On a more long time game? Because of 3-min and 1-min championships he eventually plays with stronger players. That even happened in the first game of the previous video.
True, I've seen him play higher rated players than himself in tournaments, but never someone with an actual better head-to-head record. Some guys were close, like Penguingm, but this is the first time I saw someone with a 3-game edge.
These standard games are the best! I find hearing your thought process in real time to be incredibly instructive. Sometimes it's instructive for the specific position, but mostly just to hear the things you think about, see where you devote your attention, etc. Thanks Jerry!
Thank you so much for these games! My rating went up over 600 points since I started watching. Your commentary makes things seem intuitive rather than memorizing a bunch of different tactics/strategies.
Wow, very tense game, came down to the wire there. One thing I'd like to suggest though; whenever your opponent requests a rematch you seem to always ignore the request. I think it would be better just to decline immediately instead of leaving them hanging indefinitely.
I believe if your rematch offer is not accepted after 10-15 secs, move on. The opponent could be doing what Jerry was, recording or off to the bathroom or off for a smoke etc..
I know I"m late, but this is Unbelievable!!!!!!! No super tactics, no fancy stuff, nothing... Just slowly suffocating him. Also, I like how you made a "house" for yourself LOLLLLL. Bro when you said "I just want him to stay outside of my house", then the black queen quietly backed off. LMFAO. You literally made an impenetrable base. Very educational. Learned a lot from you.
Not a chess player, still like to watch chess though. I like the very few times when I think about something and find out that I'm right. And you are my favorite commentator/youtuber/instructor, so thank you for your time and effort making these videos.
Jerry, can you do a game like this against another RUclipsr such as Anna Rudolf? It would be really great for both players to make a video of the same game from their point of view
Tnx very much for new standard game Jerry!. They are my favorites :) Really missed those games, and thought maybe u gave up on them. So glad to see, u are back with this stuff. Oh and btw, really great game, u simply squeezed your opponent. Just like Aron Nimzowitsch said- restrict, block and then destroy. The point is, that when u have a big space advantage, u'll always find some tactics eventually. Really gg
I love the format -- and a very well played game, I enjoyed it a lot. Very instructive how you took ideas from other games you saw and didn't just apply them blindly, actually giving a lot of thought into the followup and consequences.
It maybe wasn't as entertaining as say Mangus tournament 30 sec games but I really enjoyed the insight on your thoughts and all the instructive comments on the way! Great video!
I prefer these longer games when you can share your thought process and play. Maybe you are not saying everything that comes through your mind, but I think this is a good point of balance. Really fast games are also fun to watch, but I imagine that you already know that people like to watch those. I would like to have a bit more of these.
Hi jerry,15+10 is better than blitz but i think 30 +10 will be ten times better than 15+10 ....for this type of commentary......by the way awesome video
That c6 move could be exploited to your demise. I glad you didn’t see it. Remember, there was pressure on the dark bishop, c6 would allow knight attack without any proper response.
Nice game and explanation, as I said many times I prefer those slower games or your analysis videos :) btw I can't understand people who play longer time controls, just to finish in a losing position with more time than they started with.
Loved this video and how it ties into AlphaZero. I’m a 1500 player who only started playing because of AlphaZero, and I’m really interested in Leela now. Will you be making more Leela videos? I don’t mean to offend human players or anything, I love all your videos.
You always seem to win the standard games. Hope you can find stronger opponents to challenge yourself . Also, you learn the most from playing against stronger players
wonderful game and video, only thing i was hoping for was to see if the d4 pawn sack was ever available for black for the 1 or 2 moves between your queen leaving d4 and the bishop occupying it
what about 12. cxd5? if he responds with Nxe5, you can dxc6, with Bxc6, Rxc6, and they are left with a hanging knight that is attacked, or instead of rook taking on c6, dxe5, and you are up a pawn, yes?
29:00 Wouldn't Rxf7 just be winning a pawn? If king takes, Qh5+ wins a pawn, and if queen takes, f4 is winning the pawn on g5 no? Or is being up a pawn not significant enough, and would lead to a draw instead?
36:06 doesnt bishop to e3 threaten the rook on d2 and a potential bishop to h6 to win the queen i think black will lose material in that line...i am sorry if i am mistaken here dont judge me i am 1400
It is really funny that a titled player can end up in a strategically lost position and the proceed to lose the game having 12 out of his initial 15 minutes still on his clock to his opponents 20 seconds. Move-so-fast-you-shock-your-opponent kind of strategy? Then proceed to play on, giving away everything like an engine trying to prevent mate?
AlphaJerry
lol
I love these standard games! :)
Agreed, I can't even watch the blitz games anymore. These standard gamed are far more instructive
yeah jerry p l e a s e do more videos like these
Same but Jerry's giving me a heartattack with that time control...
