- Hey all,
Welcome to the ninth episode of JordanJamesTT or JJ's TT
for short.
In todays episode I shall be talking all about the
Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP) on the MK1 Audi TT. Specifically what the purpose is and how it works etc.
The ESP system wasn't actually part of the 1998, 1999 and 2000
models. The ESP system was only integrated onto these cars as
part of an early recall by Audi. To find out why this recall had
happened please either click the link below to watch my previous
video or tap the pop-up banner on screen at 0:40.
• The unexpected and sad...
Hope you found this interesting, learned something new
but most importantly enjoyed watching.
See you guys next time :) bye!
Holy smoke this is mind blowing, all I knew was reverse lol
Good vid very helpful thanks.
Who knew ! Thank you Jordan
Helped me so much thanks mate
I always turn it off in the winter and if its off it still has a yaw sensor if you get to much angle in a drift.. which annoys me lol
Oh ok, I never knew that. Learn something new everyday
You can code it out completely, as you say if you just use the button it only partially turns it off. I coded mine out years ago, i much prefer it.
Now I know what and why this button is there and what that light is. The dash display light. I thought it was an idiot light warning of a condition. On light means ESP is off. Off light means ESP it's on. Bass-ackwards. But I know now.
Please do a video on how to manually adjust drivers seat in a US 2002 TT Quattro base model. What does base vs ACLS model mean? I can make my seat go back and forth and lean back. Does this adjust the seat up and down? I am subscribed. Thanks, Bosco J.
My code reader has come up brake pressure sensor 2 fault code 00813 do you have a video on changing them.
I have a 2006 Audi TT and I was under on the steering wheel what is the positive and negative symbols do?
I have Audi TT 2003 trun indicators (right & left) totally not working but double indicator is working.
Need a new hazard switch solve all problems. How I don’t know but it’s true lol
A bash on the dashboard above it will fix it short term
Stab the hazard switch a couple of times with you finger, quite hard. It'll break the little weld that forms in the switch and it'll work for months. An Audi tech taught me this and it works every time.
My light comes on intermittently and is a pain. It probably is the sensor needs replacing..but what a pain
Sorry to hear that mate. My likely guess is it's just really sensitive for some reason. I hope it isn't too much money for a replacement sensor.
Pressure sensors on brake master cylinder.
Hi My TT's stereo is now dead, what it cold be?
Does it mean " Escape the police " ?
😂😂
I only have the hazard lights and defrost(near hvac vents) on my '00 180 TT. I don't even have that button 😅🤷🏼♂️ U.S. things I suppose
Mine has one🤷♂️
If the esp should always be turned on then why put a button there for it? That makes no sense…
Possibilité d'avoir la traduction en français j'ai le même soucis merci ✌️
it is possible retrofit ESP?
My TT is from 1999 ,1.8T quattro 180hp
After taking a quick glance online it doesn't look like you can now unfortunately. The ESP was only retrofitted by Audi as part of the 2001 recall. You might be able to get the sturdier suspension parts fitted at a backstreet garage but the ESP electronic system system itself likely not.
I apologies I can't be much more help.
Thanks for messaging :D
Yes it is possible u will need several things tho. Tbh tho it's not worth it unless u have a parts car to pull from and are able to do the job urself otherwise u will spend to much and could have simply had spent ur money on one with it. Been there done that.
I can post what's needed if anyone wants to tackle the job. Keep in mind tho it will cost way more money than it's worth and is a waste of time money effort. For the money spent on esp conversion could easily be money very well spent for major power mods and other updates that could be done. Just my two cents tho.
much funner without it :)
To long video for this. Could cut it down to under a minute
the suspension different from mine ...because its European?
I have seen pretty sweet gain of power whenever I turn off the ESP... Is it possible?
Yea I always turn it off in all my cars. It slows the car down
To the best of my knowledge there is correlation between the power out of an engine and the ESP system. The electronic system simply adjusts power when sensors detect wheel motion out of set parameters and help to enhance control of the vehicle on slippery conditions. I believe the manual only recommends one condition to have the switch off: driving on gravel surfaces. The icon on the dash turns on steady when the system is turned off. With the system ON the icon will illuminate in a blinking fashion and the car shall exhibit jerks as wheels spin. With switch ON, a steady icon means the system has automatically been shutdown due to a malfunction. Thanks
Your missing the rear diff!
