- It’s the battle of the ages! In the one corner, we have Steel Vengeance at Cedar Point. It’s considered by many to be the best roller coaster in the world. In the other corner is Iron Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa. This is the new kid on the block but is quickly building a fan base. Both attractions are hyper hybrid roller coasters built by Rocky Mountain Construction.

Not really height restrictions can mean younger guests being able to ride snappier and more aggressive coasters

I actually got my first rides on iron gwazi this past Saturday so I actually have a really great comparison in my mind before watching the video between steel vengeance and iron gwazi, and I heard from a lot of people who've ridden both at iron gwazi was much better, but in my humble opinion steel vengeance was the way better ride for me. And I've gotten multiple rides on both coasters. I feel like iron guazi has a few more unique and creative elements but the overall relentlessness of steel vengeance from start to finish yes yes I'm getting it was much better and more satisfying for me. But comment why you agree or disagree
I personally think iron Gwazi is the better ride. Granted, I rode Gwazi about 3 months ago and Steve about a year ago so If I make it back out to Sandusky my mind my change. As it stands right now, Steel Vengeance is my #3 and Iron Gwazi is my #1! Awesome video!
Iron Gwazi wins this for me. Not sure what about IG makes me love it so much. The speed and crazy elements do it for me. Iron Gwazi’s pacing is like no other and the steel truss look is so intimidating.
My guess by your profile name is that you like it because of your home park bias. Not to hard to figure out lol.

I prefere Steel Vengeance by a bit but I totally agree with your conclusion at the end, that summary is exactly what I think
I love them both but I think Steel Vengeance still holds its position in my rankings comfortably ahead of Iron Gwazi. I think Iron Gwazi is the more chaotic coaster and Steel Vengeance is the more fleshed out coaster and has higher quality and quantity of airtime in my opinion. Also, I personally feel that the elements on Steel Vengeance flow together better than the elements of Iron Gwazi. So if you really prioritize a coaster that feels out of control I think you'll prefer Iron Gwazi but if you like a buffet of airtime I think you'll prefer Steel Vengeance.
That said, I still personally prefer Lighting Rod to either of these two. I think it has unmatched pacing with nothing but high quality airtime throughout the layout and it cranks up there adrenaline like no other coaster.
the funny thing is i felt more intensity with vengance than gwazi no idea why
I’ve risen over 300 coasters. Iron Gwazi was my first RMC coaster. About half way through the ride I realized I never want to ride another coaster. Lol nothing can compare. I have been to cedar point since the steel vengeance conversion but idk how anything could touch gwazi. I said the same thing after Millwnium force and it took 22 years for me to find something better.
I cannot wait to get my own ride on Gwazi in November!

Igwazi is definitely better than SteVe but I think that Zadra is better than both of them. And if it comes to Zadra vs Igwazi it's all about personal preferences so if you like more intense and aggressive ride than choose Zadra and if you like more Airtime and unique elements than choose Igwazi
I'm from Germany and the only RMC I've ridden so far is Untamed. Without having ridden one of the two coasters, I think I would personally like Iron Gwazi better. I think that the coaster offers more variety. With steel vengeance one airtime moment follows the next while Iron Gwazi perfectly mixes intensity, airtime, inversions and aggressiveness. If I were to ride both coasters, my opinion could change, but now I think so purely based on my feelings.
I was just at Busch Gardens Tampa two weeks ago and rode Iron Gwazi for the first time. That's easily my new favorite ride in the park and my favorite RMC roller coaster. But I haven't ridden Steel Vengeance yet so obviously my opinion will have to wait on that for now.
Worst nickname in the world: Steve. -100 points. I cringed when I even typed it.
But seriously, they're basically tied for me. In my experience, Iron Gwazi has stronger and better quality airtime than Steel Vengeance. SV has the quantity for sure, but I think the quality of IG is stronger. I felt that it might be the strongest airtime of any coaster I've been on, other than Twisted Timbers. I would also say that the outerbank turns on SV & IG are equally great. One doesn't seem better than the other to me.
I loved the intro with Godzilla! I’ve only ridden Venegance, and it’s my number one overall beating Velocicoster, Lightning Rod, and Phantom’s Revenge.Also, do you think Steve can still be considered the objective best coaster in the world?