Love it. 15+10 seems perfect to express your thoughts while still having a reasonably long video
This is the first time I saw Jerry play someone who had a better head-to-head record than him.
It's difficult to find high time control games with highly rated opponents.
Certainly penguingm has a better head to head record in all time controls?
Not that I saw on the bottom of the screen. At least I don't remember having seen that.
These standard games are the best! I find hearing your thought process in real time to be incredibly instructive. Sometimes it's instructive for the specific position, but mostly just to hear the things you think about, see where you devote your attention, etc. Thanks Jerry!
Your clock management gives me anxiety
Me too! I do wonder if that's due to recording the game for this channel, or whether Jerry is always like that with his clock.
Ryan Emmett Using time is best way to play and also best way to improve.
hahaha yea that was hard to watch
sure, but he just seems sooooo casual even when there is
i definitely couldnt watch every second had to fast forward to the end
Got my heart pumping up, Jerry. Look at the time!!!
You give such clear [and calm] evaluations with your spoken thought process. Thank you so much for your teaching! You are the BEST at this.
I really appreciate the variety. It's a lot of fun to go from watching a 5 minute game, to bullet, to rapid. Great work, Jerry!
Nice game, very clear plan and well-executed, too.
Hes so calm, I`d call it chess ASMR :)
Thank you so much for these games! My rating went up over 600 points since I started watching. Your commentary makes things seem intuitive rather than memorizing a bunch of different tactics/strategies.
Wow! Great leap in rating there. Congrats!
Thank you. I still have a lot of improving to do (I blunder my queen very often:), but your videos have helped a lot.
Such a great game. Iv watched this vid like 5x over last few years. Can’t get enough of these standard games at bedtime 👍🏻
Wow, very tense game, came down to the wire there. One thing I'd like to suggest though; whenever your opponent requests a rematch you seem to always ignore the request. I think it would be better just to decline immediately instead of leaving them hanging indefinitely.
yeah jerry is the rude polite person.
I believe if your rematch offer is not accepted after 10-15 secs, move on. The opponent could be doing what Jerry was, recording or off to the bathroom or off for a smoke etc..
You mean aleph null indefinitely?
i know that comment was smarter than I am. :l
If you don’t respond, it’s a decline. That’s understandable. I didn’t see anything rude there. Further, it’s always better to analyze your games.
And the whole time I was like 'why isn't he even considering c6, is it obviously so bad?'
No, you just didn't see it haha
I know I"m late, but this is Unbelievable!!!!!!! No super tactics, no fancy stuff, nothing... Just slowly suffocating him. Also, I like how you made a "house" for yourself LOLLLLL.
Bro when you said "I just want him to stay outside of my house", then the black queen quietly backed off. LMFAO. You literally made an impenetrable base.
Very educational. Learned a lot from you.
the opponent defended so well, but the attack was just unstoppable
very well thought out game AlphaJerry!
Not a chess player, still like to watch chess though. I like the very few times when I think about something and find out that I'm right. And you are my favorite commentator/youtuber/instructor, so thank you for your time and effort making these videos.

I love these longer games where you have more time to develop and discuss your thoughts. Keep up the great work!
"Wow!"
- Jerry, after every single game
I love hearing your thought process as you play. thank you for making these!!
When Jerry's brain turns into Alpha Zero, it's really satisfying to watch.
This was so cool. Adopting AlphaZero's strategies is a great idea.
That was a great game and the timecontrol is kind of perfect. Getting every thought and its not getting boring ! Good job there
This could well be among the top ten games of Jerry. I have saved this game offline and check it out every few weeks. Jerry, the man!
More of the same please Jerry, your thought processes are very educational!
I love the long games! Very well played in this one. You had me a little scared about your time towards the end.
Definitely channeled a chill Bob Ross vibe on this one! Great video!
I was JUST thinking it's been a while since I've seen a 15/0 or 15/2 or anything like that from Jerry. Love it!
I love how you found Qxe6 so fast and it really was best move. Great game.
I love the format -- and a very well played game, I enjoyed it a lot. Very instructive how you took ideas from other games you saw and didn't just apply them blindly, actually giving a lot of thought into the followup and consequences.
Beautiful game, I think AlphaZero would be proud!
It maybe wasn't as entertaining as say Mangus tournament 30 sec games but I really enjoyed the insight on your thoughts and all the instructive comments on the way! Great video!
Wow! Excellent game! Thanks Jerry!
Hi jerry,15+10 is thousands times better than blitz..please do this more ...very knowledgeable and useful.
Man, i was looking at that c6 move for the longest time
That was just a strangling. Your opponent did well to stay on the board as long as she or he did.
Is it just me or does Jerry's voice sound even more soothing this video?
Great game Jerry, well played!
