,
One of my Jewish friends has asked me to make a youtube video on Irish Jewish people, as part of my presentation titled "Celebrating our Irish Jewish community" I would like to ask your permission to re-upload this video titled "Being a Jew in Ireland" in my presentation. Thanks for your consideration and if you would like to point me to any other resources from where I could get more information on the History of Jewish people in Ireland I would very much appreciate it.
Is there many kosher and halal facilities?
Great Thanks
Hi there! I've been suffering for years as an Irish Jew stuck in London Beth Din geirut process. They're so rude and won't even hear my case. :(
@@misscrazyfro391 London
They're only interested in conversions for the purpose of marriage, (which IMO would constitute an ulterior motive) so as far as that goes I'm pretty stuck.
Also since Brexit, Ireland would be under the jurisdiction of the European Beth Din anyway.
Can you dump the London Beit Din and get a kosher conversion somewhere else?
@@SDSunriser That's the plan, but I kinda have to start from scratch.
they love their friends in Dublin until those friends come to them with knives
I have a friend who loves drinking and going to different bars but I'd struggling to get into the bars. He's been kicked out of 109 bars but he swears it's not his fault. Strange. Don't know what to think.
This comments section is probably the most depressing I've ever seen.
Nobody even mentioned Leopold Bloom.
That’s a fictional character! Real Jewish people speak for themselves.
Wow some of these comments are crazy. So embarrassing to see other Irish people writing stuff like this, cop on 🙄.
I was in the museum many times nice synagogue upstairs.

Many thanks to this rabbi :-) I will consider about movin' there
YOU WONT MOVE TO IRELAND, GET TO FUCK
Fuck off were full
Wow such hostile responses, calm down lads.
Its about 2 communities
I am from Belfast
It would be to do cross communities
I thought the only Irish Jews were in New York. Separate orthodox and reform congregations - some things don't change...Zei gesund.

Will visit soon
Is it hard to keep kosher in Dublin?
Yep, they apparently boycott any product that relates to “Israel”, funny thing is they don’t know the difference between politics and religion.

