I've always run a 20 ft enclosed trailer as my main trailer. The biggest thing for me is having everything under cover and not having to unload at the end of the day. Also I can keep all of my spare parts with the mowing trailer and not have to swap it from truck to truck when I run a different truck.

I run open trailers keeps the equipment cooler, i do more landscaping jobs so the versatility of throwing sod, brush, mulch Best thing is when you need two types of materials like mulch and rocks to the same house rocks in the truck mulch on the trailer no delivery fees and no time wasted going back for the secondary materials👍 yes mulch on a trailer is less efficient but on smaller jobs that extra 10-15 mins of shoveling it off the trailer saves you gas ,and a 20-30 mins on another run especially being a solo guy every minute counts unless you want to work later and burn more gas
Thats my thoughts Great job brian for making this channel strait to the point and hides nothing great tips and trick

At Lawn Works of West Michigan we have 3 different tailers for the exact reasons you mentioned. Enclosed also helps with handling bags of fertilizers etc. The open trailer for speed and options. Cargo trailers definitely have pros. I have a 22ft continental cargo trailer I've had for a few years now can hold 3 sit down mowers or 4 with 2 stand ons. Also got it with a wider side door where I can load a pallet of mulch and still have 2 mowers. I use my Lamar dump trailer which I love for heavier or bulky loads. With a little imagination you can remove a couple of negatives of open trailers. Large storage bin covers my big blower (straps and equipment defender rack). Covers on the weed eaters. Custom made all weather covers on the mowers, Road worthy, cold proof, keeps the sun and rain off. Purchased from silver lake mfg concord NH. Had them one year - so far- very pleased.

I went with a "snowmobile" type enclosed 7.5×24, and it helps to correct a couple downsides to the enclosed trailers...with the v nose and front ramp, you can unload a mower in the front without have to unload every mower in the trailer...also, it has "gas doors" on the sides so you can get the nozzle in and fill up almost as easily as an open trailer.

I started with a small single axle open utility trailer and didn't like it at all for normal mowing. Always had to unload equipment at the end of the day and had to have a space to store the equipment. Enclosed trailer is the best decision I've had just wished I went with the 8.5x 16 instead of the 7x16...
Also have an bigger open trailer for other things I may need it for.

Ran an open 14' enclosed and half ton truck for years. The versatility of the open trailer and weight has always been nice. Cons for me: my equipment has definitely taken a toll from the elements and I don't have a place to store the whole trailer away from the elements so always having to unload and have equipment around the house. Secondly some landscape jobs that required me to haul away debris or anything meant unloading that by hand at the dump at the end of the day which was another job on its own. On a 95° day with 90% humidity in GA talk about feeling like dying. So last year I took the leap and purchased a 14k # rated dump trailer. A friend's dad let me store that at his shop but it's outside. I got it for a steal but knew it would open up another can of worms. I can do all the brush work and mulch much more easily with it but now the problem was my half ton. Well I decided to get a 3/4 ton diesel. This has opened up a lot of possibilities for me. So with the dump trailer now my open landscape trailer was basically just hauling mowers around. I also store the diesel truck at the shop so this meant loading mowers onto my open trailer and towing it to the shop with my half ton and then unhooking to get hooked up to the diesel. Talk about a pita. Well I got an enclosed trailer now as I want the rolling billboard, I want the storage, and I want to take advantage of having the heavier duty truck. I got aluminum signs made for my open trailer last year that cost me $900 and they brought in a handful of new accounts. Planning on wrapping my 16' enclosed here soon but $3500 to do a wrap is no joke! I know it's going to pay for itself in the long run but definitely something to consider folks. Plan on selling the open 14' trailer. Only thing that makes me want to keep it is for loading small equipment like mini skid steers or mini excavators. I guess down the road I'll probably get an equipment trailer.

My favorite is an enclosed. When I worked at a larger company we ran enclosed. They just are so much more organized and it's a shop, storage, and restroom on wheels. Plus you cannot beat the advertisement. With my business I'm currently running a utility trailer. Alot easier to get around and cheaper option for beginner companies. But I'd recommend to everyone to work there way up to an enclosed when more established.

