The answer is neither. Daddy Pig's Roller Coaster has the lift hill of Iron Gwazi and the launch of Velocicoaster. It's so extreme, guests can't ride in the front row. Only Daddy Pig can.

I also think she hit the nail on the head when she said she would rather wait in line for Velocicoaster. Because with all of the theming in VC queue line, you wouldn’t mind waiting a long time unlike Iron Gwazi with a pretty normal, boring queue.

Yuh I agree. I live in Sarasota, FL like an hour south of Busch Gardens Tampa and like 2.5 hours south of Universal Orlando, so I visit Busch Gardens a lot and I have to say, Iron Gwazi is a rlly intense coaster ngl. Velocicoaster's queue and shows are freaking awesome tho. Same with Velocicoaster's scenery n shi. Idk this is a tough one to decide. But yeah Iron Gwazi is a more intense coaster whereas Velocicoaster is a better experience ig lol.

    VelociCoaster > Iron Gwazi
I think Iron Gwazi has a better drop, a better roll, and better airtime, but the total package of VelociCoaster is just completely unparalleled in my opinion. A lot of people point to VelociCoaster's theme and story as the reason for this, but I'd also highlight the ride's length and the almost cinematic experience it provides riders. In fact, Veloci is so conceptually brilliant that you can almost map the coaster out onto a traditional 3 act story structure. I don't believe a perfect coaster exists, but if it does, it's VelociCoaster.

I disagree about the roll. The mosasaurus roll is soooo much better than the deathroll imo. The way it ejects you is soooo awesome. I think even when you completely ignore the themeing, both coasters are very close in terms of thrills. Gwazi has the drop, the ejector airtime and the amazing wave turn. VC has the better stall and better roll, and a good mix of both positive and negative forces.

A lot of good points made. I think if both were relocated to a parking lot, with no theming, no queue, Iron Gwazi wins hands down. If you are trying to find the best overall attraction, counting theming, the queue, interactions over the path and the line, the look of the ride from across the park etc, Velocicoaster wins hands down. They are easily the best two coasters in the state, and make a very strong case for best in the country.

I rode Velocicoaster 30+ times last year. Finally made it to Busch Gardens a couple weeks ago for Iron Gwazi.
Iron Gwazi was excellent, excellently paced, the drops were brutal, the track is smooth, the cars are comfortable. I could go on all day about what an excellent coaster it is. I loved it.
But I gotta give the W to Velocicoaster. The theming is a game changer. The front section ties you in knots while peppering you with near misses on the rock work. The second launch feels like it's gonna send you to orbit. But the biggest reason I prefer it is the Mosasaurs Roll. That is the single most terrifying element of any coaster I've ever ridden. It literally feels like it is trying to fling you in the lake. It always evokes a different scream from the riders. Even having ridden it as many times as I have, I still clamp myself to my seat with my knees.

As a platinum card holder for SeaWorld and Busch Gardens I was able to ride Iron Gwazi yesterday. My first ride at 10:30 am in the front then back, for some reason did not have me over excited. Idk why. I've heard that roller coasters get better throughout the day so I went on it again at 4:00 p.m. Front and back again, and man, what a huge difference. It felt faster, more intense and I felt more air times with stronger forces. It was like it had awaken. Absolutely loved it. I even caught a ladies hat as I was in the last row and I ride with my hands up. Lol
Over all, as much as I want to give it to Iron Gwazi, I just can't stand the seatbelts and the slow process of getting on. I mean the Velocicoaster restraint mechanism is impeccable smooth and fast and I like the fact that your feet hang, and I'm not short. I'm 6'2 and my feet was hanging. Makes it and feels like you have better air time. I do not like the shin guards on Iron Gwazi either. The seats are just more comfortable on Velocicoaster. Also Busch Gardens and SeaWorld need to get up to date with the single riders line. It not only ensures that every cart is full, and it moves the line the fastest, it also saves on wear and tear, for the carts and track. I mean how many extra carts do they have to run a day that didn't need to be ran because of empty seats from carts before? JS
Anyways, to be completely honest if they could find a faster way to buckle in the guest without shin guards it would be Iron Gwazi all day but for now Velocicoaster is where it's at. Oh btw I by far the death roll on Iron Gwazi is better than any inversion on either coaster. Plus Iron Gwazi left me wondering what the hell just happened even after 4 rides.

