Bravo to you both. The life on a farm, as farmers is never a walk in the park. In third grade I had a Holstein twin calf that also had to be put down due to Pneumonia. The cycle of life to those babies is never set in stone. We just do our best and continue on the next day.
Amen! You are so right.
😢It always hurts to lose an animal!, especially when they become such an integral part of our families it is the hardest part of homesteading. My heart goes out to you.
We really did have high hopes for her. It was so hard, she was just suffering so much. 😕
What a beautiful tribute to the rise and fall moments on a farm. My heart goes out to you
it always hurt even when you know its the right decision. you feel their pain.
Thank you.
I cried so hard when you have the end the suffering
Oh Monica, us too! By far the lowest point of homesteading.
So sorry! It is a part of raising animals we hop and pray to avoid but sadly it happens! Your beautiful words hit hard and made me cry remembering a calf I too lost to illness when I was a child. Never forgotten.
Thank you Gail. ♥️♥️
i am 69, grew up on a Farm / Ranch we had Chickens, Hogs, Cattle, and quail. have had to put down several animals due sickness or damage.
for me these are the worst days of farming and ranching, butcher day for me can be just as bad, but if your hungry it is a necessity.
hang in there, have been watching and would say our doing a great job. carry on farmers.
Thank you Jay, that is our focus for sure!
Man that’s so rough! It’s so hard making these decisions! ❤❤
Thank you.
You are eloquent and an amazing storyteller. And I am sorry for your loss but love how you are able to tell the story beautifully.
Thanks. It was the hardest story to tell. So many tears when we went through it, but then when we had to work out how to “tell it”, it was way harder than we thought.
I’m so sorry.
Thank you Pamela. That means a lot.
Such a difficult thing to have to do. Sorry y'all had to go through that.
Thank you. 🙏
I'm so sorry for the suffering you had to deal with. I sometimes feel sorry for the men. Thank God, that He gives them the duty and strength to do those hard things.+
Thank you Paula.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Praying for healing and comfort for you and your family.
Thank yall so much!
Thanks for sharing! You are a beautiful wordsmith! What a life you are living and teaching your children! Keep it up…through the joys and sorrows of real life!
I'm so sorry that this had to happen. My prayers are with your family. Death is hard to fully comprehend. But hope can always be found if you look for it.
Thanks a bunch. It means a lot.
So sorry for your loss. Animals are a part of our families and we care about all of them and yes, Love them. I was raised in Iowa on a dairy farm and a few times we would have to hand feed 1 of them because of different reasons and sometimes we lost them. 😢 So I feel your pain but just like you said, the Baby calf is finally at peace. Thank you for sharing this video.
Thank you so so much. It is certainly hard. But thank you!
You both did the right thing, Kelly. Pumpkin knew that she was loved. 😢❤💔🐂
Thank you Mary.

Omg the allergies today are killing me.
Beautiful video.
Absolutely.
We raised Miniature Murray Greys on our property and never had to do this, thankfully. My heart breaks for you and your family as I know how bonded we became with our cattle and I can’t imagine the sadness you must have felt to have to do this. Keep smiling xx Theresa Australia
Thank you so so much Theresa!!!
Animal husbandry is hard and often hurts, sorry y'all had to experience this.
Thank you Clint. So true
So sorry Beau and Kelly. It is never easy to lose an animal. Big or small.
Thank yall. You are so so right!
Such a beautiful and heartfelt experience. Both the beginning and ending are miracles of nature. It's easy to receive the gift of life but so hard to let that gift go. Bless you, your family and homestead.
Thank you. We need all of the blessings for sure!

