I think most TT owners know these things because we all have that enthusiasm about the car you have . It's nice to see
It should have been titled "5 things Joel didn't know about the Audi TT!"
Those rear compartments were primarily created for a first aid kit and 6disc cd changer. Both of which I have in my version of the mk1
Me also! although my cd charger isn't working and I feel its been disconnected as it has an aftermarket radio installed from the previous owner
@@mystictripttv9495 you be able to pick up an original Bose factory unit as many have swapped them out for new head units.
Just checked mine and I have the first aid kit. Thanks!
Same
Here for the cheap cars :)
Yep, knew all of these. Mentioned dwarf sun visor on another video like this recently... had the same on my B6 A4 Avant and my '94 Honda Legend coupe. The cubby at the back on the left has a 6 disc changer on mine.
There are more dimples on the bottom of the door pulls.
My Brother in law had a couple of TTs. When he became a father he was determined not to give it up. He even went as far as getting a roof box for it which was almost as big as the car itself. He finally relented when he had a second child and swapped it for a Disco 3.
The middle visor works great for blocking the sun , i love this feature .Also the compartment in the back normally hold a first aid kit and the other one hinds a cd changer.
One handy feature that isn't obvious is the ability to roll the windows up and down using the key fob. Helpful in tight parking spaces. Roll the window down before getting out press the lock button then keep it held down to roll the windows up.
Works on my 2004 model not the 2000 one
This is a very common feature in the Euro models but you can turn it on through coding the body control module to allow this feature. I turned it on for my 2004 S4 and will do so on my TT now
I have a fully loaded 3.2 dsg mk1, the rear cubby on the left is for a CD changer!
New most things, but oh wow the centre sun visor!! I had to walk out to mine and check! Keep up the great work
I think everyone knew this. I had the roadster version, which has loads of secret little things going on in it, like the central console that contains a cable which releases the boot, for one example, another is the fuse board delete trick which means you can lower or raise the roof at any speed (not recommended!) but there are loads of weird things about this car. I miss her.
My 2006 A4 B7 Avant had that third sun visor - always found it useful to fill that gap. My W124 coupe has one too!
Baseball leather wasn’t a special edition, it was an option. Storage in the back on passenger side was location of cd cassette for multi cd changer.
Storage cubby in the back usually houses a multi-cd changer 😊
A couple more:
1) It wasn't a "sport". It was a "quattro sport" model. It was a run-out edition and limited numbers; black, red, silver, avus silver and black with a black roof.
2) There was also a black baseball leather which is extremely rare.
3) A further special edition model was the S-Line, which was around 2001 or 2002 and had some, but not all, of the features of the post-facelift model before the facelift was brought in. It also had SLine badges on the lower sides.
4) Those rear seat compartments were for a specific purpose. The one on the passenger side held the 6 disk CD changer if you had it installed.
Look again carefully at the number of design feature dimples in the trim items you mentioned. 7s and 8s.
Yeah cap and wheels is 7.. little caps and dials is 8...
My '08 Golf had the little visor as well, loved it!
Well Joel, you learn something new everyday.great vid .
Not a TT lover but glad you're enjoying it so much!
If you do loose all of your 4 car keys (yep originally 4) or broken there is still a way to open the trunk. Open the hatch were you can place the 8n OEM cupholder there is sting inside that you can pull forward.
I have only owned one Audi TT, the 1999 model without the spoiler. Bought is more than 18 years ago and and I am now over 340K km (211K miles). Also have the OEM roof rack very nice design, although a bit delicate.
Great video thanks. I’ve got. 2022 type
3 audit TT 45 255 BHP. Love it.
Great to see such a variety of content on your channel, Joel. £111k RSQ8, ~£500 TT, £100k+ Range Rover, keep it up! Also, that mini sun visor above the rear view mirror, I had one on a 1.7sdi Lupo. Never had one another car and I’ll be honest I loved that!
I did not know about any of that, thanks Joel!
Joel, The higher end Ford Granadas in the 1990s had the sunvisor above the interior mirror. I found it incredibly useful when I had my Scorpio. Missed it in every car I've had since.
Great video Joel. My 94 Toyota Soarer has the middle visor also, don’t always use it but good to know they thought of it right!?
Audi made its own branded car detailing products. Interior cleaner, car wash, leather conditioner, etc. They all came in bottles that had grey plastic trim rings around the tops of the bottles that feared the same dimple design as the air vents. Even though none of their other cars had these dimples on any of their appointments, the car care products they sold reflected their design tour de force… the TT.
Great vid. I had no clue that they added the spoiler for that reason cheers foe that info
As for the round hole details they have them on the silver side parts of the cup holders if you had them installed 👍🏼
The A2 , also has the 3rd sun visor…… the recall also added a raft of other changes to make the car more stable at high speed ….
