I used a "battle Royale" ruleset for an event at the games club at my college, It's 8 players on Great Cave Offensive Items on low or medium based on preference. 10 minutes 1 stock 200 HP And then optionally screen killing items like master ball, final smash, etc off due to being SUPER op. It feels legitimately tense and like a battle Royale, scavenging the open field and platforming for items, then trying to engage and disengage tactfully while keeping as much HP as possible. It was very fun
Dragoon is the screen clearer exception, gathering all 3 on a massive stage with 8 players should be HEAVILY rewarded. (Make sure to turn of special flags too if you try this! They can be super broken since it's only supposed to be one stock and there's room to hide with it)