Ah the calmness of Jerry with 20 sec left is just silly, love it
man you are the Bob Ross of chess... happy pawns
I prefer these longer games when you can share your thought process and play. Maybe you are not saying everything that comes through your mind, but I think this is a good point of balance. Finally jerry ive been waitin for these
Hi jerry,15+10 is better than blitz but i think 30 +10 will be ten times better than 15+10 ....for this type of commentary......by the way awesome video
I accidentally paused the video and was wondering why jerry was so silently thinking about what move to make Lol
Welcome back standard chess!
AlphaJerry refutes Queen's indian defense >:) .
Did Jerry get a better mic? His sounding much better
sim ele ta com um setup novo
What a game jerry, thanks!
Loved that game! Fantastic!
Good Game! Was very close near the end.
Standard chess, YAY!
That c6 move could be exploited to your demise. I glad you didn’t see it. Remember, there was pressure on the dark bishop, c6 would allow knight attack without any proper response.
AlphaJerry and the Detected Zugzwang
16:54 Jerry and the blocking queen
Nice game, Jerry!
Nice game and explanation, as I said many times I prefer those slower games or your analysis videos :) btw I can't understand people who play longer time controls, just to finish in a losing position with more time than they started with.
Definitely played in the alpha style. Even the pawns on e5 and h5.
Loved this video and how it ties into AlphaZero. I’m a 1500 player who only started playing because of AlphaZero, and I’m really interested in Leela now. Will you be making more Leela videos? I don’t mean to offend human players or anything, I love all your videos.
Thanks Jerry!
Absolutely brilliant
You always seem to win the standard games. Hope you can find stronger opponents to challenge yourself . Also, you learn the most from playing against stronger players
wonderful game and video, only thing i was hoping for was to see if the d4 pawn sack was ever available for black for the 1 or 2 moves between your queen leaving d4 and the bishop occupying it
Love your chess games.
Jerry you missed a sexy move rook to G6 28:00 (if knight takes pawn takes check then ya just keep pushing that baby)
people wanted to see jerry plays with stronger opposition, he addresses it =)
Hi Jerry.. Very Nice video.. Thanks dear..
what about 12. cxd5?
if he responds with Nxe5, you can dxc6, with Bxc6, Rxc6, and they are left with a hanging knight that is attacked, or instead of rook taking on c6, dxe5, and you are up a pawn, yes?
I'd love to know how Leela or AlphaZero would evaluate this game.
Please, we want some videos of openings, you are my only source of chess learning, thanks.
Any Jerry upload day is a good day
29:00 Wouldn't Rxf7 just be winning a pawn? If king takes, Qh5+ wins a pawn, and if queen takes, f4 is winning the pawn on g5 no? Or is being up a pawn not significant enough, and would lead to a draw instead?
this game is amazing thanks :D
at 36:04,i dont see what is wrong about bishop e3 following bishop h6 if the rook move
R+N vs 2B's is pretty even I think.
This one is very very good
At 36:13 can you play Be3 attacking the rook and threatening Bh6 pinning the Queen? Awesome game all the same, Jerry!
You're a legend
Awesome game
@41:37 - after black move Rd2, Instead of Ke3 as a reply, why not Be3? Targeting the rook and soon pinning the Queen and King at h6. ^_^
Great video, however can someone explain what happened to the black pawn on g5? Around 26:10
Bilguun Myatav He captures the pawn en passant - en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/En_passant
Look at the time bars!
BRAVO
36:06 doesnt bishop to e3 threaten the rook on d2 and a potential bishop to h6 to win the queen i think black will lose material in that line...i am sorry if i am mistaken here dont judge me i am 1400
At 29:55, what if Qg6+, Kf7 ; Qxh6+, isn't it a winning position already ?
standard game from Jerry: improve your chess skills
good gamer
I think you had Qh8+ and after Ke7, Bf6#
At move 37 don’t u have Qd3 Qg8 then Ba3
how to get this arrow color
press and hold alt before making the arrow
userstyles.org/styles/158119/recolor-lichess-arrows-and-circles
Can't find it on chrome store
Do you prefer "Jzero" or "Jerryzero" from now on?
It is really funny that a titled player can end up in a strategically lost position and the proceed to lose the game having 12 out of his initial 15 minutes still on his clock to his opponents 20 seconds. Move-so-fast-you-shock-your-opponent kind of strategy? Then proceed to play on, giving away everything like an engine trying to prevent mate?
wtf happened at 26:12??? how did he go horizontally? and where did the black pawn go
When are you ever not gonna have time trouble!!
I think you missed a checkmate on move 50. Qg6#
51. Kh8
52. Qh6#
Just saw F8, nm
You would be A pawn up though
How do you change the arrow color from green to blue in Lichess?
Hold down ALT for a blue arrow, or SHIFT for a red one
Tell me what's wrong with Rook f6 at 28:10?
The move Jerry played is better and more direct. After Nxf6, exf6, it will take some time for White to open things up
