I love these types of videos. So relaxing and fun to knit along with you. A little tip I learned while blocking, I put a large colander in the sink then put my garment in the colander, fill sink with water. Garments are so heavy when wet and stretch when lifting out of the water no matter how careful you are. Just drain the sink and gently press out the water. Lift the colander with the sweater out and no stretching. It's so much easier. Love how your cardigan came out. It's now on my wish list. P.S. I live in the next town over from Stowe!
I really loved this video. Very few podcasts take you through the process of making a garment. I’m new to making sweaters so this really helped me visualize what I’m supposed to do. Beautiful work ❤
Your sweater is gorgeous. I like how you talked about the process of choosing a pattern I can spend so much time looking at patterns, and it can be hard to choose. Blocking made your sweater so much better.
This felt just like hearing a friend sharing her knitting process - so approachable and engaging with lots of helpful tips. It really helps to hear you thinking through things aloud. Looking forward to the next one! And I love the tweedy Noro yarn! ❤️
This is an amazing video, and I enjoyed every stitch of it! Your cardigan is absolutely beautiful and you've inspired me to start my first cardigan project! I live in Texas though, so will only get a few days wear (yes, during winter) out of it. Thank you for sharing your process, it really was so much fun to watch! Hugs from Texas!
Loved seeing the journey! Such a beautiful cardi! I made a blanket using Noro yarn, I enjoyed working with it too. Love your Coastie shirt! My husband is a retired coastie! We actually spent two tours in Maine! ❤️ Thank you for taking us on your journey.
I loved the smile on your face when you were showing that beautiful finished blocked cardigan!!!!!! All your hard work payed off and was so worth it!!!!! I can picture you feeling so excited wearing it to work and out and about!!!!! YOU DID AN OUTSTANDING KNITTING JOB ON YOUR CARDIGAN AND IT TURNED OUT SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!IT LOOKS STORE BOUGHT!!!!! DONNA
Lovely cardigan, I was so pleased to see you had used yarn from Twisted Purl Yarn Studio, here in beautiful British Columbia! It is my nearest yarn store! Enjoyed your clog and will make sure to watch more. Thank you.
I loved your process and your honesty and that yarn turned out ah-mazing. I only live about 1.5 hours from Armstrong and Twisted Purl is a lovely gem of a yarn shop. I think I need a road trip to check out this yarn. Thank you!
Love the sweater! It makes me want to knit it! Loved your vlog was very informative. You made the right decision to wet block it. It took it up to another level in beauty!!!
Great vlog! I agree with another commentator that watching the progress of knitting a sweater was very informative and interesting. Thank you for sharing your journey to making a new sweater.
Love your sweater and yarn choice! I may have to give Noro yarn a try. I found your podcast style very interesting to watch and helpful ,as I'm realtively new to garment knitting. Thanks for sharing it.
🌴☀️Thanks for sharing this journey with your project I LOVE THESE TYPES OF VIDEOS. I’m making one now but will be adding pockets to show off my sock yarn woowhooo. The finish is beautiful…what a nice cropped cardi ☀️🌴
I really enjoyed watching your progress and what a beautiful FO. Love the Noro yarn I have got to try it and this discount is might tempting. Many Thx. 👏🙏🏼💕🇨🇦
Your blog was so good 😊 Kept us in the loop about your knitting progress and challenges but I have to say it looks gorgeous on you What a beautiful piece!!! Have a great weekend coming soon !!!😊💝🇨🇦🇨🇦
Fantastic job!! I have one dkeeve to do, got bored so i have oucked up all rhe stitches for the button band placket and think i will fo this next. Scared and excited as i have never done it before!!! Xx
I just commented and realize that I saw your first video and loved it subscribed however I somehow forgot. So so glad I found you ~ you are my favorite knitting podcast. Great work
Love your project and I’m pleased to find someone else that despite describing Noro as quirky, still wants to knit all the things with it. I love the colour shifts of kureyon and the older noro yarns like blossom, and once I’ve removed the twigs out of the sheep (you can tell the wool is wool), the fabric when blocked is so soft and warm. Thanks for the inspo of this pattern.
I found Noro to be one of the most unique and special yarns I have worked with thus far. I'll have to give the other yarns you mention a try! Thanks for watching :)
perfect timing! this weekend I have plans to look for this Noro at my LYS and was planning to find your last podcast...and then...there you are posting this exact project! Thank you so much, i love all your details and sharing. Thank you, Saturday I am off to buy my own project! Happy knitting! well done, hoping mine comes anywhere close to how beautiful yours is! I hope there is a video on button holes!
Yay! Perfect timing indeed! What yarn/color you thinking? I didn’t see any videos for button holes, but once you get the hang of the double knit band you can easily figure out the button holes. Let me know if you get stuck!
Thank you for posting this video, you’ve inspired me and I’ve just purchased this pattern from Ravelry. I look forward to your future videos. Greetings from UK.
This podcast was brilliant, just loved watching you going through the different step. Yarn is gorgeous and off to find the champagne cardigan pattern lol ❤
I used to feel the same way until I watched Handmade by Florence's recent video of her Step by Step cardigan tutorial. She also uses this Noro yarn 😀She makes it very easy to understand how to do the double knit button band.
I hear you! I would recommend watching some videos before you tackle it and make sure you carve out a good chunk of time to get it done. It's very rewarding however, makes for a beautiful and durable button band!
Yay!! I loved this vlog! It was really cool seeing the journey of creating this cardigan and your vlogging style is so engaging! Definitely make more of these types of videos😁
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the whole process. The cardigan turned out perfect for you. Great job! I love Nora yarns too but I may not be ambitious enough for a cardigan. 😉
Really enjoyed the video. I saw you wearing a Stowe sweatshirt- I live in Stowe 😊 Thanks for taking us along for the cardigan journey! I want to try that yarn!
I finished this cardigan in February. It's a great pattern and I love the knitted on button band although it took FOREVER. I used a combination of Berroco Vintage along with a strand of Knit Picks Aura mohair/silk mix. I love this sweater. It fits perfectly and is very warm.
Wow! Beautiful! I’m taking a knitting lesson this weekend, I have self taught myself in the past but never finished any project 😢My goal is a cardigan, you have helped inspire me❤
I am knitting the Stephen West Dustland Cardigan, it’s designed much the same as yours but with a plain and purl pattern. So loving it as sides and back are knitted same time. On rib, 😊now and just have to do small bit of sleeves as it’s a drop shoulder design
Loved how the cardigan came out. Blocking really does make a huge difference! I'm always torn between knitting with one skein at a time, or alternating.
Is it easier to knit from top down or easier from bottom up? That is beautiful yarn. You younger girls are amazing & I am so glad to see you all love the material arts.

