Even though it's all bright and colorful, you can still tell by the bald head that it sticks its head in carrion. I believe all vultures share this feature since otherwise their heads would become an infection breeding ground.
@@astuteanansi4935 Not quite, actually. All vultures have feathers on their necks and heads, and many Old World Vultures have more extensive layers of feathers in these areas. So far, evidence suggests that those with less feathering lack extensive neck and head plumage for thermoregulatory purposes; we’ve yet to find something which points to it being a hygienic adaptation.

breaks my heart to know that one day, not too distant future, these beautiful birds and many other animals will be gone forever due to the human destruction of their ecosystems. i know it's a pessimistic way of looking at things but it's true. Wonderful video...thank you!

I will always stand on the idea that New World vultures are raptors like the others. Also I've always wondered: are terror birds considered extinct birds of prey?
They are raptors like the others, they're accipiters aka related to hawks and eagles. To be honest, almost all birds are "birds of prey" since most birds eat other animals. Only a few birds are strict herbivores.
