Wiw really interesting! I have a couple of mandarin ducks! They are so cute. They are always together. Now, in autumn, the male has also brown feathers like the female. He doesn't need attraction until winter ends.
But what I also wanna say, that these ducks are not domesticated, their wings were cutted by the owner so that they can't fly. Thats not ok - right! Shortning the feathers from time to time surely is a better alternative.

Imagine sexual dimorphism in dinosaurs that can't be inferred from fossils. These ducks would be so bland if discovered from fossils.

If you were to do another video on a member of the waterfowl family, a diving duck would be perfect. Think of Mergansers, the Long-tailed Duck, Scoters, and the Ruddy Duck.

I always wondered: If in nature sexual dimorphism *usually* is about males being fancier than females... wouldn't that mean that in humans, males should also be fancier? However, what we find is that females are regarded as the ones having to do the fancy stuff.

Usually doesn’t mean all the time. And who says the males aren’t fancier? I think because we have sentience and today’s morals and stuff affect on what we view as fancier and stuff. Like if we go on just base natural biology and stuff we will be seen as a bigot by a lot of people. I literally know a couple people irl who think it’s close minded of me to mention natural biology. So I don’t know.

If you think about humans sexual dimorphism. It's very telling and tragic if you think about what past human women probably had to deal with and still do deal with.