I think we are comparing apples and oranges here. To begin with, an RMC hybrid and an Intamin launch are two extremely different ride experiences (like Sarah’s point about the track feeling different). Additionally, Velocicoaster is a story driven ride: the ride on its own would still be phenomenal but obviously the theming elements and story surrounding it really help push it over the edge.
In terms of Iron Gwazi, it doesn’t have the story, it doesn’t have the theming, and it doesn’t have the immersion. It was built as a thrill machine, which is very much succeeds in doing. It is definitely a more intense and thrilling pure coaster experience than Velocicoaster. However, Velocicoaster was not solely designed to be based on thrills, it was built to tell an amazing story with great themes and thrills combined.
Overall, although I love Velocicoaster and it will always be my clear favorite, I just don’t think you can compare these rides fairly against each other.

As an impartial outsider, it seems a bit unfair to me to allow theming as a factor when you're comparing a fully-themed franchised ride in a huge park like Universal with a stand-alone coaster at a combo park. It's like comparing a brand new Ferrari with a fully-refurbished '69 Mustang... of course the Ferrari is going to look immaculate, run faster, handle better - but that doesn't necessarily mean you enjoy the actual driving experience more!
I like another commenter's idea to picture both in a car park with zero theming & just compare the coaster itself... and it sounds like Gwazi would win that debate! 🤔

IG was a little more intense I think, but Velocicoaster had more inversions and the overall experience with the theming and views enhances the experience. I’ll go back to both every year I think.

I missed y'all by a day! I was at IOA on Monday and BGT on Tuesday! I agree with Sarah 100%. Iron Gwazi is my fav of the two but the Mosasaurus is my favorite inversion on either ride. Iron Gwazi's pacing and airtime are so insane. That outerbanked wave turn has some of the best airtime I've ever experienced. How many rides are there where the zero-g stall is the one moment where you can catch your breath?!! There's no doubt that both coasters are absolute masterpieces and they sit happily at #1 and #2 in my rankings.

It's very similar to Maverick and Steel Vengeance. Maverick has theming, better back drop, dueling, tunnel launch, goes over water, and a variety of elements. Then Vengeance has just the most insane airtime over and over all the way til the end. Personally I like Maverick more than Vengeance so Im sure I am a Velocicoaster guy, havent rode it yet.

I think they summed it up really well....it comes down to personal preference. As a stand alone roller coaster it is definitely Iron Gwazi. As a complete package, it's definitely Velocicoaster. It is so, so, so, so close! I have ridden both many, many times and for me I love them both but I will give it to Velocicoaster but Iron Gwazi stands as one of the greatest RMC's ever built!

I haven't been on Iron Gwazi yet, but I can tell you just by watching POVs and reactions, it will be the better coaster. I'm not one that requires theming on a ride and a fancy queue doesn't do it for me. Velocicoaster is a great ride, hands down, but first half is really just okay and you literally go around a circle twice in the second half after the stall. I'm not as big a fan with Velocicoaster as IOA upsets me more times than not. I even have night rides on backrow of Mako rivaling Velocicoaster, but I love floater airtime and the restraints on B&M hypers. Those make a ride a better ride to me personally. But Iron Gwazi looks mental and will be easily best coaster in FL.

tbh if you havent been on gwazi yet, then don't drop your opinion on which is better. Go ride it first. As someone who has ridden both at least 20 times in gwazi and well over a hundred on velocicoaster, I still put velocicoaster as the better one. The ride is just the best experience. At that point you have to ask, what makes a ride? The thrill, or the experience? I'd say experience but others might beg to differ lol

You point blank dont know what youre talking about. Im a platinum passholder at BG Tampa and have been for almost a decade. Montu has literally NEVER, and I repeat NEVER pulled more than a 30 min wait unless they were running one train. Which is basically NEVER. Theyre almost ALWAYS running 2 trains and run 3 on peak attendance days. Montu and Kumba have been walk on reruns for YEARS.

