Absolutely, the debloat is more or less to free up a bit of extra ram/space and to make windows feel more "snappy" the debloat tweaks obviously aren't required but I know a lot of people don't like any sort of bloatware on their devices.
Didn’t help me one bit bios 319 is killing 30w turbo mode. Interesting enough I noticed 25w mode had better performance but still not what I’d like. I believe there’s a bug relating to the eGPUs. Rog ally most likely believes the device to be connected to an external unit and diverts power to the CPU to avoid bottlenecking with a more powerful gpu. Just my theory right now I need to test it more but with red dead 720 mid-high mix I got 50fps average even in Saint Denis which was a beautiful experience. Plugged in turbo tanked performance to around 35-38fps. Gpu seemed to fluctuate in clock speeds and quite dramatically at that. I was bouncing from 1800mhz to 2500mhz standing still. Very weird experience. Again unplugged seem to park the cpu and gpu in optimal ranges so they didn’t hog tdp.
@@mikehatten5738 very interesting, I would love to get my hands on the XGMobile to do some testing as well, unfortunately it is still well over 1,000 dollars in Canada, as well they are not readily available.
@@DONUT-FPV calculated risk. Your computer isn't immediately thrown into a vulnerable state. This is just another layer of device security. However, as long as you are not downloading torrents, or downloading from shady sites or installing custom drivers you should be okay. Honestly just go through your programs in settings and uninstall all of the stuff you don't want from there. There isn't too much "bloatware" within windows itself these days and all of the bloat from Asus is light and reasonable imo, as well as necessary if you want the intended experience.

Thanks for another great tutorial video man. This may be a dumb question, but if I make these changes and then upgrade to a 2TB Nvme, will all of this automatically reinstall when I recover the OS? Also, do I need to keep this installed and periodically run it due to windows updates?

@@WinDeckTech I found out how to change it thanks. Just one question. The suggested example of fan curve is intended for the normal manual mode or the Max manual mode?
The default fan curve has been and should be okay on performance mode. I would suggest avoiding using turbo mode and set your own profile up, with a custom curve. As long as your fans are at 70-80% at 80 degrees, it should be okay.
Really good video. Thanks! If I may suggest, could you do one running Ally on dock mode and showing performance in 1080 and 1440p monitors to assess the option of replacing gaming laptop by the Ally?
For sure I can do that. I don't know if I would suggest 1440p for many games, although some with FSR/TSR could be doable. Doom eternal with DRS comes to mind but that's not a true 1440p either. I'll add that to the list though. Very interesting idea. Thanks!
With these custom OS solutions, they are "better" however they have a tendency to break important things. A lot of those break game pass functionality. I would never personally recommend anyone go that route as it's always best to have "official" support. As well, the privacy concerns with the custom OS are too great in my opinion (I'd rather have microsoft with my data than some random Joe Blow)
@@WinDeckTech tiny might be an exception but ghost specter let's you re-enable anything you want which I've not had to do in the ghost toolbox(although I don't use gamepass), and security "specialists" on youtube have checked over specter os with nothing found. @@radioactivebob1 absolutely re:privacy bring dead. Some people (weirdly) are more comfortable with big tech having their info as opposed to some random person they know nothing about. It's been a coincidence for me. The SD cards stopped working and I had no choice but to factory reset my ROG Ally. After the reset, the games ran better.
Interesting. One of my SD cards is not working, all others are
yes yes the video was great and usefull i did my part (sub and like) i am new to gaming handeheld got my ally one wheek and mysteamdeck three the shit is with the ally all those settings and tweaks i got the learn and do . with the steamdeck it's way more simpel . anyway i got it now and i gonna make it work thx to channels like yours !!!! your content is great you get there
Thanks for the kind words! let me know if you need any help. Fortunately the latest updates from ASUS made the Ally a lot better/easier to use as well!
Error prompt out when i wanted to configure the bloatware section . What do I do now ?
Run it as admin if you haven't
Core Isolation seems to make the biggest difference.
Isn't core isolation being off putting the Ally at risk of viruses/hackers ?
