This better continue because I'm invested
Dakota Castonguay same... I want a show with these characters and this story lmfao
I think this is a great representation of the struggle that, not only Koreans have, but any other immigrant nationalities. Many people don’t realize some of the real struggles millions of Americans go through every day.
True that
I honestly agree too.
Dominic Shaheen my parents worked so hard to make a good life for me but since they worked hard and kept going we pretty much stable enough to have a good house good cars and stuff so if you're an immigrant just know you can do it too if my parents can you can
Dominic Shaheen 'real stuggles millions of *Americans* go through' uh
... *don't you mean 'immigrants living in America'?* If you're American, needing a visa to live in America, which is the topic of the video, wouldn't be an issue to begin with.
Regina Phalange recognizing people coming here and becoming apart of our culture makes them “American.” It’s a culture that welcomes people not turns them away. Just an opinion and I know there’s the legal side of it too, but creating a culture that makes others feel welcome and a part of something bigger is the end goal either way.
Great video! Buzzfeed's Korean vids are always a pleasant surpriese.
Please make this a series. The characters are so interesting.
Agree. Hehe
agree here
as a korean, noticing korean subtitles in non-korean channel gives me a strange feeling lol.
same here ahahaha
Seeing the Korean title is weirder XD
"I hate dental school , I hate teeth I hate it more than my period" 😂 idk why that made me laugh so much
lillys. joon I
lillys. joon Ikr. 😂
lillys. joon ARMY
Nabeeha Iftikhar ARMY
Lol and that part where she dreamed her teeth were all mangled and weird was funny too.
I'm a Korean studying in the US and this video makes me so sad cuz Devin's situation is what I'm most worried about. Would love this video to be a series buzzfeed
XX C what actually he worried about btw? I kinda dont get it.
If he doesn't get a job in 6 months he'll lose his H1-B. The H1-B is a work permit if he doesn't have it he won't be allowed to legally work inside the United States, and will be forced to go back to Korea.
Where do you live in the USA?
how's it going now ?? are you still in the US??
I am not Korean, but as an international student dealing with all those visa craps, I totally understand the stress. Still dealing with it now. There is no ending for it.
how's it going now ?? are you still in the US??
It's kinda sad how accurate this is to me. I'm a Korean living in America and all of these struggles are extremely relatable. I hope that everyone out there as a foreign person living in the states has a merry Christmas!
Kelly Shin
We don’t know each other but as a child to immigrants who works hard and struggles often, I want to tell you that I’m proud of ya! Keep working and don’t give it up!!! I know it’ll be worth it in the end. You got this. Happy holidays to you!
I'm a child of political refugees and I see this as self victimization. sorry bout it
I am an Korean living in America. Wish your and my luck in 2018.
I feel like this can go to all immigrants not just Koreans.
Exactly. And no offense to koreans at all but MOST of them(not all) come from a wealthy background with educated hardworking parents who support their kids. People from southeast asian like myself, come to america with a very poor background and parents who arent very educated and know very little english. I feel like china/japan/korea immigrants who come to america have a better chance because their own country is economically successful.
iamgem maybe now but my Chinese family members when they came they had it rough. My mom didn't get a chance to finish high school because she had to work. Most my family members ended up working at restaurants.
Yeah every immigrant has it hard :/
True many immigrants share similar struggles. This video was just a peek from the specific perspective of koreans, since each ethnicity has different experiences in america
It’s funny- my dad parents came from southeast asia as a child, and my mom from korea. But both were poor. I think it really is a case by case basis, but overall, yeah koreans tend to be less poor.
6:37 *the classic kdrama "piggybacking the girl" move*
_nice one_
Where was the drunken kiss?? It's not a kdrama without a drunken kiss!!!
I can totally relate every single aspect of this film. Thank you so much for capturing them so good. For every foreigner out there, working so hard to stay in this country, be brave and never EVER lose hope!
BOY GRABS HIS KIMCHI. I'M CRYING. Real talk though, this is a great series. I hope there's another part.
Laira Chan IKR good kimchi is hard to come by
I'm gonna be known as "Kimchi boy" from now on huh? you know what? I like it
Kenji Kumagai kimchi kenji
kenji kimchi kumagai sounds better no?
Kenji Kumagai oh my god yes
this is true for all if not most immigrants in the US and other countries. The fact that buzzfeed is taking on these issues if even through small skits is a great sign. We need to be more aware that not everyone is living life as well as we think they are, there are struggles (especially immigrants) that they must go through that we will never have to , even being all white is a privilege, most times just because you are born in the country doesn't mean that everyone accepts you. ,Thankfully i live a life where i am not not subject to racism constantly , it isn't perfect but i know i do not go through this problem as mush as others.
Shout out to whoever decided to produce this, and came up with the idea, you are going in the right direction.
