You all make me sick. He's fine... he has two legs for a reason.
He barely passed out twice today with the pain 🙄
😂
I'm sorry, Daire! Here's to a speedy recovery.
Stayed for years to watch the 300k squat. I’ll wait however long it takes to see the lad get it done. Sorry to hear about the injury man
dog smelled the quad goblins around 0:55, was trying to tell you.
serious note, best of luck on recovery
Piss all the squat fairies away had me in tears… all the best with the injury though..
speedy recoveries!
Sorry for your injury. May you have a quick and strong recovery
Sorry to hear that, wishing you all the best with the recovery.
Sorry to hear about the injury! Get better soon
i wish you a happy, fast and good recovery
This is so unfortunate. Hope it heals well Daire, all the best.
My solution to not getting injured is never repeating the same exercise or chasing the same goal exercise to long, few months is fine. Most injuries are RSI injuries where the muscle just can't recover from the repetitive beating, give it a rest, go train bench instead of squat or go train stone lifting instead of snatch. Variety is the spice of life.
Well said. 🫵
In my opinion it’s an issue of strength imbalances, combined with too much volume and frequency
@insurrectionist5099 you just said RSI with more words haha. You did the same thing, to often for to long. Imbalances ensue, connective tissue degradation, other motor patterns become dysfunctional etc. Then boom, an injury from repetitive strain.
@@IsaacMorgan98 contextually I meant doing the same exercises long term isn’t a problem if you manage recovery and overall strength development correctly
@insurrectionist5099 I would agree, as long as their is other variety included in training. You can manage recover all you want but if you do exclusively just a small handful of exercises, you'll injure yourself. We aren't made to strain doing the same thing over and over and over. Look at runners, if all they do is run and no other exercise then chances are much higher that they end up with injuries
Wish you a fast and good recovery 🙏
You're a hard bastard, Daire. You'll recover in no time.
Remember first squat at 70kgs, great coach training make me up to 117 kg cant remember 3 or 4 months.. Back 1 years half ago and tested 155kg with no training at all after 5 or 6 years off gim.. Remember stay happy with 3x5 or 5x5 on 125/135 3 days maybe 4 per week.. until my tendons and knees explodes when add it a couple single sets of CJ before.. and never came up to 140 again.. Whats the real deal about squats? genetics? I don't wish this on anyone, hope you have a speedy recovery, i know your feeling, the addiction is real.
Heal up, boss!
It's not clear to me from the video when you got injured. It's not on the max you failed, since you say your quad is already injured at that point, so when was it?
Also, it can't be too bad a tear, since you seem to walk just fine when unloading the plates. If the quad was severely torn, you wouldn't be walking at all. So is it just a small tear, or what is the situation? Either way, hoping the best for your recovery!
probably just the muscle tearing away from its self rather than coming off the tendon. theres still a lot of muscle in the quad thats perfectly ok.
Having torn my quad in the same place, you can definitely walk but any kind of squatting or walking upstairs feels like a tearing sensation and the bigger the rom the worse the pain gets. So standing out of a chair/toilet turns into a hip drahve low bar squat to avoid pain.
Damn sorry to see. Here’s to a quick recovery
Damn 🥺 sorry to hear man
Ah fuck thats terrible! I hope the recovery is speedy!
Let’s make this a series of videos on the recovery process!! ( exercises, stretches all that good stuff) 😎😎😎
How do you plan to rehab the quad? I'd have expected you would take more time off before your next volume block?
Wishing a speedy recovery nevertheless!
Speedy recovery
You’ll come back!!
Get well soon Daire
Get well soon! Hope you got some BPC and TB around!
