For all the "I love you Dave" comments, I love you Bill Stevenson. The heart and soul behind three of the greatest punk bands of all time.
Diogo Pace
Descendants, ALL, and Black Flag, I assume?

Auto-correct...:p
All is not one of the greatest punk bands of all time. The descendents and black flag are
@@sawyercannon2404 ALL are amazing and are definitely one of the best.
Bill Stevenson is by far one of the greatest punk rock drummers and one of the greatest drummers period! And he loves the Beach Boys and that makes me respect him even more!!
True. I listen to lots of different music styles and I remember hearing Milo goes to college and man, that drumming..
I got to intern at The Blasting Room Studios that Bill owns. I only saw him maybe 10 times in the two years I worked there, but he is a super nice guy and obviously killer drummer. One of the greatest compliments I’ve ever received was him walking in while my band was listening back to our recording and said “Who are these guys, they are really good!?” Life complete
Milo Goes to College...one of the greatest punk rock albums of all time. South Bay Punk.
it's so great that some bands that have made it big give shoutouts to these hugely influential bands that are still kind of under the radar to a lot of people. another example would be that Travis Barker from Blink 182/Transplants has a baby Milo tattoo.
This is some really great footage, especially that tattoo bit at the end.
I learned the drums the same way, not with the pillows or anything, but by listening mainly to Descendents and ALL. I notice that with ALL, Karl and Bill step it up a notch. Amazing band, even more amazing live.
+Trevor Dishaw He was better in Black Flag
+Paul Ricco very true
True but when I think Black Flag I think Robo as his style was early Black Flag the speed and power but he would not have been right for My War as My War has more room to really play open the bass drum up a little and play an the and and the e too. Bill was the best drummer for technique but Damaged is all about speed and power.
I love Dave Grohl
Nice backpack.
He's so adorable!! Love him!
Hope brought me here, which is a classic and one of the bands which made me want to join a band. "Take a quaalude, relax your mind." Excellent and great to hear Dave talk about his punk roots. Bill Stevenson what a multi talented man he is. Milton Keynes Sept 2015 I was there. Break a Leg, as per my T, Dave. My hero as a young drummer was DH Peligro and I was lucky enough to meet him a few years ago and he was an absolute gent and chatted with me quite a while and great hugger too.
I HAVE FOLLOWED U FOR MANY YEARS DAVE I CAN ROCK THE HOUSE ALWAYS NO MATER WHAT BROKEN & ALL U PULLED IT OFF TY FOR THE ❤️ & YEARS OF PLAYING DON'T STOP PLZ😊❤️💯
Oh my GAWD!!
ONE of the greatest song intros EVER!!!
And best drumbeats and playing sessions ever!
Nirvaner is my fave band and I have a BLK flag tattoo I gave myself on my arm!
With errthang bad in life right now!.... this video just gave me a HUGE spark of happiness!🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘🍹🍹💚🖤💚🖤😎😎🥰🥰🤘
Just watched filmage the other night. Great stuff 🐸🍺🔪🔥
This is gold!
Duuuude Bill Stevenson is just fuckin god! Got to listen to ALL Descendents albums, or Black Flag ones with Bill, just listen to black flag's avant garde hardcore punk brilliant EP The Process of Wedding Out it's just mind-blowing.
So much respect to Dave knowing that he idolizes fucking Bill Stevenson and John Bonhan as fucking drums gods they are.
the nicest guy in rock and roll??? you play in NZ even though you broked your leg on stage.. went to te hospital, got fixed and came back to finish the show, the man! who the fuck would do that! only you, sooo much respect for that, and it was a great show !!!! we waited for you , and you dindt disappoint us, love you man just for that
Dave grohl are really nice, such a good personality!
AWESOME in so many levels!!!
This is what if you really want something you’ll go to any length to get it like I was playing on pillows I just came back from a walk guitar strap to my chest learning new chords 41 years old. You learn a lot by playing music about yourself it’s just not about music determination all these great things, especially get older
I don't believe in heroes, but Dave Grohl is the man i am jealous of, because i think he's one of the coolest people on the planet, he's in my top 3 P= favorite men on the planet. He's a great modern day artist.
yeah, he is still the only guy i have ever been jealous of, tehehehe.
over produced phony ,, listen to him when he tell you who the great bands were ,
So what yuu are saying is that yuu have yure own perspective on the situation and yuu believe....that he is a false person because of some action which seems false in your perception of the situation, but these bitches are hollywood....so of course they are either all fake....or fucken lucky as the luckiest bitches in the world, equals...if yuu don't know that shit by now, thanks for being repetitive, lol.