@@mikehatten5738 very interesting, I would love to get my hands on the XGMobile to do some testing as well, unfortunately it is still well over 1,000 dollars in Canada, as well they are not readily available.
@@DONUT-FPV calculated risk.
Your computer isn't immediately thrown into a vulnerable state. This is just another layer of device security.
However, as long as you are not downloading torrents, or downloading from shady sites or installing custom drivers you should be okay.
Obviously with anything there is a risk involved, so it is on the user whether or not they are okay with the risks.
For what it's worth I've run it off on all of my devices and my identity hasn't been stolen, yet.
When i get mine i will first just uninstall bloatware until i get used to my rog ally, because i am scared im gonna do something wrong, + im not seeing other people doing the exact same thing, so im a bit scared ngl.
Honestly just go through your programs in settings and uninstall all of the stuff you don't want from there. There isn't too much "bloatware" within windows itself these days and all of the bloat from Asus is light and reasonable imo, as well as necessary if you want the intended experience.
When I right-click the High Search and Remove… under Bloatwear, I get a message that says “unhandled exception has occurred in your application…” not allowing me to go to the next step to uninstall all of those extra apps.
Try running it as administrator
@@WinDeckTech will do. Thanks for the reply!
Great video, thanks! After following your instructions BloatyNosy uninstalled the Xbox app and MyASUS app so I had to reinstall, is that normal? Thinking I might undo BloatyNosy’s changes in case anything important was unintentionally uninstalled/disabled but if what I experienced is normal I might keep the changes
That shouldn't have happened. If you leave the bloatware checked off it will take out what it deems bloatware.
Edit:had it delete my asus once
When I right click the bloat ware and press configure this app I get an error message
Try running as administrator, make sure to right click the top one not the bottom one.
I'll have another debloat tutorial coming Friday hopefully with the CTT debloat
@@WinDeckTech I got it. When I extracted the zip file instead of running it directly it worked.
Do you have to run this script just after Asus Cloud Recovery? Or do I first have to do all the Windows and Asus updates and run the script after that?
I would do all of the updates (myasus + windows) then run this
@@WinDeckTechWill do, thanks!
@Windeck Tech thank you for this video, this dramatically improved the performance on my ally. You deserve more subscribers. Thank you again.
I assume Bloatynosy will just skip over any of the things you have selected but have already deleted manually yourself?
Yeah, sometimes it will give an error (which you can check at the top above the fix box) if it doesn't detect the software
Would changing my page file help me with games like Warzone or Forza 5 which tend to use a lot of ram?
I wouldn't recommend it, I would up the vram in bios
@@WinDeckTech I’ve already used 6 or 8gb of VRAM but that only consumes your regular RAM so when the game run i still get error messages saying i don’t have enough RAM
after i went back to 317 from 319 bios, i cant acess the core isolation option.
You can revert bios on the Ally?
the only thing that popped up for me that i wasnt sure of was when i went to apply the fix. it had a error message saying something about EXPLORER.exe wasnt installed and couldnt uninstall it. I just clicked ok and it seemed like everything else was fine. But i guess im not 100% sure if all the rest of the fixes applied or not
So it did work. but it uninstalled a couple things i wasnt expecting it to. like the my asus app and the xbox app. but everything else is fine
You can grab myasus from their site and I show how to reinstall Xbox and gaming services in my newest vid.
Could put its for Windows 11 in the title...
Should still apply for Windows 10, if you're on it.
Well Done Mate!!!
When I right click the HIGH in bloat section, it gives me an error message and won’t let me advance to the next screen. Is there a way to make it work? 8:33
Try opening the program as admi
Worked. Thanks for replying.
Thank you so much for this video! It really improved my Ally's performance 😅
Thanks for another great tutorial video man. This may be a dumb question, but if I make these changes and then upgrade to a 2TB Nvme, will all of this automatically reinstall when I recover the OS? Also, do I need to keep this installed and periodically run it due to windows updates?
If you reinstall 2tb, it will reinstall everything.
