- I got to visit the 125 year old schooner Segelfartyget S/Y Ellen for 3 days! I helped out as a deckhand, setting sails, scrubbing the deck, assisting with the mooring, among other things.
It was a great adventure, and I'm glad to show my experience in a little video vlog! Enjoy!

Hey Cassie! That smell onboard!... Love that smell! ;) You may remember the Finnish Terva lozenges from Leijona, which can be bought duty-free on the Finland ferry. Those little candies that are so good! There is also now an alcoholic shot drink in a bottle, called Terva, to buy in the same duty-free shop on board. These two, (the lozenges and the shots) smell just like my grandfather's wooden boat on Åland. The one that was always tarred with real tar and I can imagine your clothes smelled like a boat dock in the archipelago, or a wooden boat.

I live in a port, two centuries ago, They went fishing for cod off the coast of Newfoundland. Since then we have celebrated “cod” every year. It’s a gathering of old sailboats that dock and it tells of the hard life of the sailors who crossed the North Atlantic. It's an extraordinary celebration where we sing and dance in memory of the sailors "Terra Nova". thank you Cassie for the sea trip.⛵❤❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💋

Hi Cassie, what a wonderful experience you had! We sailed in support of you and your "new" job! There are crew experiences coming soon as the hurricane season is about over! Check the Bahamas and other ports for "crew" jobs. I think sailing for a season would expand your world! However whatever you decide to do I know you will do it well and you will have a good time!

I drove truck for about 1.8 million miles then bought a sailboat. There seems to be a truck driver to sailor pipeline!