Me too - so so sad but in peace now.😢
I am 58 years old. Over my life I've had to put down two of our animals and was there for my childhood German shepherd when her life contained so much pain it was the only humane choice. I cry with you as those three worst times of my life are relived. So sorry you had to go through that. 🙏🙏🙏

So, so sad. But you did the right, strong thing. 💕
Thank you Beth. It was tough for sure
What heartache, my tears are flowing. But this is a part of the cycle of life. I am grateful your husband was able to pull the trigger, and you were able to embrace pumpkin and see her peace. ❤
You are so absolutely right!
Poor little Pumpkin. You did the very best for her, praying for you all. 😊
Homestead comes with many aches and pains. Thank you for sharing the hardest part. All our love! 😎 STOC

Thank you Robin. ♥️
Awe. I’m sorry
That was haunting but beautiful. Reality is never just brightness.
Thank you….it was tough for sure.
She was a beautiful little girl 🥺
Yup, she really was. Thank you Jesse.
Sometimes being the good stewards God has instructed us to be is one of the hardest jobs we can be given. Thank you for sharing your joy and pain with us! I will pray that this next year will give us abundant weather and conditions so that we can all experience the full joy of stewardship. This was an excellent video too! You encapsulated the story and emotion so well.
Thank you. We didn’t really want to tell it, but it was good for us to get it off our chest. And maybe it allows some people to learn something. Not sure what though. Haha.
Thank you so so much!!
It even gives me a tear and I'm just a 3rd person. Idk how y'all handled this from the start of the birth to end. It shows nature of life cycle and wisdom. This is like a documentary almost kids especially living in the city where parents have government jobs. Thank you for this precious video!❤
It is very tough. And connects us with life for sure. Our kids truly understand the value of life….as well as us too!!
@@BetterTogetherLife Thank you for replying kindness❤️ I wish all the best for your family and the farm! Life learning lesson and teaching your child with wisdom is just awesome at this days!
Thank you!!! 🙏 🙂
😩 good job you two
Hard call!
The worst hard call ever. So many tears.
@@BetterTogetherLife I’m sure!!!! 😭
Yea wheather is always the factor for young animals. You have to have a barn to get them out of the cold if they are not normally in the cold. Its sad but part of farming. Just let this not go to waste and learn from everything you guys have done
I might have helped. But after some vet consultations, they said that barns can increase the risk of pneumonia. They’re just really susceptible at their young age. So I think we’ve resolved to just having spring calves who have a longer chance to mature before the temperatures go up and down.
Sooooo sad, sooooo hard😢
So so hard and sad Heather.
Hebrews 12:3
King James Version
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Gods blessings over you .
A fitting tribute and a look at some of the realities of homesteading.
Thank you Ray. This means a lot. That honestly is all we tried to do in this video….and hopefully for most of our channel.
Thank you for watching and for commenting. It brightens our day.
@@BetterTogetherLife You're very welcome.
💔
Thank you Susan.
😢😢😢
Joyce, yup. It is so so sad. 😞
It is so difficult to give this a like when my heart is breaking for y’all. My husband was raised on a farm, I was not. He has told me so many stories similar to this, and I cry every time. I have watched your channel since y’all bought this property and am amazed at all y’all have done ♥️🙏
I’m like you, feeling every heartbreak each time!
❤❤
Thank you
😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔
Yup.
😢❤
Been there many times. Never gets easier. I don't think a lot of people realize that we truly care for our farm animals.
So much!! It was the worst. We’ve been married and dating for almost 20 years. So it has been 20 years since I felt that heart break ache in my stomach.
I forgot what it felt like. It is horrible.
sad
Thanks Troy.
This is heartbreaking. Hugs to all yall striving to care for your beloved animals. Did the Vet do blood tests for momma and baby for Vitamin A deficiency? Here's a playlist on some videos that address drought which weve had here in texas and vitamin A deficiency in cows birthing cows and calf's lacking this essential vitamin. Pneumonia looks to be a multi factual cause. Winter time, needing vacinations, proper nutrition of momma before giving birth & immediately after birth nutritional needs of the baby cow. ruclips.net/p/PL9yB5uxmXWZ6vNy-jFI4X1weHsARuiHOE&si=e1nP9JdhjoovnfOa
Oh thank you!!!!! We NEED THIS!!!!
Because yes our property is almost bare of nutrients! We give them free choice minerals, but never feel confident with their nutrition.