Here is my take Brian. I have a 2015 Diesel Isuzu NPR now and before this truck, I had a 1999 Diesel Isuzu NPR the I sold to buy my present truck. I have all my equipment secure and don't have to worry about tight spots to maneuver. I can carry a Lazer Z 48" with a bagging system, a 48" Starris, a 36" walk-behind, and a 42" walker mower. I have racks installed for my backpacks blowers, trimmers, chainsaws, etc. Shelves for gas cans, tools. I started with an open trailer about 30 years ago but once I found the box trucks for me was the perfect setup. Hope this helps

Utility trailer, I park mine in my shop so it's out of the elements plus I only do it part time with 14 yards. My first year in 2009 my neighbor gave me a 6x12 single axle trailer for free! He was excited to see a young man running a business. As the years went I thought about an enclosed trailer for storage and was about to go fulltime cutting but the weight, cost and me getting a big promotion at my daily job steered me away and once I started picking up bigger clients I needed a bigger mower and bought a 7x16 tandem utility trailer and love it.

It holds my 42 inch zero turn and my push mower. My trimmer, blower and other tools go in the back of my truck. I have a flip-bak bed cover that keeps the tools out of site. My mowers take a beating in the rain, but the other tools stay dry. Some times I wish I had an enclosed trailer. I also think that sometimes signage on the trailer attracts thief’s. In terms of protection from the elements (specifically rain), the thing I was most looking forward to when I went to an enclosed was keeping the rain off the trimmers, blowers, etc . I had problems for years with the air filters getting wet on them...while they were still wet the motors would run terribly, if at all! Once the filter dried, the dirt and oils on the filter would be spread out from the water and make the filter almost unable to get air through it...

Tell her your purse makes $$ 😁👍
Enclosed is great for many reasons....open just easier access and to get around and fuel up mowers....your points are all on point.😎👍

Both but if I had to choose one first it would be a utility trailer. Way more versatile. Now if I was going to mow only then it would be an enclosed trailer.

Started with open...than enclosed than open now I use both depending on the job list. Enclosed is like a mini garage....

I think the main decision point, for me, would be cost. Not only the cost of the trailer but also having to buy a heavier duty truck to pull an enclosed.

I run a 7x16 utility. I am putting up a car port with both ends open but have enclosed sides so I can pull my trailer under it and it's out of the rain. Planning on installing a few led light bars on the inside of the roof of the car port for lighting at night. Luckily i have almost two acres of a yard to fit it. I would like a enclosed trailer one day but in my area they are pricey

I primarily use my enclosed trailer. Keep my blowers and weed eaters on equipment defender racks. And the mowers down the middle, I keep the spare blades, oils, tools, etc in a front cabinet. I do have a "utility" style for those days when I have needs for it. But I use it for so many other things that I can't install racks for my trimmers and blowers, so they usually end up in the truck bed or beside the mowers on those days. My enclosed always ends up being my equipment "garage" though at the end of the day

single axle 5x8. Holds my 42" zturn john deere, and has a rack for edger and weedeater. I can pull this still attached to my 2 door jeep rubicon in my garage perfectly. weedeater and edger are on a rack that locks. blower goes in the back of jeep. Works perfect and parking this setup in front of client's houses without blocking the mailboxes is great. I'm curious how the parking goes with a bigger setup.

I personally like the enclosed because I have everything I need with me. Basically my rolling shop

You're rolling billboard comments were quite good. For several years I operated a construction related business and had my work truck covered as my rolling billboard. I picked up a lot of business from people that just saw me drive by. I never could understand why so many of my competitors had what I called stealth trucks, no logo, no name, no phone number, just a regular pickup truck.

Don't even need to watch the video, the answer is yes! There are many things that an enclosed trailer is absolutely the best option, and there are many things an open trailer is absolutely the best option. There's a lot of overlap, but both types of trailers have their niche.

Utility because I keep my small equipment locked in the bed and regularly dump bagged clippings, sticks etc on the utility along with the mowers