So true. I have been in the US for 10 years and am still on a student visa. I have obtained associate, bachelor, and master degree. All in the hope that I can obtain sponsorship from a company. However, the final round of interview when you ask for sponsorship, most of the time the company will refuse to do so, especially in the last year when Trump attempted to make it harder for international students to get H1B. Yep, there are people who say there is an easy way, marry an American. I would, if I love them for real. I would not lie and marry for the sake of living here. “You are lucky you have an opportunity”. I still feel I am lucky to initially have been able to come to the US and obtain my associate degree. I have worked my butt off and supported myself since then. I am grateful for family and friends who always have my back. If I don’t make it at the end, at least I have given my best. And you know, if you don’t have it, make it. Thanks for making this short.
indonesian?
Sastro Sudarmo Korean maybe
Patricia, I feel you. Damn, 10 years? It/s 5 yrs in less than 4 months for me and I already feel too much. Pressure from family and age, I love being here but sometimes ask myself, does it worth it?
Thank you for sharing your struggles, hope all of you who's in the same situation can achieve whatever you've worked so hard for
This insanity needs to stop. I hope you found a way to stay here!
2:12 She sacrificed her hair for the short film 😂 bobbed hair looks nice 👍
it could have just been extensions.
Or a wig
She did have a haircut. She posted it on her own youtube channel. Prolly they just included it in the video to make it appear more dramatic.
Cool, do you have a link to that video?
It's just cutting her hair to a medium length
This would make a great concept for a Korean drama.
this has nothing to do with your comment but I really love your pic xD Kumamon in motion ...
do you like Yoongi?
I was thinking that too!
Kanon Machray (': yes
You mean American drama with Koreanism?
deee lol
The montage of Claire getting ready for interviews and practicing her English was too real. Amazing video.
This was so good! Everyone's acting and portrayal of people from different backgrounds really filled up this story, even though there were lines that weren't said or endings to stories that we didn't see. It goes to show how a good set-up can help viewers "fill in the blank" at the end.
Why tf are people commenting 'any Bts fans here?‘ Y‘all this is a video about Korean People not Kpop know the difference ffs
exacly
Romy calm down!
That’s like watching a regular American video saying “any celebrities here????”
Well..I'm an Italian living in South Korea and I've been through the exact same things...It's extremely hard to find a sponsor :( Unfortunately, being a foreigner is really hard in almost every country in the world.
Nice!

This was so good! Evan needs to keep making more videos like this
they should make this into a series. this is amazing
some of y’all in the comments section are just talking about the kpop/kdrama vibes but i hope you realize this is happening so much more often than you think, especially for koreans (but definitely applies to all immigrants!!!). it’s never addressed but there’s always a racial prejudice against asians. :(
DryCerealPhil Props to you sir/madam.

This just gave me mind-blowing effect right after watching. Love this so much.
If y’all looked at the credits and who wrote it you’d know it was Evan the guy with the brown hair in the video who got kicked from his company. Also if you watched more buzzfeed videos you’d know they have a lot of Korean employees at buzzfeed. You’re saying that they’re not paying attention to other groups but there’s a whole channel dedicated to their Latino employees ( Pero Like ) and include a lot of their employees backgrounds and traditions in videos. So this one video written by a korean , expressing the troubles they and heir friends have had to go through as koreans, in America isn’t going to make buzzfeed an all korean channel. Just enjoy it for once, Evan and everyone else on this worked well and i’m happy they shared their experience with us.
Omg the kimchi jar
I SAW YOUR COMMENT SOMEWHERE! Plus I also died at the kimchi XD
Killing part😂
we need more of this. buzzfeed please turn this into a series!
😭😭😭 That was so good! I cried when I saw this video. I remembered how it was like for my parents to come to America but I never knew it would be this hard! Please make this into a full series!
Odd feeling Ive spent half of my life in the United States, all my friends, belongings are all here, but after I graduate I just might not be able to stay here and see those friends again. Feels like I dont belong here, but have no one to blame, just gotta work harder than others
Half of your life and you still feel you don't belong here 💔💔 ah that made me sad.... i hope everything turns out good for you. Good luck.
Hi, I know what you feel. I didn't fit into Korean education because my classmates didn't like the liberal, unique thoughts so I started studying overseas at a young age. Now I've grown up, graduated, and with all my friends, education, and a decade of life here, its hard to think about going back. I guess its just something I need to put my mind into, and think that its not the end, and there are other ways and possibilities to a better future. Good luck to you, and to everyone out there. Happy Holidays!
Ah, I’ve lived in Korea all my life. Why is it that living in America is hard?