You shouldn't need to keep it on, but you don't install it. It is a portable file. Maybe once in a blue moon if you notice things come back.
@@WinDeckTech Perfect thanks again!
I used debloat but now the buttons for armory crate and command center don’t work anymore. Please help me
Redownload armoury crate here
rog.asus.com/gaming-handhelds/rog-ally/rog-ally-2023/helpdesk_download/
@@WinDeckTech I already did that and nothing worked even after I restarted
@@WinDeckTech never mind, I just had to update the Bios to 319
Also, since we have access to the asus drivers etc, what about wiping and installing ghost spectre or tiny11 for less bloat?
I've not tried custom windows installs yet. I will look into that in the future.
Accidentally left that one check box for the "apps" and it did not uninstall the asus armory crate. Just fyi
Thanks for that, interesting. When I did this it completely fubar'd everything.
@@WinDeckTech interesting. I just picked up my ROG today and following the video. Wish I could explain why my experience was different. Appreciate the video for sure, I knew I'd have to debloat but it's nice to have a guide.
@@WinDeckTechant to follow up. It removed MyAsus but not armoury crate. The debloater removed the extra unwanted apps but they came back a reboot or two later. Will watch the new video when I get home I saw you uploaded an updated guide. Thanks
@@shredwerd009 shouldn't have issues with the new one
funny part steam deck dont need debloat lol
If you install Windows on it, you do.
For some reason after doing this, I started getting screen tearing in Elden ring vs before i never did. Any reason why possibly?
Strange.
Set your vsync on if you're going over 60 or 120fps. There shouldn't be anything causing that
@@WinDeckTech Elden ring caps out at 60fps, and is forced enabled. Docked or handheld mode still causes the issue weirdly enough.
@@Leon-ny8ul right my bad, I forgot that I had to patch it to get it over 60
@@Leon-ny8ul that's is super strange. Full screen exclusive as well as windowed?
I appreciate the help, ally runs smooth, i did had to increase the page filing higher tho, diablo and sf6 was crashing. Definitely subbed for more content 👌🏾
Check out my newest vid with better tweaks

Thank you for this. Aprreciate you!
Very good video! In what BIOS version are you doing it?
319, I recommend going to 319 (or latest)
I need to do this
This was a great Video. Super helpful.
Goodmorning, this is really a great viodeo. I just wanted to ask if you could show us clearly how to set the Fans curve correctly since its not shown in the video. you have some screenshots?
Will do!
As long as your fans are at 70-80% at 80 degrees, it should be okay.
new sub here. thanks for all the info
Thank you
Amazing tutorials !! gonna try it
that absolutely what every ROG Ally owner should watch , thanks dude 😍
Really good video. Thanks!
If I may suggest, could you do one running Ally on dock mode and showing performance in 1080 and 1440p monitors to assess the option of replacing gaming laptop by the Ally?
For sure I can do that.
I don't know if I would suggest 1440p for many games, although some with FSR/TSR could be doable. Doom eternal with DRS comes to mind but that's not a true 1440p either.
I'll add that to the list though. Very interesting idea. Thanks!
Going to test this out soon, promise.
Just wipe the OS and install something like tinyOS / ghost specter os, personally on ghost specter myself without issues.
But in the end it's no more private than Microsoft having your data for it to be sold off or leaked, Personally I don't care privacy is dead and I only use the ally as a gaming device either way, even removed windows defender as it's purely for games / emulators.
This was my question/thought too… did you get all the drivers needed from the asus site then for controller support, etc?
@@radioactivebob1 absolutely re:privacy bring dead.
Some people (weirdly) are more comfortable with big tech having their info as opposed to some random person they know nothing about. Obviously, again, this is down to the user comfort level.
Another "pro" move is to use the windows 10 LTSC version, however support for that ends in 2025 I believe with extended support lasting until 2027.
Thank you for the effort of making this guide. Gonna wonna add a gonna wonna do counter 😅
😂 can turn it into a drinking game if you like.
I rly had that in mind while writing. 😮
Woooo thanks man, been waiting on this one 💯