There is a stong connection between british occupation in northern ireland and jewish occupation in palestine, saying that is not anti-jewish its just anti-british and anti-Zionist
Yup . You're right . Being Anti-Zionist doesn't necessarily mean to be Anti-Jewish , I'm Jewish , Im proud to be Jewish and I'm Anti-Zionist by myself
@@pischpilot you are not a jew
why is being anti-British ok ? British is an ethnicity, Zionism is a faith.
Irish don't hate Jews,as you said for similar reasons as to what was done onto this country we don't agree in kind with Israel doing same,it's not a case of religion and for people to think it is,are very wrongly mistaken !
When you say Irish you certainly don't speak for many Antrim residents who are descended from lowlanders, Revies and Hebridaeans who fervently support Israel as they do the auld kirk , union and Queenie. Scotties came from Eire and merely returned to hearth and home. Indeed MIss, we'll fly the blue and white along with the Ulster Jack 7/12 with the apprentice boys for sure.
@@ionidhunedoara1491 I’m not sure of the relevance of the point to what Eíbhlin said.
Firstly in the video she was addressing what the rabbi said-which was the sense that there was more hostility towards Jews in Ireland because of Palestine and how the Israelis have acted.
Secondly you pointing to a group that are the exception and not the norm for Irish opinions for Jews isn’t really relevant. And would also mean you’ve as much to aim at the Rabbi as you do Eíbhlin here.
@@beaglaoich4418 Wrong. The Cork incident of 1881 was of hatred for Jews who were not Zionists in any shape or form whatsoever but were merely seeking refuge and the incitement came from no less than the Catholic clergy. Strangely enough the movement to return to their homeland was given impetus by a Cymryc and a Lowlander- Lloyd George and Orde Wingate respectively. As you very well know popular sentiments can run high on both sides of the Shankill but seriously- do you have anything to offer with facts other than what you emotionally identify with right now at the moment????
@@ionidhunedoara1491 I have no idea what you are referring to but I am willing to see the sources you can provide for the “Cork Incident”
Other than that you have gone off topic from the original post so I’ll wait for you to respond to what I said in relation to that
@@beaglaoich4418 Not Cork, but Limerick. Not 1881 but 1904. You can check the Irish Echo if you demand verification. The priest behind the agitation was Fr. John Creagh and Griffith one of the founders of Sinn Fein. How can you say this is not on the main topic when the rowdy mob drove away the Israelites?
Is Judaism a religion or a nationality
Some people feel it is both. We have religious practices but a person is still a Jew even if the don't practice or even believe in G-d. It's complicated. This might help www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/3854897/jewish/Who-Is-a-Jew.htm
Religion . Zionism is a (Shitty) Nationality
Judaism is a Religion with an ethnic component ... For instance you could be born Irish or Italian and then Convert to Judaism and become a Rabbi ! (after a Rabbinic education offcourse). After conversion a person is then 100% Jewish ! Some of the most influential Jews in the Jewish world were Jews by choice ! 🔯
It started when the Creator chose Abraham and the descendants of Isaac, who became the Israelites out of Egypt- freeing them from slavery. But after Jesus Christ, Paul the apostle was called by the Father to spread the way of life to the rest of the world. Because the Messiah came to die for the sins of all mankind. It is a creed and anyone can become a Jew spiritually by the way you live your life. This also means one can be born a son of one of the 12 tribes of Israel but not really a “Jew” if they do not live their lives according to the commandments of the Father.
Most consider it a culture or religion but not a nationality. Places in the world force this upon them and leave them no choice. Not everywhere is modern day America So this depends where you are in the world. in many countries they have in the past and in the present force them to put "Jew" on their passports as a nationality. things like this have gone on for centuries. jews pay taxes in arab nations and are called "dhimmi's"; they were not allowed to own land or go on to higher education in many, that is why so many last names are from things of the earth like gold, silver even fruits and vegetables
The English didn't live in Ireland for millenia...
Synagogue in Cork closed down the other day
GOOD
Thought it was a meal ?
Awesome! Hold on Ireland here come the sharp increases in rent! Lololol
To clarify, it is NOT antisemitic to call out Isreal for impriosning 2.4 million Palestinians in Gaza. Enough. Maybe it is time for the Jewis Community in Ireland to call this out too. Sitting back and constantly playing victim is wearing thin to be frank.
Proud how strong the solidarity movement for Palestine is here, & proud of jewish irish culture, anti-semitisim or any racisim has no place here which is why we feel empathy for palestinians
Palestinians rejected 3 state offers in the 2000s. In the midst of these rejections, Palestinians blew up, in order, a dance club on a Friday night, a pizza joint in the middle of the day, and a hotel ballroom hosting a seder. That you empathize with those people after these actions does not speak well for Ireland, in general. As for this Jewish guy on the other side of the pond, I have a hard time thinking that Ireland has its shit together vis-a-vis perspective on the Middle East. Do you guys get this mad at Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, or Syria, all of whom have territory that used to part of Palestine? Fuck no, you don't.
@@marijuasher would a one state solution with power sharing government work ?
We are not Anti Semite, we are Anti Zionist.
Right . I'm Jewish and i can say that being Anti Zionist doesn't mean being an Anti Semite. The fact that many Zionist use the term Anti Semite to blame people that oppose to Zionism has to stop.
Big difference