I feel ya. I haven’t been here for most of my lives as you guys have but i did spend a significant time of my life in America. It was harder for me to get into my dream school bc of my immigration status but I did get in and I’m excited to start a new era of my life here. But no matter what, the feeling of not belonging still lingers in the corner of my heart. I can’t go back or live the same way home country because now I’m a lot different than most people there but I also don’t feel like I belong here because having been raised in a different culture and society, i’m Still very different from most people in America. This is really weird feeling. Sometimes you go like “screw it!! I am who I am regardless of the country I’m in and the difference isn’t a big deal!” But then on many days you feel like you want to disappear bc you’re not fully wanted/accepted anywhere.
Good luck, you'll succeed 💫🌟⭐️
If you think this is invalidating your own struggles, you misunderstood the video. This is just showcasing another facet of American immigration/cultural differences that a lot of people suffer/deal with. It's not a competition of "who has it worse", it's just explaining and showing another area of life that not all of us deal with but need to know about in order to keep perspective.
Full length feature please 👏🏼
I loved this so much. We need a full movie
If this was a series....would definitely watch it.
Same
IC Henry 네. Except this is more K-Real life than K-Drama
Korean series are addictive
thats actually pretty good idea
IC Henry couldnt agree more~!!! :D
The stress..its all very real, I'm chinese korean and my ex was a J-1 intern. She was sponsored by a Korean company in America which means most of the time you are faced strict and harsh management when compared to American companies, where they do not get day offs on most US holidays. And when asked to work overtime you cannot decline. On top of that barely making minimum wage..many of our friends who could not endure ended up quitting and had to go back to Korea.
This needs to be a series!
As a Korean who got sponsored by an American company for my h1 visa and finally got my green card last year, so can related to this video. I spent so much money during those 10 years while I've been here in America. but I am still a foreigner and still have a risk that can be deported back to South Korea any time for very minor mistakes like fighting with somebody or DUI etc, if I want to have an American citizenship then I have to wait another 5 years so during those times I have to manage myself not doing anything wrong, Many Americans don't understand my kinda situations but Staying legally in America as a foreigner is actually really hard, even getting a part time job as an international student is illegal in America. but still a lot of Americans think that we are stealing their jobs. so sad.
thank you for sharing your experiences, they are very interesting to hear. i am so sorry for what you have to go through everyday and during your stay in america event hough i don't live there myself. stay strong !!
Sorry to hear you've had a rough time. However, the Americans who think you are "stealing their jobs" are poorly educated and only want to point fingers at someone rather than themselves. I'm sorry you deal with such ignorance. Know that what they say is in no way remotely true. Funny, I am an American living in South Korea now - I love this country but foreigners here deal with their own struggles while constantly sticking outside of the Korean idea of normal / culture. But all we can do is ignore the people who try to bring us down and try to make the best lives for ourselves :) Best of luck to you.

This looks like a Korean drama
Jailin Martinez
That's what i was thinking
is there a korean drama similar to this
Ehhhhh kinda
autumn idk
not really :/ it’s alright korean dramas are GREAT
as an american, i truly do not understand why people are so heartless when it comes to people from other countries and assume they are not able to comply to the jobs here. everyone deserves a chance. this country was built on immigrants and people here seem to forget that. i hope that Koreans or any other people wanting to start a life in america take the opportunity because i honestly support it. love to all. happy holidays!
dont tell me to stop, i feel the way i feel.
This was sad and amazing 😭😂. You guys should have your own channel or segment 💙
watched this 3 years ago and it is really great, yb's character is still the funniest 🤣
I DONT UNDERSTAND IT BUT I UNDERSTAND THAT ITS MAKING ME SAD
jungkook is whipped they have subtitles though 😂😂😂
jungkook is whipped armyyyy
they mean the video itself
you can't read? how did you type? voice recognition?
jungkook is whipped ARMY
A lot of people complaining about why they just portrayed korean people in the immigrant struggle but I feel like maybe if it was another nationality or race it wouldn't be the same, I'm Latina and lots of my latinos immigrants friends don't face this kind of struggle its a different kind, but still harsh. So stop complaining and try to see and understand what theyre portraying.
Nicole Echevarría preach
Ok...but how the rest of us asians....chinese japanese etc etc we go through the exact same stuff as this but we dont get no love from buzzfeed
awesome video need more like this!!!!!
Hey guys... can we get a mini drama series with these 4 characters? I'm so invested now and want to know more about each of them... like a kdrama of sorts? :P
Please make this into a series, it's so interesting and has so much potential!
I NEED MORE OF THIS
Everyone saying Asians don't struggle in this country. No we're just quiet about it
Quiet as you spend the whole day playing LOL?
Make this into a series. This would really profit this channel and many people will view this series if it does become one.
PLEASE MAKE THIS INTO A SERIES, ITS SO GOOD
I totally understand it but you can get a better one in anywhere. So was I. I only wanted to live and work in New York City. Even i kicked off my job at that time. Now i am very satisfied with my life and job. Please cheer up and keep knock the new doors.