I recently made this cardigan and it's a wonderful pattern - the button band adds a refined touch to the cardigan. I want to make another one and love the color/yarn you chose for yours. The yarn looks gorgeous and I like that the specks of color means it works with just about everything. Not sure if you mentioned it, but what pattern/yarn is the pink sweater you had on in the beginning. I just finished the Agnete cardigan and looking for a simple knit before I knit another cardigan.
I'm planning to knit another one myself! The pink sweater I'm wearing is store-bought, actually, but there are some similar patterns out there that I have saved in my Ravelry bundle: www.ravelry.com/bundles/pullover-sweaters-1005
Beautiful sweater and I so enjoyed this video as I was attempting to knit my first cardigan, without a pattern! Yikes! What was I thinking? So glad I found you and this video. I am going to start over after I download the pattern. Could you do an instructional video on the tubular ribbing? BTW, I live in Maine also! I have subscribed and watch as many of your vids as time permits. Thanks so much!🌷
Hello fellow Mainer! Where are you watching from exactly? I don't plan on making many instructional videos but I can try to find a good tutorial to reference.
I have been looking for a tweed yarn like that for years. And the sweater is absolutely darling and perfect. I had trouble finding anyone that had six skeins left of that color 01 but I found it and ordered the yarn and have download the pattern from Ravelry. I love it so much I’m gonna make myself one exactly like yours! Thank you so much for all of this. I was wondering if you had an idea of how many hours you think it took you to complete this. I’m going to keep track. Thanks again!
I'm so glad you were inspired to make your own cardigan! I think you will love working with this yarn. I knit and recorded over the course of 6 weeks, but only took around 3-4 weeks of routine knitting to finish. Hard to gauge exactly how many hours though. Keep me posted on how long it takes you!
I make to knit the first stitch on the second needle and pull very tightly. I also rotate where the needle break is in the cuff every few rows. This combo seems to do the trick for me!
I have Noro Enka. 50% cotton, 20% silk and 15% wool and 15% polymide. I’m a new knitter and would like to ask a question about Noro yarn. Do you think the Noro I have is to heavy a yarn for a cardigan?
I love these types of videos. So relaxing and fun to knit along with you. A little tip I learned while blocking, I put a large colander in the sink then put my garment in the colander, fill sink with water. That is a brilliant idea!!! I never thought about that. Thanks for sharing!!
What a fantastic idea. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the great tip. I’ll be buying myself a large colander asap 🐨🇦🇺
Very fine sample..
I will make them soon
I really loved this video. Very few podcasts take you through the process of making a garment. I’m new to making sweaters so this really helped me visualize what I’m supposed to do. Beautiful work ❤
Thank you! I struggled a bit with how much to show vs. talk about. Glad you found it helpful!
Your sweater is gorgeous.
I like how you talked about the process of choosing a pattern I can spend so much time looking at patterns, and it can be hard to choose.
Blocking made your sweater so much better.
Very beautiful sweater. Great job! Thank you for highlighting a 🇨🇦 Yarn Shop. That's so awesome!
This felt just like hearing a friend sharing her knitting process - so approachable and engaging with lots of helpful tips. It really helps to hear you thinking through things aloud. Looking forward to the next one! And I love the tweedy Noro yarn! ❤️
That means a lot, thank you Michelle!
Very beautiful cardigan, congratulations!
Thank you! 😊
Wow what a difference when blocked it looks fabulous well done 👏
This was such a journey thank you for filming the process and the results, the colour really make this cardigan a treasure!
Glad you enjoyed it! ☺️
Beautiful pattern 😊thank you 😊
This is an amazing video, and I enjoyed every stitch of it! Your cardigan is absolutely beautiful and you've inspired me to start my first cardigan project! I live in Texas though, so will only get a few days wear (yes, during winter) out of it. Thank you for sharing your process, it really was so much fun to watch! Hugs from Texas!
Thanks for watching! Maybe use a DK-weight yarn for a lighter knit that you could get more wear out of?
This was awesome, and yes the blocking really made everything just so neat!! Loved how you explained everything! Thank you!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved seeing the journey! Such a beautiful cardi! I made a blanket using Noro yarn, I enjoyed working with it too. Love your Coastie shirt! My husband is a retired coastie! We actually spent two tours in Maine! ❤️ Thank you for taking us on your journey.
Hi! I got that shirt for $4 right before the exchange in Portland closed :( Should have bought a few more! Thanks for watching!
Can’t believe the difference after blocking! I am knitting mine with the same yarn ❤️
It makes such a big difference!!

