I traveled around the world for years when eventually it lost it’s excitement with seeing enough became enough.
Settled in New Jersey and eventually retired to the west coast (SF bay area) happy to be near my family and content in what America had to offer.

The Kelly/Kelley's are all over the map. Just like here in the USA. My brothers Michael and Patrick are everywhere too. : )
I paused the video when Westmeath popped up, and searched for my Gram’s family, and yep, there they were! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
COUNTY CORK IRELAND
Thanks for sharing your Map of Irish Family Names.
[7:04] My family name is located on your map in County Cork.
I did not understand the importance of family names to the Irish until I met two men many years ago who were associated with a new partner of mine, surname Allen, in a fund-raising project. While I was in waiting in their office reception room, the two men came out to meet me. They introduced themselves to me, and I introduced myself to them with mutual handshakes. When I pronounced my surname, Coleman, their faces became radiant with big smiles, and one of them replied proudly, "County Cork!". They knew my family genealogy better than I did.
As a result of this Irish Family Map, I discovered that the Allen family is also from County Cork. ☘
My lot are from County Cork too mate
County cork my family Callahan and my wife Fitzmorris
Hollander
Oconnor
Where are oconnors from
Found my lot at the top of Cork cheers mate
Kilkenny here!!☘️
I found Robinson which is my maiden name; my aunt found a lot of our relatives in Ireland when she was doing genealogy for the family. (from Sandi)
I’m a descendent of Marguerite O’Haran-Booth. I’m told that we came from Sligo. She was born 1897-1968. I never got to meet her but I was told wonderful stories. Someday I will get to visit 🍀❤️
Thanks mate i found my lot
My last name is Brady, found it on the map. But am constantly teased in reference to the TV show.
Thanks, amazing, informative and very interesting. From where did this derive?
Interesting
I found my grandmother's maiden name, Stack, and her husband, my grandfather's surname Larkin in a few different counties. Thanks so much for this map of Ireland. Cheers!
Yes lad im a mannion but ma is a larkin
Stack was donald TRUMPS MUMS name I read...scotland area
My grandparents were from co carlow leighlinbridge co carlow
Looking for Tomalty. There are many spellings. Tom(elty), ulty, altaigh etc.. Any connections. I have seen some on maps before.
Cool, my earliest known Irish ancestors are a McHugh and a McManus who married each other in the late 1700s in the county Fermanagh area. And lo', I found both their last names super quickly after finding a good view of Fermanagh on the map at 2:38.
My 2 nd Great Grandparents on my father’s Paternal side were Michael Moloney(sometimes spelt Maloney) and Flora (Florence ) Donnelly. Michael Moloney (Travelling Tailor)came from Cashel, Tipperary, Ireland and Flora Donnelly came from Clonmel, Tipperary , Ireland. Also on my father’s maternal side my other 2 nd Great Grandparents Owen King and Catherine Owens came from Roscommon, Ireland. Myself im from Lancashire, Dngland and very proud to have Irish Ancestors. 😊
Nice video. Did you make the map yourself?
The surname "Griffin" has two primary Gaelic sources in Ireland, which pertain to the towns of Ballygriffey in Co. Clare, and Ballygriffin in Co. Cork. The spelling "Ó Gríofa. I have traced my one part of my family history to Ireland and found cousins too. But I cannot see that name of your map?
My family are from Fermanagh and bingo! There they are on the map 👍😁
I couldn't find Massey which is supposed to be from the Roscommon, East Roscommon, Longford regions.
Could you tell me where this information was derived from? And where one might find it?
We Kelly’s are all over the place!
Is there audio with this?
I thought my family (Heagle) was from the Cork area, I see Healy and Begley maybe?
Anyone know where the name Reazin comes from? Was told we had an ancestor with that name came from Ireland.
Was looking for Swords....couldn't find it....but they were all born there
Well done Kevin. O'Mullally / Mullally or it's derivative Lally, originating in South Galway and now also prominent in Tipperary and Kilkenny is not included
My name is Keating the name came from the Norman invasion of Ireland, it supposedly means firer arrows. Did not see it anywhere on these maps.
My Grandparents were both from Sligo Gilmartin and Leonard, my eyes are so bad I cant see if they are on there or not 🤣❤. Well done for putting this all together! X
@@richardsamuels4266 thank you! X
My great great great grandfather was a Leonard. Do you happen to know if the name was spelled “Lennard” at any point in history? I’ve found US Census records which have both spellings.
@@RASAAH777 i think it most likely has, name spellings get changed a lot dont they...even people changing their whole surname..
I live in galbally not too far a way .I assume your people are from the foot of the galty mountains
@@Mftw767 all I know is they were from Tubbercurry....The Leonard's had a farm and many of my grandfathers siblings moved to America....My Nan's mum and dad the Gilmartin's were Teacjers...
I would love to visit the area one day xx
I was looking for Wade which was my maiden name. I believe there is a village called Wade in Ireland and I understand my family went to the UK from Ireland several generations ago. Does anyone know of such a place?
The surname Wade is mainly Country Antrim, other variation is “Waide”. Not sure of a town
what's happened to the sound?
I have some serious doubts about the efficacy of this map. The family name Moran dominates the Sligo/Mayo border and the town of Ballina is full of shops with the name above, but they are not shown at all on this map.
Ayy I'm a Moran. Apparently there was 2 Irish Moran familys that migrated to the US a long long time ago.
Any information on the surnames Courtney and size?
Cheers, interesting map. My name is Jason Patrick Quinn. All the first born boys in the line are J -- Patrick Quinn, my Grandfather Joseph and my Great Grandfather John and so on.
Looking for doake believe Dromore and Craigavon 2 places and somewhere near Cork white something
Where is Gorgan from in Ireland? Google says Cork and Kerry. With it being from Harrigan and Hanrahan before Irish Anglicization
Cummins family has been in Kilkenny/Waterford area for +400 years...... didn't see this reference ?
I am surprised by how "accurate" the presentation is my family Clarke shows in Co Meath - where my Dad's from, a cousin married a Durkin from Co Sligo you have Durkan another cousin married a McWeeney from Leitrim and again on the money.
@1:19 McNickle, McKenney next to each other bottom center.

