For those of you who have recently had jaw surgery how's recovery going?!
Do you have any advice for getting jaw surgery I get mine done February 9, 2022. And I’m very scared
Watch my series, this video included ❤️
You'll be fine! And so happy with the results!
@@brandeedeaguero1455 how ya doing man
@@tylerhallam8935 I had my surgery done February 9 and today been the 6 day and I been struggling on eating liquids
I am currently 6 days post op and I am so physically exhausted. I’m usually up, moving around, and being productive. However, like this jaw surgery took a toll on my physical energy. I’m definitely learning to not push too far especially so early on.
Oh ya. I'm the same. Sitting around was driving me crazy but anytime I tried to move around I was exhausted! You'll feel better after 1.5-2 weeks enough to move around a bit more 🥰
Really encouraging to see a positive video from someone older than 18 who did this. Thanks for sharing!
Hello Kait it warms my heart to see that you are so happy and doing so well =)
Thanks John 🥰
I'm watching your videos trying to find out all I can. I had my braces on 9th March 2021 and I'm due for surgery this June. I have so many things going through my head right now and your answering a lot of my questions. So thank you. I'm glad your surgery was successful I wish you all the best for the rest of your journey
I am glad you are finding my videos helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions and I will answer if I can 🙂
Thanks for the update Kait!
Thanks for watching 🥰
I really wish I could just go ahead and get the surgery. having an underbite that effects the symmetry of your face and makes you so self conscious and anxious pretty much whenever you’re around people sucks. but I have to wait until I’m 20. But your videos have really been so helpful with everything!
You'll be 20 before you know it 🥰 Try to just embrace it for now and look forward to the future. I know it can be tough to not be self-conscious about how you look... But I promise you you notice it more than others do.
I’m 12 days post op and I can relate to so much of this! Puking is the worst!
I’m getting jaw surgery this Thursday! Thanks for sharing your experience
How did it go?! 🙏
@@MoreKait first few days were really rough but overall it went well. I’m so excited to finally have the right bite. One thing I didn’t expect is I can breathe way better through my nose
This was such an interesting video thank you for sharing your experience! You look amazing by the way! 🤩♥️♥️
♥️♥️
It is almost over now!!! It all went well and it's going to get even better!!! I'm very very happy for you!!! Many kisses!!!
♥️♥️
I only watched the first half but I am 5 weeks tomorrow and your videos are so helpful and I agree with everything you said. I had a Class II Division I bite (a deep bite) and I at rest I would hold my tongue in between my teeth 😳. Now post surgery I am practicing proper tongue posture but I still catch myself putting my tongue between my teeth so it takes time to memorize new tongue posture. I also went to the ortho at 3.5 weeks and am in bands 24 hours a day… I was told 6 months in braces but like you I’m so ready to get them off and especially now with the bands it’s hard to talk without a lisp.
6 months will fly by! And just think how good your teeth are going to look with your new bite with the braces off 🤩
Let us pray we can keep our tongues in check 😂 and not get lazy!
You got lucky. I'm still super swollen and I'm on my 3rd week. I had to request an extra 3 week off to recover because I still can't talk properly. I can't wait for this to be over and to be able to start eating a hamburger again.
You'll get there! I found my recovery wasn't linear. It felt like it would go well for a week and then plateau... You'll be eating burgers again in no time 🥰
Glad you are doing so well and see so happy!!
❤️❤️
Good to see you are doing well. Thank you for the update. You said that you had to go to work? Curious what type of work you’re doing? You are Very good at doing those videos 👌🏻
Content creation and my coaching is my full-time job! That's what I meant 🥰
I have surgery 11/13/23. Excited and scared at the same time. It’s been 3 yrs in the making.
Wow I lasted 5 years with my braces, things have come along an improved since I've got them. Great to hear Kate, love the braces on you by the way. But I understand how exciting it is to finally get them off 😁
🥰🥰
You are very pretty. I had ortho work 3 1/2 years for deep bite when I was 40. I was pretty good with the retainer but here I am again with braces at 76. Yep, 76. I started to break the bottom teeth again because of faulty alignment. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience.
Hi Kait would you say you have recovered fully from double jaw surgery or do you still have numbness? I’ve found your blogs so informative actually yours are the best I’ve watched !
Im now 2 weeks post double jaw surgery, can’t believe I’ve done
it at the ripe old age of 59, surgery has fixed my cross bite but has also stopped my sleep apnea !
