New subscriber here, I started watching your summer sock series last night and am really enjoying your channel. I appreciate your calm manner and the way you approach your projects. I am getting back into sock knitting this month and enjoying it very much. Your intro to this video was beautifully done! I am also a quilter and enjoyed seeing your project bags as well as your beautiful socks.
Thank you!!! I’ve been on vacation, and slowly catching up on my RUclips videos. I happened to watch this yesterday while knitting the heel flap on my 4th pair of #SummerSockCamp2023 socks. I tried the extra-stitch tip, and the ktbl tip when picking up stitches, and they worked great! 🧶🧶🧶
Hi! You’re making me want to knit all the socks! I’m really inspired to knit the Wildflowers & Honeycomb ones now. I had an idea for your Pom on the shorty socks. You could simply leave the center tie (from making the pom) long, thread it through the back of your sock, and tie it into a bow. It would stay on well enough while you’re wearing them, but would still be completely removable. I do this with poms for my hats so I can remove them for washing. Thanks for introducing me to Marianthi Yarns. You’re right, those speckles are stunning!
loved this sock focused knitting vlog, svenja! ☺️🧦 we seem to have a similar book taste too! for the first yarn you acquired, I think the hermione everyday socks would look amazing! I made them in a similar handdyed yarn 🩷 I adore your cute handmade project bags too ✨ I love my wooden sock blockers btw and never had a problem with them - first of all I really squeeze out a lot of the water before putting them on them and either let them dry in the sun in the summer or on the radiator in the winter which makes them fry so fast! :)
Wow so many beautiful colours and so many cute socks, congratulations ! I'm very jelous that you have rain, in Eastern Europe it's a heat wave and a drowt
I make project bags, too, it is a lot of fun. I put a pocket inside and add a handle. Your bags look great!! I love your socks! I have started the Stephen West Surprise Sock Along. They are pretty cool!! I am in northern Illinois, and we could use some of your rain! Enjoy your summer!!
Hi Svenja I love your socks And I love your wildflower socks are beautiful ,, I actually love the wool with a bit of colour going through I saved that pattern when you went through different socks you were going to make You do a beautiful job!!! 😊💝🇨🇦🇨🇦
Svenja, I just love your videos and want you to know you are such an inspiration! I, too, have made the Wildflowers & honeycomb socks since your last video and used blueberry speckled yarn. I may have to roll up my jeans to show them off! I also made the Summer Picnic Socks and wanted to share that I had trouble with the graph. The instructions actually seem to start the checkerboard pattern on stitch 27 rather than stitch 1. I found I needed to start at stitch 27, work across to the left, do the instep or top of the foot and then start at stitch 1 to the center. Maybe I'm wrong, but I could not find another way to accomplish the pattern. The socks came out fine and I love them regardless and would make another pair. I feel your pain with the rain we've had and also live in Maine. But, it makes for great knitting! We all await your next projects.
Your socks are beautiful, such great knitting! Would you tell me what size and brand your containers are that you store your yarn in? I am looking for some and yours look like the perfect size. You sock knitting summer is going great! ❣️🧶
Thank you for this interesting podcast. I’m off to sew another project bag inspired by your beautiful work! My summer of socks is going well: finishing another pair today. And thank you for the tip on avoiding creating a hole in the sock when picking up the stitches. Have a good day! Elise
I didn't use a specific pattern but did watch lots of RUclips tutorials on making bags. I will try to find the one where I learned how to insert the drawstring!
Thanks for sharing your sock journey. I’l like to get back into sock knitting after taking a ten year break. I’m going to order some of the yarn that you mentioned as they look fun to knit with. What do you use for the ties on your knitting bag? I love your bags, they turned out quite well.
Hi Svenja, I was watching your Holiday 2022 Gift Knitting and I wonder if you could send me the knitting adaptions for the hat that you made for your mother-in-law?
Would you consider sharing measurements ..quick instructions for your project bags. I am no I’ve sewist and would enjoy making a bag for my knitting. Thank you Svenja.
Question for all my more experienced knitters: can you make a sweater with sock yarn? I was peer pressured into buying 4 skeins of a yarn that is gorgeous but I later realized it was sock yarn. I’d love to make a sweater with it but I’m not sure how it would go. Should I hold it with some mohair or alpaca to make it softer? I would LOVE your recommendations.
You can definitely make a sweater with sock yarn! Just keep in my sock yarn is usually superwash which can grow several sizes when washed/blocked so I would definitely swatch and block before committing to anything. Pairing a single strand of sock yarn with mohair is a great option too! I have made several sweaters with this combo (personal favorite is the No Frills sweater by Petite Knit), which calls for this yarn pairing.
I also wash my socks in the machine and lay flat to dry. I usually wear them once then let them air overnight and wear again then wash 😊
Great tips for sock knitting. Roxanne Richardson has great sick videos as well.
Lessons on Chemistry is one of the best books I read last year!!
It's on my list - I've heard great things!
Enjoyed this episode very much. Thanks for sharing 💕love all the socks and bags💕💕

Love everything you’re making! I didn’t catch the name of the “confetti” color way by Marianthi? My daughter would love this yarn! 💖
It is called ‘Flowers’ 😊

They are from Walmart, however I can’t recall the brand. I should have them linked in favorites that you can find in the description of my videos.

You can do it!
Hi Svenja! I'm an avid sock knitter most of the time. I'd love to knit the Frill Socks by Autumn Poppy Designs.
That’s such a cute pattern! I’ll have to add it to my list!
Hi Svenja! You’re an inspiration! Now I want to do a project bag too!! Thanks for this and all your episodes!
They are so fun!
Your gusset decreases look amazing, have you done a double decrease or something? Would love to know! Thanks for the podcast
I decrease on one side of the sock which ends up being two decreases in a row. Maybe that’s what you are referring to?
Love your project bag, can you please share the pattern you use? like how to get the bottom and the strings done?
thank you
I didn't use a specific pattern but did watch lots of RUclips tutorials on making bags. I will try to find the one where I learned how to insert the drawstring!
Well done with your project bags!! I love them. I still want to learn how to make one. Do you use a specific pattern?
I do not, I just made up some dimensions! They are pretty easy if you have basic sewing skills!
Thanks for sharing your sock journey. I’l like to get back into sock knitting after taking a ten year break. I’m going to order some of the yarn that you mentioned as they look fun to knit with. What do you use for the ties on your knitting bag? I love your bags, they turned out quite well.
Thank you! The ties are a cotton drawstring material.
Hi Svenja, I was watching your Holiday 2022 Gift Knitting and I wonder if you could send me the knitting adaptions for the hat that you made for your mother-in-law?
Hi! Yes I can! I should update this project on Ravelry with my mods. I promise I’ll get to it!
Would you consider sharing measurements ..quick instructions for your project bags. I am no I’ve sewist and would enjoy making a bag for my knitting. Thank you Svenja.
The measurements are roughly 10x11” finished for my project bags. They are relatively straightforward to make!