I can't seem to find the Bann clan here😐
Are they Aglesised names or purely Irish.?
Is Langan in there my eys are not the best anymore, thanks, fun video, allLove
Langan is at 5.47 just above the name O' Donnell in the county of Galway.
Also in the county of Limerick just below the names Quinn and Hogan.
...i also don’t see gethings or lanphere which are french in the callan kilkenny area
I keep searching for Jackson's. I never met my father. All I know about him was he was W B Jackson from Alabama. I know at least one Jackson family came to the US. I don't know what to believe because they are listed as Quakers. I don't know why given all that happened in Ireland why would you want to be a Quaker? It's interesting that my wife is a second generation Scot. My grandmother was English and immigrated to the US. She was a high end milliner and made hats for the wealth women in New York.
NO Bradley there some in Co Meath
At marker 2:34, what area of Ireland is this?
Look for the larger size font for the county names...I see counties Sligo/Leitrim/Cavan/Tyrone/Fermanagh/Armagh at 2:34
Where are the LISTONs in Limerick???
What about the name Gillespie place name ?
I am trying to find Mullins, it is quite difficult to go through this mappingof so many Sir-Names. If anyone could help me, I would thoroughly appreciate it. Thank you But I am still trying!
There's lots of Mullins in Cork, maybe start there.
O'Madden from Connaught, although the spelling over the centuries has changed. I believe at one point it was O'Madiangn or something like it. My Children are 1st Generation Americans, I've kept My Maiden name so that Generations down the ages can be traced back to the 1st O'Madden in America.
Any Pollock families out there ?
Our Family Name is O'Dopey, so what part of Ireland are we from I wonder?
The O'Dopey's hail from a small island off the west coast of Ireland called the Isle of FaakOff.
@@dominicestebanrice7460 Thankee, tobe sure, tobe sure. Top of the Morning to yer!