Thanks for all the time and effort you have put into your videos 🤗
Thanks, Kait, for a very informative video. I am glad you feel much better. Thank you for keeping us updated on your progress. You are a warrior!
I too did have a retainer & I hated it. I had the exterior one that I just never wore. I was mortified when they wired it to my mouth! I cut it off. I mean I was in high school! 😩 I’m sure my teeth shifted but I don’t care.
I got all my wisdom teeth out too. They normally recommend it so it won’t mess up with the dental work. That was so easy. I was like you, no pain at all. I was literally eating a cheeseburger the same day. 😂 But I did wish I had iced it. I still have a grayish bruise marks to this day 30 years later.
Retainers are the worst! I wish I understood when I was younger how important they were. I was lucky in a sense that I needed to get braces again for this surgery because I could notice the shift in my teeth from not wearing the retainer and it haunted me 😂
Oh wow the bruise has lasted this long! That is nuts.
Glad to here your happy with the results. Are you still icing and doing red light therapy directly?
Not icing at all. Haven't done that for the past month. Ice roller occasionally. RLT daily though 🥰
This video was so helpful!!! Before watching this video I was scared, nervous and I was overthinking everything like what "liquid foods to eat and everything" , thank you for this!! I am due for surgery on july 19th for this summer :(, although I have one question, did you have to buy a big pillow so that you could sleep upward after surgery?
Hello, I suffer from the same problem as you. I am 18 years old. I had a joint resection operation due to excessive growth of the right lower jaw. Now I am taking the surgical procedures to perform braces to complete the surgical plan. Then my surgeon will perform a major operation to return the lower jaw to its original position. I am not confident in my decision and I am nervous. Do you advise me to do it??
Hi Kait, thanks for sharing your experience.
After the surgery and getting the braces off after recovery stage did you keep the metal plates/screws in your mouth? Or did do you get another surgery to remove them?
It is good to learn from your surgery story. Did you have to pay this procedure out of pocket or does Australia have a national health service like the UK?
I have private health insurance which covered a significant portion (the hospital stay would have been $40,000 without 😂) but it cost me $10k out of pocket including orthodontics and everything.
That’s an amazing recovery for 2 months. I’m almost 2 months post op but I cannot open my mouth that wide. My jaw is sooo tight.
Start doing stretches! I was afraid to move to much at the start but streching it open and applying pressure on my lower jaw with my fingers helped.
@@MoreKait my bottom lip and chin is numb still is that normal ? I can’t open my mouth more than 1 finger in my jaw is still tight
Thx 4 sharing💯
♥️♥️
🥰 im so happy for you
Thanks Kaitlyn! 🥰
From Kaitlyn hehe
Hey!! Was it hard for you to breathe right after surgery? Did your nose get blocked??
Looking amazing btw!! :)
No, I actually noticed right away that it was A LOT easier for me to breath through my nose! There would be some dried blood at time during the first week which made it slightly difficult since you aren't supposed to blow your nose, but overall breathing was better right away 🥰
Its been exactly a week since i had my surgery its truly been so hard to recover im in pain cant eat except liquids and can't sleep my face is only getting more and more swollen its exhausting i wish it ends soon
If you ever have to take pain meds again, ask the doctor to prescribe anti-nausea medication.
I’m getting my wisdom teeth removed in a few weeks so I can get started on my surgery process!
Exciting! 😁
Im almost 2 months long and still a bit swollen, how long did the swelling take for you to look normal?
Could you tell your age? I know they say its harder to recover after 25 and im 28 so just wondering!
I'm 28 😁
Why would it be harder to recover after 25?
Shoot my situation is bad my insurance ended at the end of the year and i broke it a day before new years so they fixed it but now no check ups
where did you get your surgery? I'm looking for a doctor. Theres no surgeons in my area
Adelaide, South Australia. Where do you live?
I am 10 day post op
When did you started to eat solid foods
I could eat solid (but soft) food right after surgery. At 5 weeks I was cleared to eat anything.
I’m on day 20 post opp still swollen when does it go away?
same bruh
I found I plateaued in my swelling around the 4-6 week mark and then it continued to go down. I would say now (almost 3 months post op) about 95% of the swelling is gone. Hang it there! 🥰
YOU WORKED THE NEXT DAY???? 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
After my wisdom teeth, not this surgery.
Maybe a stupid question but how did you puke? 😭😭 could you even open your mouth
I could only open it maybe a cm 😭 It was gross hahaha 😭😭😭
For me when I puked I had enough space to puke it’s just liquid anyways
🙂👍☕
