When I tried playing Nicktoons Basketball on 86Box I noticed a lot of flickering that are absent on real hardware. It was still playable but still flashy.
@@tiges most 32-bit software can be finagled into working even on windows 11 if you try hard enough. for 16-bit windows software, otvdm works a lot of the time, though it seems to sometimes have issues with installers for me; stuff usually works fine once installed.
Are you emulating Windows 95 or 98? I am trying to run it with 86box using 95 RTM (only version available in my language) and the performance is shit. Host's specs are i7 7700, 16GB RAM and RTX 3070. Emulated specs are Pentium MMX233, 64MB RAM, S3 Virge DX and Voodoo2 SLI. I can't run the game on any res above 640*480 (using any higher resolutions just revert it back to some weird 540*3xx resolution), also flickering sounds even with AmnHLT installed.
Uhm, I would think it is more about trying to make it run with a voodoo2 GPU. I can't imagine the cpu is being emulated, since the vast majority of instructions from the 200MMX are in any newer intel processor. As far as I am aware, there are no instructions that were ripped out from that time. Edit: apparently I was incorrect and it does emulate the CPU. Weird, I would think that would be the whole advantage of running it on x86_64 hardware, as opposed to an ARM system, where they would have to emulate the CPU.
nah is just bad performance, the only thing is PCem just not emule all the variety hardware that 86box does, but is because Sara left the proyect years ago
@@francisco5171 86box has better accuracy according to their site and have disabled some shortcuts that lead to faster performance but also some regressions according to them

I did exactly the same test, but the game runs at about 75fps, but the sound keeps chopping and crashing, I tried a million configurations and I couldn't solve the problem. My CPU is a Ryzen 9 5950x at 5.0GHz. I've already tested with Pentium 1, Pentium 2, Celeron 500Mhz, All possible configurations, with 32,64,128,256,512 of memory. I changed sound card, dug up wood burning plane weather drivers and couldn't get it to work properly... 😂

PCem can only be used as standalone, it can't be pairing with rocketlancher due to ghost process on exit and lack of hooking (unable to detect exit and unable to control the emulator).

The game requires a Pentium III processor. PCem is too slow. But this is a Windows game, then mayby Compatibility mode will work.

I installed Windows 98SE. I have ISO available in my language, and then installing the community service pack, which adds a lot of features.
thats the problem with these emulators. they need nasa pc's...
seems pretty similar in fps if you ask me. which one is easier to setup in your opinion?
I think pcem has better FPS. I only have used PCem in the past thought, so I can not compare...
imho PCEM is easier, bcoz supporting the profile from the beginning. 86box makes it easier to mount folders as a CD.
PMMX 200 is too much for the I7 6600K, try lowering the emulated specs to get good sound and graphics in sync

If the emulation speed is around 100%, that's fine. If it drops below 90%, then the sound problems begin. But why u have problem? Check CPU core load.
maybe you need to set it to run on only a single core.
@@HamguyBacon All tests were run with a single core and CPU utilization is almost zero. It doesn't make sense, I even gave up 😆

Graphics emulated? You need to emulate the worst CPU that could run a game. Take note also that some CPU like Cyrix are not for 3D.

thanks tiges! and dont forget 86box its slow and suck and pcem faster and better!