ifinally saw a name close to my own. thought we didnt exist in Ireland, although our ancestral history says we did.
What does it mean,.. some names are bigger than others?
Not sure it means much since there are plenty of O'Connors in Kerry but it's barely on the map 😁
@@pauloconnor5101 I'm a relative of Hannah Rosemary O'Connor. She's buried in USA but I can't find her information. I was told she was from Dublin in County Cork. Thanks for listening!!
I don't see Starr. Many were Captains from 1300's to 1800's then immigrated to US.
Does anyone here know anything about the Lillis surname. Some have said it came from lawless I guess that would mean a robber?
My family came from a town near Limerick the name of the town began with a K that's all I know.
My Dad's name was James Oliver Harrison. His hair was coal black but all 12 of his brothers had red hair. I always wondered if his family was from Ireland or Scotland. Is the name Harrison from Ireland?
Oh, have over 51 percent DNA found in Scotland.
Harrison yes irish of huguenot descent
McKernan ?
Didn't spot my name anywhere.
its got me out in the ocean, wtf does that mean?
Thank you ,
This is very interesting.
I'm looking for Family name Fynn.
Henry Francis Fynn , he came to South Africa in 1820. My grandfather told me that he came from the North.
Fynn is an alternative spelling for the more usual "Finn", both of which are derived from the Gaelic sept the "O'Fionnaigh" who were primarily based in Sligo though with branches further east. The "y" indicates that his branch were from the ancient territory of Oriel, which is now parts of South Armagh and North East Monaghan in Ulster, so that would tally with him coming from "the north" too.
@@SonOfViking Thank you.
This is most interesting.
The O'Flynns or MacFlynns are from the Antrim area of Northern Ireland
@@catherinedelaney147 Not the same name. "Flynn" derives from the Gaelic "flainn" indicating either ruddy complexion or red hair, and therefore appeared as a cognomen quite independently in several parts of the country, normally to distinguish a family branch from its original sept, which would have used a completely different name in each case. "Fynn" is derived from the Gaelic "fionn", meaning fair of complexion or fair haired, and would have arisen in much the same way, but in fewer areas that we know of. This difference is also reflected in the number of people using these respective surnames today throughout the island - the "Flynns" (whose largest concentration would have been in Munster, not Ulster) far outnumber the "Finns".
@@SonOfViking I'm a fynan ,they came from mayo but the thing is in Denmark thier is a island called fyn ,I seen it spelt fynan, but the fynans all die of c.o.p.d or alpha 1 which is common in the North of Europe, they say if you have alpha 1 you from the Vikings
Looking for miley, millea or similar. Anybody help out.
The surname Miles is fairly common in the north if that's any help.
@@alansimpson596 thanks for the info.
I viewed on another site that Mac is Irish and Mc is Scottish. Now this map is showing the opposite. WHAT ?
Mc is Irish!
@@joebyrne3159 Mc is the anglicized version of Mac.

Thanks for posting. Every name in Tyendinaga Township Ontario Canada is on there. We all came over just before or during the English Genocide of the 1840's. They are still clinging to the north. Unbelieveable. Maybe someday.
Pathetic and full of hate Paul
My ancestors fled the engineered Famine to. My 3x great grandfather married a girl of Irish parents born in Wales. They move to Stockton N/E England. They had 21 Children. There's thousands of us on Tyneside. Up the Gaels. 👍

Imagine how different things would be if not for the starvation and persecution of the catholics that drove so many irish to flee to America - those not shipped over as slaves by Cromwell.
I wouldn't be here. I want reparations!

Oh not criticizing this map but you would have to show england and scotland in any approach to Irish Sirs especially not to disinclude Welsh and cornish. It is still not even close as you also have to include the Whole Iberian coast and parts of Europe all over, why because the Irish mercenary everywhere not for race sake but for correctness.
Leyden here father a sligo man me English
