- "That’s kind of the trajectory of the guitar - there was never a point when it wasn’t apart of my life... I never for a minute wanted to do anything except be a guitar player."
Watch how Stephen Egerton of punk icons The Descendents channels his Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray guitar to master and produce his unique sonic footprint to bring his music to life.

One of the greatest punk rock guitarist of all time. Sheer aggressiveness,
melodic and meticulously articulated guitar work. Love ya Stephen and thank you Ernie Ball for making this video.
Stephen Egerton is an amazing guitar player, but most importantly, an amazing person!

This man is one of the reasons pop punk exists. Solid rhythmic playing and catchy lead lines. Love Stephen!
Yes. But check earlier ALL stuff. You'd be surprised by the amt of shredding. Listen to the solo to SUgar and Spice. It's nuts. He did a lot more flash before and became a little more understated after he started playing the musicmans I think. Still amazing, just less shred factor.
I've seen him play live a dozen times, and his passion and ferocity come through every single time, and based on our brief encounter last week in Lawrence, Kansas... he's exactly who we see here.
What great tone Eggerton has.
Just vicious downstrokes. Very underrated. Great player from an even better band. Groundbreaking and still loved.
Stephen: Can I get 6 shots of espresso in a cup to go
Baristas everywhere: DO YOU WANT UR HEART TO STOP BEATING?
Punk rock music isn't my personal cup of tea, but I absolutely love the passion, dedication, and DIY ethos of the genre. Nothing but respect for Stephen and the way he lives his life.
danh5150 personal cup of coffee?
I’ll be leaving the comment section, don’t you worry.
Your the man Egerton!
Stephens playing is the perfect combo of ferocity and precision. By far the best guitarist in punk.
Absolutely love Descendents and All!! Stephen Egerton is one of the most lovely, humble down to earth musicians Ive ever met. Best show Ive ever seen was All back in 92.
Incredible guitar player, both in ALL and The Descendents. And Flag. His solo record is great too!
You have and are inspiring far more than a few. Just about every punk guitarist who has landed on your trail has been blown away.
One of my favorite guitarists
Great dude, great player, great band... great influence. THANKS, MAN!!
LOVE THIS.
Thx for the music sir ❤️
Thank you for playing the way you do. 😎
So much love for this guy. What a contribution. Huge inspiration for me and my guitar playing. It's nice when your heroes are nice people.
This was super rad. The new stingrays are amazing, id love one like Stephen’s but with a volume knob. What a cool dude and great musician.
Stephen is such a great player and a really humble guy....Thanks for the music and actually one of like no bands that actually is better now then they were and are having a ton of fun. Thank you.
Great video about a great guitarist who is a great guy in a great band.
I need a signature Stephen Egerton Guitar!!!
Been saying this for years, same with a Mike Herrera (MxPx) bass.
Yes! I would buy one if Music Mans weren’t so damn expensive.
Wish Granted! Just wish they weren’t so expensive, or they at least make a Sterling version.
Little known fact is that he's a really good drummer as well
This is so fucking great it makes me want to cry. Yep, gonna remain a music man guy for life now.
Circle Jerks - Group Sex. What an amazing album! Glad Stephen pointed that out.
Greatest guy ever! DESCENDENTS!
Easily my favorite guitar player. His playing and style has influenced my playing for so long. Whether it’s with Descendents, or the amazing shit he did with ALL, or Flag, or his solo album and Slorder, it’s always been nothing but phenomenal. I ended up getting a Stingray guitar because of him, and I’ve not regretted it since. He is easily the biggest influence on me musically.
the descerndents..FUCKIN LOVE them!! milo, bill, stephen and Karl. just an amazing band. one of the all time greats. going to see them October 28 in New Haven.. I CANT WAIT
The "Coffee" enthusiast @5:18 is the best!🤣🤣🤣
ALL!!!!!
No, ALL!
I just got a sterling stingray and I have to say I absolutely love it. I’ve been playing Mexican fender jazzies and Teles and the stingray plays soooo much better IMO and I don’t have to do any bridge mods (Jazzmaster) or anything. Neck is amazing and I just can’t even walk by it without picking it up. One day when I have enough cash I’m buying a music man. Just can’t afford the $1k up guitars yet.
That Sterling Valentine is also really nice 👍
🐐
Love it! How about a Karl Alvarez bass too eh?
I appreciate Ernie Ball's restraint. They could have made this mostly an ad, but went the other direction.
Fken brilliant!!! Stephen does the same as me getting rid of guitar nobs you dont use!!!? And he once spent 30mins teaching me how to play Mary!!
the actual evolution of the "Bonus Cup" clearly and expertly explained. "mug/Mug/MUG!!!!"
Anyone know what those black "pot hole/pick guard hole" covers/inserts are called and who makes them?
Why would anyone dislike this video?
cmon...
Was this filmed at The Catalyst in Santa Cruz?
Any idea which pickup he uses in that custom guitar?
I could be wrong, but it's a Music man pickup, I'm unsure which one. Stephen has used stock pickups since switching to EB
Was this filmed in Santa Cruz?
this dude is awesome... super nice guy. the real (SLC punk)... not the made up version!!! Massacre Guys forever!!!
What guitar does he use?
What's the best way to get a stingray in slovakia?
Vyprážaný Syr go to store. Pick up stingray. Pay. Drive home. Play show with stingray. Get chicks. Profit.
@@mitchellmckay7302 They don't have it at any store here, and also at stores in neighboring countries where I've been.
Who writes the music for this band and ALL? I noticed that ALL has a lot more key changes and weird chord progressions lol
They all share writing lyrics and music
He sounded like Creed Bratton lol
