All you need to do is start a petition drive in your state. Get enough signatures and you can get a proposition vote at the next general election.
@@jackhammer1021 so then there are three states. Actually I think a Y doesn’t really count because they’re in their own time zone several hours away. This only matters in the continental United States. When you’re as far away as Hawaii it doesn’t affect business in the continental United States because you know you’ve got a big time difference. But when you conduct business and you’re dealing with different time zones it makes a huge difference. In the lower 48 a.k.a. the continental United States I think it’s just Arizona and Indiana. No one cares about Hawaii and Alaska. They don’t factor into much daily business activity for the average person. Nor the average business.

I am 65 and have been living in Spain for just over a year now. I am curious as to why the speakers have not touched on the subject of siestas. Have they conducted any research on the pros and cons of effectively having twice as many days in a year. Albeit half days. Most animals nap at random times during the day so surely this must be hugely beneficial to humans as well.
Excellent speakers and fascinating info about the power of napping! I nap after lunch every day for about 30-45 mins and derive huge benefit from it. I often do my best academic work after a siesta...! Also, a problem in the morning seems to seem a lot less after a nap in the early afternoon.
I agree, especially as one gets older more and more is required. I remember in my 20's I was fine on 4 to 5 hours of sleep, but now in my 40's I needs 7 to 8 hours or more to feel fine.
In order to sleep, it has to be fun to sleep. So, if we are being creative in making things fun by using the theory of suggestion, a talk with the divine, massage various parts of the bodies while breathing deeply, drinking water to lower the temperature, etc.., then sleeping would be easy. In short, the body has to be cool, and we have to breathe deeply to bring more oxygen the cells, then we would just sleep. If it still does not work, then try to massage every parts of the body while breathing deeply, so the muscles could be relaxed. We have to tell ourselves that we would deal with things the next day, and if it is beyond our control, then let God do the worry while we sleep.)

Suggestion that a key part of the need for sleep is the body's need to make serotonin, which it does in a symbiotic relationship with gut bacteria in the large intestine. We sleep to first produce serotonin, then to draw it into the body through the extraction of water in the large intestine. Though it can be synthesized, there seems to be a major difference in the health benefits from the micro made serotonin, and the artificially made serotonin. Here's some notes on both how important serotonin is and how widespread it is in all living things. Besides mammals, serotonin is found in all bilateral animals including worms and insects,[19] as well as in fungi and in plants.[20] Serotonin's presence in insect venoms and plant spines serves to cause pain, which is a side-effect of serotonin injection.[21][22] Serotonin is produced by pathogenic amoebae, and its effect in the human gut is diarrhea.[23] Its widespread presence in many seeds and fruits may serve to stimulate the digestive tract into expelling the seeds.[24] Gut bacteria manufacture about 95 percent of the body's supply of serotonin, which influences both mood and GI activity.

I absolutely KNOW i would have done better in school if I'd had adequate sleep, but I had to work to help my family survive. I worked the swing shift all the way thru high school, getting home about midnight or 1:00 a.m.
If I could have just slept in in the morning, it would have helped SO much.
I might even have managed to graduate 🎓 😅
Getting up in the morning feels like being a pebble in a shoe.
And I’m here sleeping 3 hrs for the past who knows how many days for school and studying 😒
Having enough sleep is having a longer years of stay on this earth.
People be so worried that they are "wasting time" sleeping that they are literally shorting their lifespans

