He is not violating principles, but applyies the one which fits. The fitting principle was that the king needed protection and that was just given in the center. The other principles, to castle did not work. His rooks played there.

Arjun quickly becomes world no 2 by beating everyone else. But Magnus shows no matter who is world no 2, the gap between world no1 and 2 is a few light years as always. Magnus just obliterated Arjun to oblivion here. When the gap between the best and second best player in the world is this huge, the role of other players in a competition basically becomes just to fill in the numbers. I am a FIDE player from the late 90's early 2000's. Peak 2382. I came across Magnus in an online blitz game in 2001. DO NOT CHALLENGE THIS MAN. He is actually insanely good at this game. He beat me handily like 8 times in a row and eventually, I gave up. I just wanted a draw but it's close to impossible. He is computer-like scary accurate and deadly. My friends and I tried trash-talking him but he either did not see it or didn't respond and continued to outplay me on the board over and over. He is next level. Do not challenge him you'll lose every time. I couldn't believe how strong he was the moves he plays are so strong.

Could it be possible to show the ratings related to the format of the game instead ? These are rapid games so rapid ratings would be more relevant

There was no greater gap between number one and number than when Fischer was world number one. And it took 20 years before anyone reached Fischer's rating. Fischer still and always the GOAT. I also predict that Magnus will be the last player to dominate chess.