Same feeling I’m German and I live in America, until now I’ve only worked hard yet people still called me a nazi, but my visa expired, I also lost the lottery which means I have to go back, don’t know what to think.
I’m Chinese and I’ve been studying and working in us since I was 18, I can relate to this video 100%.
If this were a series, I would watch all the episodes!!!
Pls make this a series! Thank you
This is great! Please do more of this kind of content BuzzFeed.Good job to who's directing this.
awesome hope they continue this
PLEASE MAKE THE NEXT EPISODE OF THIS FXXING AMAZING SERIES!!!
Omg this was awesome I want more
They make a video about Korean immigrants & everyone gets offended. No one said America is the worst place ever, but it's very hard to get the opportunity to live here legally. Get out your bag
LMFAO THE KIMCHI IN THE BF'S HAND WHEN HE GETS KICKED OUT XDD nicely done

This was good! More please 😊
Koreans work so hard to live the best life possible. ((Not saying other races dont either, just taking a moment to acknowledge koreans cause no one really pays attention to us :,) ))
Bunny_Kult Yes. I agree. Koreans are viewed as the minority but are seen to fully sufficient on their own. Black and Hispanics get a lot of help and recognition from America (good or bad) but Koreans are just seen to work hard silently on their own. It’s as if Koreans drew the worst ends of the stick both ways.
Koreans number one league of legends players in the world
or asians in general. Not much said in the media or asian americans in movies
Harrison Lee I’m black and looking for the help and recognition you speak of. Remember, it isn’t necessary to invalidate others’ struggles to shine a light on yours. Oppression is not a competition.
hope everyone has a great christmas!
sophia elena thank you, you too!
Thank you very much! Hope you have a great chritmas too❤

I NEED THIS TO BE A FULL SERIES
THIS BETTER BE A SERIES BUZZ FEED OR ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
more episodes more, loved it
As an American who studied in Seoul and will go back full time (90% chance) I hope I don't encounter these same hardships for life in Korea. But I know it is probably unavoidable :( RIP
I'm a student now
Wish you good luck!
Why would you want to work in Korea when you could work in America? Working in Korea as a non-korean will reduce your career prospects significantly. You will be at a disadvantage when applying for any job except teaching English.
Ilikecake its her life? She can go wherever she wants to go. Whether its america korea or elsewere as long as she's happy. Life isn't only based on your job/career there are so much things more important including happiness if she's happier in korea then america then so be it
Fair point. If she's happier in Korea, then that is the place to go to. Although for career driven people like myself, moving there isn't the best choice even though I'm fluent in Korean and familiar with the culture.
They should make this into a series. I feel like they ended it with a cliff hanger!!!! I need more!!😄😃
Every buzzfeed video with clair and evan has my attention
Madachi nguyen ME TOO
Omg I want to watch this as a series Make this A TV SHOW
Nice film. This one lets me think my life in America where I'm now.
Thank you for this, it doesn't just speak about Koreans making it in America but rather it speaks for the 800,000 + undocumented immigrants that loves this country just as much as their American counterparts. 800,000 living in constant fear that they will get deported from the only Country that they know and love. Spread Love! Not Hate, and spread the festive joy of Christmas and New Years. Happy Holidays everyone!
Eddie Tan nope. If you’ve *illegally* come to America then you should be deported. 😐
Of course they fear being deported, they´re illegal immigrants, and they don´t get to feel entitled to their criminality
Can this be a series? The switching between Eng and Kor is splendid! The concept is real.
Great now I'm emotionally invested in their stories now! Great video guys

i dont understand why theres so much negative feedback on this video, its a skit showing the struggles immigrants in america face, specifically focusing on koreans. as a korean american, although i havent had to face these struggles nor have my parents had to, its hard because many koreans do love america and wanna build their lives here but face a multitude of obstacles in doing so. this video isnt showing that america is the worst country in the world, or that immigrants are complainers who want everything handed to them. its just highlighting the struggles of a language barrier, being away from family, facing discrimination in society/the workplace, etc. i think it was a great video and koreans have been underrepresented besides people hyping up kpop stars, so i fail to see the problems everyone is complaining about.
This was Beautiful BuzzFeed needs to make more content like this
Wow great insight. I wanted more!
Please make more!
This video was very well done. I look forward to more videos similar to this one!
The only original buzzfeed video out there.
Omg i’m dying to see more 😭😭
This is relatable in so many ways ahahaha. My life is falling apart literally weeks before Christmas, and now I'm just coping to be better with whoever I can find
*I actually really liked this, It was very eye opening and the way it was filmed made it feel like a kdrama*
Ok but this vídeo was so beautiful made. It is sad, but its the true not just for Korean about for all immigrant people. This is coming from someone who has family in the U.S. , left everyone back because there is where they want to be. And ita probably worth it but hard af.
beautiful! felt like a short film
this was excellent and very relevant please make more