You do know that the Irish refused to oppose Hitler and the Nazis, don't ya????
Not the Irish overall, but DeValera and his lot did, saved Southern Ireland from being bombed I guess.
because that would have meant picking a side. the govt wanted to show to the world(and in particular the english) it was a strictly neutral country in WWII. ireland was in no shape to enter the war anyway. your position is ill informed at best.
it should also be pointed out that irish citizens who wanted to fight for britain were not stopped from doing so, british pilots who crashed into ireland were often sneakily let back over the border while germans were detained. finally after the war, while the irish were generally uninterested in the holocaust (not having suffered through the war and having a lot on their plate meant sympathy was not in excess) de valera made sure that many young jewish refugees were accomodated. in fact there is a memorial to de valera in israel for his actions in defence of jews.
you're talking about WWI. in WWII we kinda know and knew that the nazis were evil. just because there are no heroes in war doesn't mean there aren't villains. stories about the camps were trickling out for years before and during the war. it's just that either the stories were considered exaggerated because "of course they are, they're jews" if they weren't flat out ignored.
maboroshi1986 sometimes one has to pick a side. Not to pick a side in WWII was to join the ranks of animals in silence.
Dylan Boland that isnt true. I have read personal accounts in books of people who knew full well what was happening, even watching their neighbors get dragged off to the camps and reporting anyone who would help victims hide from Nazi-friendly authorities. No offense, but you need a better history book.

"I have in former years often declared that the Three Evil Influences of the century were the Pirate, the Freemason, and the Jew."
- Arthur Griffith
You're talking like one of those batshit crazy yanks.
I'm sure even Arthur Griffith would have re-thought that view had he lived long enough, definitely had he seen WW2.
WELL YOU CAN GO AND F..CK OFF CAN'T YOU.

Hate Jews? Then I suggest you immediately using any technology, medicine, or medical procedure created by a Jew. Have a nice life ...
Lol
The Irish have the harp as their national symbol, which has historical ties to King David who played the harp. King David was also red haired or ginger. The Irish are direct descendants of Israel. The Jewish people consist of mostly Judah and Levi. Research Tea Tephi to learn more about this connection between Israel and the UK.
Then why are most Irish people pro Palestine? 🤔
Bullshit irish are celtic pagans israel were from middle east. The two races look v different.
@@hefwxo2866 we’re pro Palestine because we see the manner in which much of the land was taken from Palestinians and then partitioned as just another colonising event, which feels like it has similarities to our own partition.
And being pro Palestine isn’t anti Jewish. It’s judging the state of Israel not the faith of the Jewish people. In the same way one would criticise the USA or Russia or China for their actions.
And I think 2 state religions based on ethnicity and religion is very problematic and we too are an example of that problem in Ireland with partition here
The modern day Jews in Israel today are not descendants of King David. They are false Jews, also spoken of in the bible.
@@NA-wu9bj You need to read up on your obscure history, Irish/British are Celtic/Germanic for sure, but so was much more of the world than we are generally led to believe, you'd be amazed at who is said to of been blond/red haired and blue/green eyed, and at how inexplicably wide spread that physical description is around the world.
They still would of felt welcome had it not being for the high influx of islam's influence since the nineteen nineties.
I must ask you an important question rabbi...you speak of the Irish 'non-Jewish' people feeling very strongly for the 'under dog'...the 'so-called Palestinians'...I am curious to know whether or not there are, or have been any Jewish leaders,or rabbis, such as yourself, who speak out against this terribly false charge of Israel being an apartheid state? I understand that the Jewish population is quite small in Ireland, especially in comparision to my being an American Jew, where we have a tremendous population of Jews who fight against this fallacious belief on a daily basis...I ask you this question because of my obvious concern over the world-wide rabid growth of anti-Semitism to which I can be sure that you are more than well aware of...I knew nothing about this situation, until now...I so worry for the lives of the Jews of Ireland being that the majority of Irish feel so strongly aligned with the 'Palestinians'... are the Jews of Ireland worried?
No answer from the rabbi _____? hmmmm - wonder why?
Cynthia Cuomo Is he even aware this page exist?
Don't be so sure
Guy Eshel Please no politic debates here! It's just a student channel to show projects. Thanks.
BAD GRANDPA_ you are a very sick individual.
Hi Cynthia, a small number of very noisey individuals are anti-Israeli in Ireland; the silent majority feel that Israeli policies towards the Palestinians is counter-productive.
You can't have it both ways. If you are Jewish and strongly in favor of Israel and her policies, you may get some blowback over what is happening in Gaza. It is not antisemitism to take issue with Israel's policy towards Gaza in a polite respectful way but too often Jews will try and label a person as such if they do.
Well said.
Go away ❤
