I bought my CVA Optima V2 nitride in Realtree green, with a 3-9x40 Bushnell on clearance at Wally World for $60 in 2018 only a few months after it came out. Still carry the receipt in my wallet for those times when I'm accused of being FOS. Truth! 💯

I picked up a optima v2 lr with the brown nitride finish and a camo thumb hole stock at Walmart for around 427. It came with a konus 3x9 scope with a bdc reticle. I sighted it in this evening and I’m impressed. 100 yards hitting a quarter sized magic marker dot on some cardboard. Using 100grains pyrodex pellets and 295gr powerbelt hollow points. Thanks for the review/testing I was going for the wolf but glad I went for the optima good luck this season and thank you for your service!

I have the same rifle Optima V2 nitride, konus scope. I use 90 gr Blackhorn powder, Winchester 209 primer, and 300 gr. XTP/Harvester sabot. Killed four deer so far.
FYI the scope mount is not loctited! CVA confirmed this to me in a email, they don't use loctite on the scope mount screws. After the season is over might want to do that so you don't have any accuracy issues. Just a heads up! I really like my gun as well, mainly bought it for late season, cold wet weather hunting.

I've got the Optima V2 with the same scope and thumbhole stock, which I really like. Seems very accurate with everything I've put through it. Only comment I can make and not to be critical is like I used to tell my dad. You're sort of aiming it to death. lol. I bought the Blackhorn breech plug, but I've never even seen a can of the mythical Blackhorn powder, and I guess the price is ridiculous on it if you can find it. I've got the Pyrodex and Tripple 7 Firestar pellets and it shoots fine with either one, but I prefer the Firestar pellets as they aren't quite as dirty as Pyrodex. I have no problem blowing up milk jugs at 200 yards with mine. That was with the Hornaday SST 250 grain pills. Shoots the power belts fine as well, but I do get quite a bit more drop with them. I've also got a CVA Wolf with open sights and it's a fine little brush gun and much lighter and handier to carry. (Kills em just as dead).

I just bought the CVA Wolf and after sighting in 5 shots using the White Hots the breach plug was pretty nasty. The other thing I noted was the barrel and using sabot style projectile by Hornady. I certainly think pure lead is the way to go, but maybe when I get solvent to clean the bore that will change my mind, as I have read that it will remove plastic and powder after a few passes. Certainly I agree with The Hunting Public that in the field you should clean after every shot, or at minimum every two if you needed a quick follow up shot. I'm hoping to get one with the bow as always but now I have a Muzzle and the 1 shot one kill still makes it challenging and I would be proud of that too!

I just ordered one of these Optima to get an early start on deer season while the rut is still going on! However, how do you manage noise, such as the practice of flicking your ramrod down 3X after seating, to see if you get the "ting" sound and the bounce from a properly-seated bullet? Is that a luxury for just the range? Can an experienced muzzleloader manage the series of steps in the complete dark, by feel, such as by using tubes that contain pellets + bullet?

Get some black horn powder and a breech plug the run from 30 to 40 dollars you don't have to clean every shot and a lot less smoke you will tighten those groups right up

Did you make any adjustments to scope to compensate for bullet drop at 150 and 200 yds? Thank you

Pioneers would have laughed at you for using a scope on a short range weapon such as that.