I highly recommend this pattern! It's a great piece and can be knit in a wide variety of fibers/colors...

Good luck! I'm sure it's going to be beautiful!

Thank you! I bet you could knit a cardigan!! There are lots of tutorials and resources out there to help guide the process. I encourage you to try it!
Just lovely !
Woah, what is this beautiful pink sweater though
Not handmade, unfortunately 😕 but I do like the color!
It is so beautiful!!
Thank you so much!
Really enjoyed the video. I saw you wearing a Stowe sweatshirt- I live in Stowe 😊 Thanks for taking us along for the cardigan journey! I want to try that yarn!
So jealous you live in Stowe! We try to do an annual trip there. It’s beautiful and so much fun!! Stowe cider is my favorite 🤩
@@svenjaknits Let me know next time to come to town. Happy to offer suggestions of restaurants, etc. Maybe we can meet up for some knitting!

@@vanessalumbra9409 Small world! Where do you go for a local yarn shop? I’m sad Stowe no longer has one 😕
Stunning 😊
G’day, came across your podcast, really really enjoyed it. You’re cardigan is so lovely. Have subscribed will go back look at prev episodes. 🍀🇦🇺
Thank you so much!! ❤️

Agreed - the button band takes FOREVER, but it's SO worth it! I am considering making another cardigan soon...
I also love Noro yarns. The self-striping versions seem to make the projects go more quickly,
This was such a fun video to watch. You put so much work in it showing it to us from A to Z, great job!! New subscriber here!
Glad you enjoyed watching it! Welcome :)
Beautiful!
Wow! Beautiful! I’m taking a knitting lesson this weekend, I have self taught myself in the past but never finished any project 😢My goal is a cardigan, you have helped inspire me❤
You can do it!
I am knitting the Stephen West Dustland Cardigan, it’s designed much the same as yours but with a plain and purl pattern. So loving it as sides and back are knitted same time. On rib, 😊now and just have to do small bit of sleeves as it’s a drop shoulder design
Ooh that sounds like a nice pattern!
Can you share information about your blocking boards and pins?
Hi Vivian - you can find links to all my tools, including my blocking mats, in the description part of the episode!
Well done!
Excellent! Thank you
KNitting the Terrazzo and loving the Norto
Ooh, are you using silk garden sock?
Beautiful yarn!
So beautiful, I am jealous! Ha, Ha!
Loved how the cardigan came out. Blocking really does make a huge difference! I'm always torn between knitting with one skein at a time, or alternating.
Blocking really did transformed this knit!
Fabulous 😊
Is it easier to knit from top down or easier from bottom up? That is beautiful yarn. You younger girls are amazing & I am so glad to see you all love the material arts.
I prefer top down so I can try it on along the way!
Great job!
Thanks!
Loved this vlog and will definitely watch more. Love your garment and the yarn. I myself would have added a steek to avoid all the purling 😅.
Ahh yes, good point!
Loved the vid but can you tell me how ease was I have the noro but I'm not sure which size to knit for the rinished size I want it will help me loads to know how much the noro bloomed so I can find out which size I had provisionally thought of this pattern as the noro is beautiful it makes the Cardigan look nice no need for fancy stich just a glorious shape
My cardigan has a good 10+ inches of positive ease.

👍🏽 good job
Great job God bless you
Have you discovered a good way to not have laddering on your cuffs?
I make to knit the first stitch on the second needle and pull very tightly. I also rotate where the needle break is in the cuff every few rows. This combo seems to do the trick for me!
Did you steam block using a clothing steamer?
Just a basic clothing steamer.
I have Noro Enka. 50% cotton, 20% silk and 15% wool and 15% polymide.
I’m a new knitter and would like to ask a question about Noro yarn.
Do you think the Noro I have is to heavy a yarn for a cardigan?
It all depends on how heavy/warm you want your cardigan to be! I love my Noro cardigan and would make another one!