I'm jealous of his cool hair 😆😆😆
Grohl is right Bill Stevenson is one of the pantheon of drumming greats. And the Decsendants mastered teen age alienation in thier music. Blink 182, say thanks to Milo and Bill for paving the way
We have Bill Stevenson to thank for wankers like Blink 182? Kinda makes me hate him
I love The Descendants and Nirvana!
i knew IT !!! when i heard that QOTSA song i told to my friend that the intro drums was soooo similar to slip it in... but i didn't knew it was on purpose XD
Ahh the descendents...so called hope : ) I love them
You remind me of Andy Kauffman in this video for some reason. Tank you very much.
Awesome
I love u Dave G
This was cool.
He's almost Kenneth from 30 Rock in this video
Exactly
wow this is cool!
He acts like he is the only drummer that played on books listening to their favorite music.
Wow, nice!
what a gem
Is there a band that DG didn't love and get influenced by?
Delirious NomaD probably nickelback
Uh, yours?
black veil brides
Hole
Nickelback!
I like the idea of it...
I used to do the same thing with the pillows when i first started to play drums.. At the age of 5 ♥
Bill Stevenson is drum royalty!
Dave...just meet him. I'm sure he'd be glad to finally meet you!!
This is what it would look like if Dave went to college after Nirvana.
haha yeah. that's great!
he should have mentioned them on the stern interview. he did talk about seeing naked raygun. throw 'em a bone!
Just saw bill down here in fort lauderdale, and his old fat self was still as much of a beast as he's always been... hes such a talented punk, a true drum ogre.
Did you submit this to Filmage?
This is cool. Which year is that? 🎪🤩
cool
Lol, I play big rides and learned to play drums because of Dave.
When did you meet Dave? My guess is this is 2002 when they released One by One judging by the hairstyle. Did you run into him backstage? Did you ask him beforehand to meet him to talk about ALL?
Scream's first record is one of the best things in the world. Dave wasn't in the band then though.
"Still screaming" is a masterpiece
Been listening to a lot of ALL lately and been thinking how much the Foo Fighters must have been influenced by them. ALL is better of course :)
Fucking LoVe stories like this
28" ride!!!
Watching in 2019 -- this is an old vid -- maybe '04 or '05?
When's this from?
dave grohl being interviewed in science class
Stevenson was probably the best drummer black flag had but Robo drummed during their best years
Bill Stevenson is my hero. To this day.
whats the brand of his jacket ?
From which Year was this Interview ?
It's funny how drummers all have similar stories.
thanks&love ☆♪★
From what Year is that ?
The Filmage guys sat down with Dave Grohl.
e foda,não se esqueça de foda :)
How did that happen ?
Bill is the best hardcore drummer.
Bill Stevenson’s favorite band- Propagandhi
Source?
@@bassage13 he said in an interview
@@bassage13 search bill stevenson sings Propagandhi
This is the coolest fucking video I've ever watched!
ripped off a " Down by Law" song as well
Paul Ricco
I'm curious. What dbl song, and what song did he rip it off into?
thats a great band, you should check out Pollen.
I don't really ear a lot of Stevenson in Grohl's drumming style tho...
this guy kind of looks like the guy from nirvana
Rad
2006 ish at a guess
Wake up early! Mad at you! Go to school! But where were you? You should have told me! I should have known. But now you're gone! And I'm alone!
Oh shit ALL...give me dag nasty original
Bill is by far the most iconic member of the descendents!
MiLo MiLO MiLo
Backup218 gotta agree since he Milo literally is the icon lol
Ian Pedro Milo?!
We get it. Dave Grohl was influenced by a lot of "iconic"(overused word but what the hell) artists. JOIN THE CLUB, Dave.
Go home Dave Grohl! You're Drunk..j/k you are always drunk, and we Always love you
Dave Girl
that doesnt deserve a response...my god,,,
It's just DESCENDENTS. There is no "The" in their name.
how many fucking pillows does he have
if Queens of the Stone Age are such fans of Black Flag, why does their music suck something awful. Grohl is awesome tho
A lot of their stuff is kinda hard to get into, but their best albums imo are Songs for the Deaf and Rated R. So tucking good.
Are you mistaking them for someone else? Check out sick, sick, sick. Most of there music is punk as fuck.
cool