Wishing a speedy recovery. I tore my quad lateralis a few years ago at the end of a high volume block (140kg 4x8). Left an index finger wide dent in the thigh and took about 8 months to be totally painfree but I still trained. Took me 3 years to beat my 8RM (145kg). The tendinopathy I currently have is way worse though, I've been trying to hit 180kg for 10 years but my future is now uncertain. :(
Spam the 45sec ISOs for tendinopathy
@@CoolColJ been doing that for past bouts of tendinopathy but lately it's been getting worse. Time is the only thing that works but at my age I'm not sure how much I have left.
@@Lavabug Works for me and I'm 53 years old. Had Achilles, Patella, quad tendon, glute medius, sartorius tendon issues. All fixed from lots of 45 sec ISO holds with weights and pushing against an object or opposite limb. Combined with Slow tempo lifts. If it gets worst you need tor educed loading and frequency. It should be trending upwards over time
@@LavabugI had tendinopathy in my patellar tendon for 2.5 years. 45 second one leg isometrics on the leg extension machine at the start of a workout + 3 sec eccentric box squats at a pretty low weight (at least 60% of your 1RM for full squat though) worked for me. As long as the pain is the same or better than last workout (and should give at least 48 hrs between workouts) then you can creep the weight up by 5lbs or add a rep per set (or add one to all sets if you're doing higher reps). Once you're mostly pain free close to your 8RM or so then you can switch to full depth squats back down at the weight you started the box squats with and creep back up again the same way. Takes 3-4 months but it worked great for me when I used to feel like my knee was exploding just squatting 80kg
@@signs80 I do the spanish squat isos cause I don't have a leg extension, they worked for quad tendinopathy but for patellar they cripple me and I can't squat afterwards. So I'm doing it at a different time of the day.
ohh noo man, sorry to hear that
Heal up soon. Will be interesting to see what you do for rehab 😢
It sounds like your legs were very fatigued in non-squat ways (smaller stabilizers, tendons, etc) from the week's workouts. What conditions should you follow in tangential exercises to avoid injuries like this?
Would you consider implementing the "wolverine protocol", or are planning to recover without assistance?
Daire had a quad tear
Squatting too much plus running
Hope fast recover
Always reassuring that high level coaches make the same mistakes we do
Get Well..........please 🤝🏋️♂️🙏
Oh no, best of Luck to you.
I see exactly where you went wrong here.
Going to the toilet post warm up was the single biggest mistake 😂
How common is this injury? I’ve heard of bicep tears being common with heavy deadlifts, but a torn quad seems kinda crazy.
Extremely rare, quad muscle belly tears are very rare barbell sports. Tendinopathies are more common and complete tendon ruptures in elite geared powerlifting (still very rare).
First Messo, now this, my heart can't take anymore tragedy.
Noooo, hope you heal up well. Probably not the best to see a day before going for a 1RM haha
ANTA 2 review?
Use peptides to heal faster and make a video on it?
Coach needs a coach :)
Bad luck. Look after yourself.
Man that blows. Doesn't even look like you didn't anything "wrong" here? Solid warm up and no huge jumps in weight. What a bummer. Hope you bounce back fast mate. What does this mean for the 5 min mile challenge?
Peptides my good sir; bpc 157. I wonder how you will approach this injury.
No research on humans and it's banned by multiple food and drug agencies + WADA, if you care about that sort of thing. Who knows what you're buying on the black market.
Sorry to hear that lad, I'm sure you'll get lots of sympathy from Eoin, aye?
Guess Rebuilding Milo was unsuccessful
Fckn dose. Commiserations. Tweaked my rotator cuff squatting last year. What kind of a jinnet does his shoulder squatting!?!?
Those jump warm up didn’t help I bet. Don’t do that.
Doing bodyweight jumps before squats doesn't cause a quad tear, it's a standard warmup. Poor Fitz clearly had an underlying pathology doing way too much running on top of squats.
Why start warming up jumping so many times like a basketball player when your doing squats? Absolute bafoonery
You couldn't even tear it 100%. Weak.
Paid my respects today to the squat gods with Klokov style pause squats. 🫡
Chin down and soldier on, we'll be here when you do 500/5