After riding both IG & SteVe, I like IG the best! I think you hit on it in your video, it’s the restraints for a bigger guy like myself. The Quad Down on SteVe is my least favorite part and I agree that I’m ready for the ride to be over.
I do have a disclaimer: I rode SteVe multiple times this Monday at the back and middle of the trains. I haven’t rode IG but once but at the back of the train. With all of that said, I still like IG by a hair. Both are great coasters.
Steel vengeance best ride ever
I've seen several videos comparing the two and they all tend to give IG statistical points over SV. I find it interesting that many of these statistics are bi-product of the first drop, and sure, as mentioned both are hybrid roller coasters but only one has a true hybrid first drop. The drop on SV is designed to deflect the weight of the train within the structure creating a more organic and and less measurable beyond vertical drop. Iron Gwazi's steel first drop may technically win it some of the statistical categories, but it comes across as a cheap one-upping. Vengeance doubles the prime ride time and if you want to criticizes it for having a mcbr, be mindful that it pays for itself in 3-train operations. I wonder how Steel Vengeance would be different if Iron Gwazi was opened four years before it? Note that these are simply observations and I have yet to ride Iron Gwazi. I can only hope I'm wrong and that IG will blow me away, but based on what I like in coasters SV looks to remain on top for me.
Also, Iron Gwazi uses the same second generation RMC trains as Steel Vengeance.
1. For me, I actually wanna try and ride Gwazi first
2. The death roll is the number one inversion I wanna experience. It looks so crazy
I do prefer Gwazi because it is more intense and that makes it my favorite coaster ever
This is a prediction, but I'm predicting that for me Steel Vengeance versus Iron Gwazi will end with me picking Steel Vengeance. I generally like much longer rides and when one ride has stats that beat the other by a nudge without that extra ride time, it usually doesn't win.

Well, when you're tall enough to ride Iron Gwazi but not SV, I'd say that's a pretty big deal especially when they're the same type of coaster
If you're a child it matters. And if you're a parent it also matters. Being able to ride a coaster is kind of important.

What about "anywhere on the train" ride? STEVE kills it! Riding front of train on Gwazi is so incredibly different than the back. On Gwazi, you MUST ride the back for the intensity to hit. On Steve, any seat hits you with the intensity. Front seat ride on Gwazi isn't even worth it. Gwazi wins in track color for me though.
Tbh height restrictions shouldn’t be a category since that is safety based and a ride shouldn’t be expected to let young kids on if it’s not safe for them

Let’s think about this for a sec two of the stats mentioned are steepest and tallest of which both those stats do pretty much nothing then u also have fastest? What? By one mile per hour? You don’t feel any of those stats when ur actually on the ride so I don’t know why stats would really be a topic considering stats these days for rollercoasters just do not matter as long as the layout is used effectively.

If stats were a single one point, I'd have called BS on Gwazi's records, because yes you are going to be able to feel SV's extra 1600+ feet. Or just add in a height requirement category ;)

I'd agree it wouldn't make sense if you were talking about 2 different manufacturers...but he is comparing the exact same model from the same manufacturer....not to mention he has a daughter that is only tall enough to ride one of them so it makes sense for his video. I actually found the death roll on Iron Gwazi to be kinda boring and I prefer the second inversion on SV by a longshot

Think you're saying IG destroys Steel Vengeance is very exaggerated. Finally had the opportunity to ride IG this year. Yes, its a fast pace Rollercoaster experience, but by only 2mph faster. I can travel from 65-67mph in my car, and it's not much at all. Just how people act like F-325 goes 20mph faster than Millennium Force. When the ride experience is over on IG, I felt like ok, Steel Vengeance is still kicking ass, and the Train hasn't reached the mid course block brake yet. And I've had plenty of rides on Steel Vengeance where the block brake didn't slow the pacing of the Trains. Sorry, but Steel Vengeance is still The Far Superior Rollercoaster. And ride ops on Steel Vengeance. Ride ops on IG doesn't even come close.

Iron Gwazi is in my top 3 and Steel Vengeance isnt even in my top 10. Hell, most of my rides on Steel Vengeance were only cuz it was a walk on and Maverick's line was too long. lol. Even then, Iron Gwazi isnt even my favorite RMC...that'd be Wicked Cyclone.
In terms of SteVe vs Iron Gwazi, Iron Gwazi just has a better "flow" than SteVe. I just had way more fun on IG.
Something I noticed about Steel Vengeance in terms of operations is that maybe cuz its been open for 4 years, fat people know not to even get in line on it cuz I didnt see any overweight people in line and they didnt have to fight with a restraints locking on someone too largefor the ride. Thats not the case with Iron Gwazi, last time I was there they were kicking off at least 1 fat person every train and it was killing dispatch times.