A8s have it too, D3 and D4 at least.
Citroen fitted the 3rd sunvisor to the XM which ran from 1989 to 2000. It was a great little addition stopping the sun coming through above the rear view mirror 🙂
I’m new to Audi TTs like you, I found out all of these, I bought a 180 FWD in black around the same time as you. I’ve been watching your vids I’m a new subscriber. In the back of mine I have a first aid kit and a cd multi changer. Porsches also have the 3rd sun visor except in the Cayenne it’s a 5th, the traditional visors pull out and across the top of the doors then the 3rd and 4th can replace them in the windscreen. Regarding the rear seats there is plenty of leg room up front so the rear seats can be used in a pinch (literally).
I’ve learned a lot from ParoTT Bros on YT very passionate about mk1 TTs including the window reset, radio code programming and much more.
Good video pal . Will start watching a few more .
My ‘02 Golf had that exact same visor in the middle. One thing I’ve heard is that they are to stop the glare from the reading lights reflecting off the rear view mirror. Not sure if it’s true or not. Guess it could also act as another visor to block the sun in that area
Hey Joel, love your videos! I used to drive an Audi A3 1.9 tdi 5 door, they put a middle visor on that aswell, i used to love using it to block the sun from getting in my eyes over the center mirror it was the one thing i thought, wow! they thought about this with someone of a certain height that drives these cars! :D
The third sun visor is also present on my 2008 audi 8pa a3. Very useful!
I wish we had more colors to choose from in BC, Canada. The predominant color we have is silver. Mine is silver, which does look good, but is not cheery when the skies are grey, which it is a lot.
Had a 225 Quattro coupe then a 3.2 Quattro roadster. Fantastic cars especially the 3.2 . Oh, and 5/5 for me. Keep it up Joel.
I'd forgotten about the handling recall; I seem to remember it was big news at the time. I think I prefer it without the spoiler too. I think my X reg A4 had that third visor, it rings a bell, but I'm not 100% sure🙂
Hi Joel, love this MK1 adventure. Just for info, third '' middle '' visor was present on all Mercedes W124 gens.
My 94 Honda Civic Coupe had a middle sun visor as well it was an optional extra
The two storage holes in the back are where as you said the first aid kit goes and CD multi changer goes in the other side
Another great video Joel 👍
The sunvisor in the middle is also featured in the b5 gen and golf mk4
Middle sun visor on the Mk4 golf platform is one of VWs finest hours 👌
I had a 2005 Touareg and it had 5 sun visors including the centre visor above the mirror. I used the centre visor a lot.
I was pretty sure that the centre ‘Sun visor’ was for glare from high beam lights behind you. We have one in our 2003 A2, but my 2012 mk2 TT doesn’t have it, but does have an anti glare mirror…
Mk4 golf had the same third sun visor. Great addition as there is a gap that blinds you!
Those baseball seats were made at Eissmann in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. I helped setup the factory.
Lovely facial expression in the thumbnail Joel! 😂
Great video! 😃
Joel , going back to your Z4 a few cars ago now, you fitted some new wheels to it I was wondering what model of BMW did they come off please.
The original design of the ford Sierra also had to have a redesign after it was introduced to it being "too slippery" in cross winds
They added a small moulding to the the plastic rear quater windows ,so the passing air had something to grab hold off and steady the car.
The C5 A6 had the third sunvisor. It makes sense when the sun sneaks between the rear view mirror and top of the windscreen.
The sport model came with the 3.2 style front, rear bumpers and spoiler aswell🤓
I've the soft top version and love it. Which doesn't/didn't have the rear seat, ok yes I did know one or two of the features. Overall a great motor, even more so when you take into account that it started life as a "concept" rather than regular car back in 1990 +/- at one of the [German?] Motor shows
Great video with interesting info. 👍👍👍👍👍
I didn't know any of them facts Joel...I love just watching how much you LOVE this car ....I don't think i've ever seen anyone happier with their auto purchase. And its all genuine emotion which always comes across in all your videos.
The 3rd sun visor was a common thing in premium cars in the 90's I think, I remember we had one in a 90's E class Mercedes when I was young
Glad the footage was helpful for your video 👍 cool cars the TT sport but not one I would be desperate to own (not going to go down well with the TT fans 😅)
3:50 my Mk4 golf also had a mini central sun visor much like that, I believe they shared a fair few parts
Apart from the body, pretty much the same car as a MK4 golf
I'd like to think that had this been a more expensive car (like a Porsche) that the spoiler would have been designed to retract at low speed, and only extend above a certain velocity, to retain the car's classic lines and Bauhaus design ethos. The presence of the spoiler does make quite a difference to the look of the car at the back.
