    Nice to see how the fry are getting on. They’ve grown already.
    The new camera you have for under the water is very cool!
    They sure swim fast don’t they.
    You are a busy guy with all the koi you keep.
    I bet the koi pond you are taking care of in your neighborhood was quite nice when it was new.

    I had a koi fry that swam into the side wall so hard I thought it had broke its back because it spine bent and it swam funny but over night magically its spine straightened and over the following days its swimming improved back to normal, except it seems to have lost movement of its dorsal fin, its permanently down like when they are sick but I think its lost movement as a result of the injury, been that way for a couple of months now.
    Never give up on your fish, alot of people will put them to sleep but at fry stage they are able to recover alot better.

    Great update on the fry always interesting to hear how other people do things. I had a problem with some of mine this year with deformed gills couldn’t get myself to kill them so I’ve just left them to develop and if they survive that’s fine

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  2 года назад +1

      Yeah you get a few like that I think i noticed one when watching the underwater video They don't seam to live longer than a year Ive had a few in the past but they have never survived long enough to be big fish no idea why but Id rather leave them if they are happy 🙂

    Always good to see a fry update vid?. Did you ever consider routing you heated water from another pond ie air source heater vs cloverleaf 1 or 2 kw inline heater to cut costs?

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  2 года назад

      Yeah I want to make a central heating system to heat all the ponds but costs. Id love to put a ashp on it but it's not easy to plumb in this system and i really want to make some changed to the tank before committing to a heating system for it.

    Hi Adam, great video again. Want to ask you about another video from you connected to 4 inch Spindrifter Bottom drain - will the 'pull' on each drain be about a 6 ft diameter - going to have 30,000 litre pump on each. Pond is 24 ft x 14. Not sure if 2 or 3 drains are needed. Your view would be appreciated. Thanks. Tony.

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  2 года назад +1

      I've seen a few ponds of that size with 2 drains working fine but id be quite tempted to put 3 in and split the load 20k per drain if your using a drum filter i wouldn't hesitate to put 3 drains in and a skimmer to use all 4 inlets of the drum.

    • @anthonyjackson4034
      @anthonyjackson4034 2 года назад

      @@AdamJulyan Thank you Adam, I think what I will do is have three - 2 Spindrifters at the ends and have one standard bottom drain in the middle. That way all of the pond floor will pull into the drains.

    Think the "spinner fry" have neurological or swimbladder issues,its going to happen among any population,In the process of rebuilding both main pond and grow on to include ashp and inline heater,much easier to provide a stable environment.Enjoy your videos.

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  2 года назад +1

      Im pretty sure it's neurological as they only do it at specific times I haven't been able to find that fish since the video I suspect its because they where all a bit stressed due to the camera it must be fine until its stressed or something like that.
      ASHP on koi ponds are brilliant well in general they are brilliant I just had one installed to heat my entire house maybe next year ill upgrade the fry tank to one.

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  2 года назад

      They fluctuate like crazy on a night my ammonia is about 0.3mg/l on a morning it will be about 0.05mg/l as the filter is so big and the tank so small it build up through the day due to heavy feeding and quickly catches up over night. the Nitrite is a similar story.

    Ever thought about underfloor heating on a tank. Not sure the practicalities but it maybe worth looking at for the future. I’ll let you work it all out and I’ll just copy you 😂

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  2 года назад +1

      Underfloor heating works great around a tank the electric ones are a cheap way to heat a pond but not the most cost efficient to run. its much more efficient to directly heat the water and easier however an underfloor heating system around the side of the tank would be the best way to heat a pond from the fish point of view as there wouldn't be any warm or cold spots.

    • @madmikesworld5713
      @madmikesworld5713 2 года назад

      @@AdamJulyan I was thinking that. I’ve underfloor in the house that runs through plastic pipes with the heat flowing upwards.