Its 2:47 am currently, i really like the video so far
Excellent speakers and fascinating info about the power of napping! I nap after lunch every day for about 30-45 mins and derive huge benefit from it. I often do my best academic work after a siesta...! Also, a problem in the morning seems to seem a lot less after a nap in the early afternoon.
Can't agree more than you... Me too...a nap after meals in a day times...
If you work in the film industry we get very little sleep sometimes 2 hours as we travel from the set location to home some of us work 14 to 16 hours.
Even when I sleep well for a week straight and go just one night without it, I'm totally exhausted and depressed the entire next day.
A wonderful lecture! Quality sleep is so vital for good health.
I agree, especially as one gets older more and more is required. I remember in my 20's I was fine on 4 to 5 hours of sleep, but now in my 40's I needs 7 to 8 hours or more to feel fine.
10 minutes of patting themselves on the back. Got bored. Went to Sleep.
Good job
LMAO 🤘😆🤘
Good advice 👍 and Amen
Urgh this us such great advice 👌🔥
Every day can be good with 7-9 hours of sleep. Try it!
7 is not enough.
Ridiculous
@@sl4983 ideally, 9 to 10! Yes.
@@sl4983 you are so correct. However, sometimes it is just not possible to get all the hours. 7 hours is better than 4. I can function about 6 hours on 7 hrs sleep. I'm a neurotic mess regarding sleep. (I know, way too much info).
@@sl4983 11 is not enough
Can't believe I'm watching this at 3:18AM , been binge-watching inspirational/educational videos all day...and night
The great resignation is an opportunity to balance workplace environments. It’s never pointed to and wasn’t covered in this lecture, but workplaces can be toxic and contribute to sleep issues.
Lean philosophy imo has been a major contributor to workplace stress.
Covid has given people time to think. And they may get it right by negotiation for better employer employee relations.

Besides mammals, serotonin is found in all bilateral animals including worms and insects,[19] as well as in fungi and in plants.[20] Serotonin's presence in insect venoms and plant spines serves to cause pain, which is a side-effect of serotonin injection.[21][22] Serotonin is produced by pathogenic amoebae, and its effect in the human gut is diarrhea.[23] Its widespread presence in many seeds and fruits may serve to stimulate the digestive tract into expelling the seeds.[24]
Gut bacteria manufacture about 95 percent of the body's supply of serotonin, which influences both mood and GI activity.
Wondering late at night, coming across this talk.. honest to god.. the irony of how it lets me sleep in 15 minutes.. This is my go-to video before I want to sleep.
Schools should start at 9:00 am for our children and teens. Or 8:40 -8:45
It does in the UK
Maybe even 8:42? 😳
Or 10am school start would stop heavy traffic, gridlocks, and. Calm nerves! It’s crazy having everyone’s start time the same when scheduled for differing times could save lots of hassle and enough sleep for those that need more especially teens.

Yes its obvious we need sleep. How about dedicating some time to meaningful approaches on how to achieve it.

Why doesn’t this Professor
see someone about the constant throat irritations. Constantly clear the throat is a sign of what?
In some parts of the world,
afternoon nap is a cultural practice.
In your opinion, if this practice is acceptable and be adopt into the school/work system?

there's many luxury I couldn't afford now, and sleep is one of them.
That's unfortunate! :/
If sleep became a luxury for you, then you're in the wrong job! Get rid of it first
If sleep is a luxury when you living in a first world country, you are doing something stupid or making stupid decisions
perfect to listen to while i fall asleep thanks!
Next time anyone feels sleepy behind the wheel, if you can't pull over to sleep in your car, try singing along with something on the radio. Has kept me awake every time.
If you're tired, eyes heavy, don't risk it. Pull over somewhere safe. Take a couple hours nap. It's the right thing to do.

Suggest looking at You Tube with massage the Vagus nerve around the ear and neck area. This should have a relaxing and blood pressure lowering effect.
I would suggest making changes in diet. Some foods can actually induce sleep. And I know for me personally I have to make sure I'm getting enough exercise mentally as well as physically everyday or it's impossible for me to fall asleep. My biggest problem is just self discipline!! If I could just get myself to lay down, I always go straight to sleep. Just never wanna go to bed.

My brain doesn’t stay asleep after 1 1/2 or 2 hrs at a time every night. Most the the I stay awake after that for 3 hrs. Then I sleep off and on till 6 or 7 am. Noooo naps at all during the day. Try not to eat any sugar after 3 pm.