There was a middle sun visor fitted to Skoda Octavia's as well 👌🏻
Fitted to vw Bora as well
@@paulcleminson7067 and probably a few other V.A.G. vehicles
How about the indicator stalk controlling the parking lights with the ignition off. The buzzing drove me mad until I sussed that one out ! 🤪
Your videos are getting better and better, Joel. Favourite car enthusiast on RUclips 👍
There are a few TTs available for sale here in Santiago, I hope to get a 3.2 by the end of September it has a pumpkin color… quite flashy !!
Never knew about the spoiler recall, super interesting - I wonder how many are without the spoiler still…
Concerning thing no. 1: Most important was the update of the traction control. You were able to refuse the spoiler, i believe.
The MK1 Skoda superb has that same small sun visor too.
Fold the back seats down and you will be amazed at the space for luggage. Golf bags can easily go in length wise and large suitcases stand up behind the drivers seat... it's a huge space !
Middle sunvisor was on my 2001 Allroad too. Very convenient.👍
Loving this
Anyone who loves the TT should know this 5 points. Mk1 TT can be cheap to buy as there are getting old and many available but if you go to Audi to maintain or repair them they can be expensive. Mine like other have a CD changer and a first aid kit in the side spaces. Also I bet you did not know they did an ABT 310 BHP sports version which I own.
Very enjoyable Joel👍
Great video I do like the TT 😊
The 3rd sunvisor was also fitted to the original audi a2 created by the same designer
The rear compartments also hold the cd changer ( nearside )
Middle sun visor also fitted to mk1 Skoda Superb. :)
My old 6n2 VW polo from the 2000 also had a 3rd sun visor. Back when VW weren’t scrimping on interior quality.
Keep up the good work too!
just to be pedantic, it's baseball glove leather which looks like a baseball glove not a baseball. that said, white leather with red stitching like a baseball would be rather interesting... fun video. thanks.
I knew all appart from number 4, was obsessed with these as a kid
3:57 is for blocking the car's lights that are driving behind you.
I owned a MK1 Skoda Octavia VRS for a few hours before the engine died, that had a central sun visor.
Shut up Joel, I knew all these things.😂 Only after 4 years of MK1 ownership though. I even have a 1/1 original special order Recaro Pole Position interior.
Golf’s had those tiny visors too Joel
Mk4 Golf’s had the middle sun visor. As did the Mercedes W124. Best invention ever!
Older Audis had the middle sun visor, I had a 2003 A3 and 2005 A8 that both had them.
Absolute classic sports cars 😊😊😊
Hi Joel. Just a suggestion but as your Copart car is a lower model you might want to try to get your hands on a 225 AWD version to do a comparison as a daily against yours. To see what the 6 speed version brings to the party. Thanks for the content. Karl
Yep, the 225 is the one. No spoiler for me 👌🏽
I knew pretty much all these things, still an interesting video though. I guess Joel was very young when these were launched so he’s only discovering these things now.
The Jaguar S Type had similar high speed issues at launch, and small flaps forward of the rear wheels were added soon after. Similar with the Ford Sierra back in the day - the rear window surrounds became more sculpted to aid high speed stability.
Also it’s annoying how manufacturers introduce nice little features such as the middle visor, then drop them on later models or even during the lifespan of a model 😬
The middle visor is also fitted to the Audi A2.
being an owner of the 225 myself I did indeed know all of this still to find something else secret and surprising about it.. and I don't mean rust or anything like that haha😂
There's a hidden feature in the climate control unit that can be used to display various data ruclips.net/video/hCAPW_wOqfk/видео.html
The mirror visor stops glare from bright headlights behind. If you notice the actual mirror hasn’t got a flick switch for auto dimming
Not so. My 2003 TT has a manual dimming switch AND the 3rd visor. It's to block sunlight over the mirror.
Did I spot those dots on the trip reset button too?
My back left side has a cd tray where you can put 5 cds in it
My old VW Polo 6 n had a sun visor above the mirror !
Amd the emergency boot release you missed in centre console
They look really derpy without a spoiler, just like the 7th gen Celica looks really weird without the spoiler.
I knew all them, including the empty CD starker in the back, also I had an A3 with the third visor
My daily is my 1999 E38 728i 200BHP 150mph 200,000 on the clock now .And the windows go up and down on the key fob very steady at 150 no spoiler need,ed ,it just waffts along at night .
There will be days in the future where the sun is just at the right height in the sky to shine through that small gap above the rear view mirror enough to partially blind you either spring or autumn i have often wondered why more cars don't have them. as one of your commenters already said there were cars in the early years that had these sorely missed IMO
I think the middle sun visor is just an Audi-ism. I've had an A4 and a A3 and both had the middle visor
I've owned my 2006 model for a year, and on mine the rear seat cubbies house a CD multi-changer and oem first-aid kit, respectively 😊