    • @casuallystalled

I was at BG on St. Patrick's day, and Montu and Kumba were basically walk ons even at peak hours. Iron Gwazi, SheiKra, and Cheetah Hunt had ~70 min wait times at peak hours. This is only info from on day, so i'm sure Chris Bruchak would know more

Got 12 rides on Velcoicoaster in November. I will be riding Iron Gwazi this weekend. Based on the fact that I have ridden all of the RMC in the US other than Jersey Devil, and where I rank them, I expect Iron Gwazi to be a Top 3 overall coaster (With Steel Vengeance & Lightning Rod). Currently- El Toro sits right behind those 2, with Velocicoaster coming in behind El Toro. So my expectation is both will be Top 5 coasters for me. Looking forward to it this weekend.

Everyone’s thoughts sound about right, I still gotta wait another week before riding Iron Gwazi but I can’t tell which one I’m gonna prefer. I totally get the overall experience theming and story on Velocicoaster being favored by many but I can also see Iron Gwazi being better for the layout, but Velocicoaster itself has a pretty incredible layout too. I think I’ll agree with the person in the video that said they at least prefer waiting in line for Velocicoaster, I actually really like when the wait is an hour so I can enjoy the outside queue watching the trains fly through the second half of the ride. I definitely will never shut up about how when it comes to Velocicoaster, not a single ride in the world matches it’s theming, intensity, smoothness, and reliability. Iron Gwazi which I haven’t ridden yet though, I can tell I’m gonna love and will have a hard time ranking it, but it will definitely be in my Top 5.
Another question tho: how does Iron Gwazi compare to SteVe? 🤔 I’ve heard many prefer SteVe for it’s length but others have said what Iron Gwazi does with the entire length it has is overall better. Roller coasters are so cool yo

Why does there have to be a battle? Both coasters are great and I wish they were in the mid-Atlantic region so I can get to them faster😉 however Velocicoaster has the better overall theming. You’d think Iron Gwazi would have some impeccable theming as well..especially after a two year hold up.

Keep making videos like this. Love the comparison thoughts. I've ridden Gwazi and Velocicoaster and in fairly short intervals. I agree with a lot of what you said on this video. If I could be assured of a 5 minute or less wait time, no question my choice would be Gwazi. It's a more intense, more thrilling ride. It's a better coaster. But given that both rides typically take 45 min or more to get on, then it's Velocicoaster all day long. There is so much more to see and take in with that ride and at night, I don't think there is a better ride. it's 95% as good a coaster as Gwazi, but it offers so much more to the overall experience and there is nothing like that second launch or the Mosasaurus roll on Gwazi.

I think a reasonable comparison (to stick with Florida) would be comparing Falcon's Fury vs Tower of Terror.
Falcon's Fury has the height, spend and just overall intimidation factor. And as a trick up it's sleave it has the tilted seats. These things combined put it on the short list for best traditional drop Tower.
Tower of Terror excels in the thrills department because it has a random drop sequence, a forced fall that pushes you down faster than gravity and only a seat belt so you feel extremely exposed. And it's trick is the fact that it is basically a top notch dark ride with exceptional theming that just cranks up the experience ten notches.
Which is better? I guess it really depends on what you are going for but they both excel as thrill rides even putting the theming and presentation aside.

  • @astral9752
    @astral9752 2 года назад +2

I honestly think overall Velcicoaster takes it due to its re-rideability, balanced thrill, and theming. Now that being said I haven't been on Iron Gwazi, but, I can tell that this ride is freaking INSANE and the amount of airtime, force and speed you feel is insanity. But at the same time Veloci has thrill as well, not as much as Iron Gwazi but pretty high level. One thing i'd like to mention is that I think the 1st half of Veloci is so underrated. You can some good airtime moments and close calls within the raptor paddock. Not only that but it gives you a feeling that you are being chased and that you are contained in this small environment fleeing from raptors. So overall Veloci for me.
