I just return my ally for a new one since se card reader died I will now run nothing but manual mode with your tan curves I also installed a small thermal pad between the reader and the heat pipe hopefully this also helps. Thanks for your tutorial 👍

@@cppctek I just now got my Z1E & put a 2TB SSD. So working on all the debloating, performance enhancements, emulating (Emudeck), Launcher setups (Playnite). Among other stuff 😅
Another great video. Onedrive really does use an insane amount of RAM. We use it at work, and on my work Mac sometimes it's using 1.5G. That's just nuts.
That should definitely always be disabled on any device used for gaming.

thanks to your tips I can play Just Cause 3 on battery at lowest wattage 720p with 40fps average.
Now I can play the game on the go for closer to 4 hours. The game runs on 7-9 watts and the fan curve I use keeps the ally COOL, I was surprised it actually cooled my fingers.
For those interested in playing this gem of a game on the go with console like performance:
fullscreen: ON
Vertical sync: OFF
Anisotropic Level: 2X
Resolution: 1280x720
Anti Aliasing: FXAA
Texture Quality: Medium
Water Detail: Medium
Water Tessellation: OFF
LOD Factor: Low
Shadow Quality: Medium
SSAO: OFF
Motion Blur: OFF
Edge Fade: OFF
If you do everything the King says in the video you will get 80fps averge on battery but you will use 40W on average
If you make another profile and adjust the fan curves at 100 when more than 70° and adjust the watts to lowest on everything you will get 40 fps and 8W on average.
Also when making power profiles make sure to disconnect the usb c cable if you want to make an on the go profile, I noticed that when you connect the usb c cable the profiles you made while using it are different when you arent using it (the watts change since it does not have full capability)
Kind of makes me wonder if Asus can get the software in place to run better at the lower wattage go get more performance closer to steam deck. I’m sure it is there just need AMD and Asus to bring it with driver update and software updates

I just installed a debloated ISO, brought services down to 50. Battery life and perf improved but the biggest difference was latency, things feel so responsive
Heck yeah man. What iso did you use ? Are you in my discord ? Def join and share I’d love to test it. I’m using ghost spectre and fully debloated and tons of latency tweaks and it’s a beast but I’d love to test any and everything that comes up

I've tested many ISO's in my life, and I like to look for a good balance between program compatability & debloat, which is why I was using Ghost Spectre for so long (its good) however I switched to another ISO as it removes more processes and everything that I personally use still works on it.
You are amazing ! I was able to improve my performance quite a bit following your video. Have you tested 3.19 vs 3.17 in all games? Some games like Diablo 4 seem to be better in 3.17. specifically for elden ring have you seen any difference?
I haven’t tested those games but asus responded and shared those have been fixed with latest drivers and bios and all the people I know as well with a tuned system it’s def the same on each bios. Also I notice a weird issue with bios sometimes needing to be reinstalled and it works better. I gotta do a new video on it.

So basically, I returned the unit 3 times this one was packaged different and other ones. It still had the plastic. You know when you open your rabbit. But on top of that, the when you open, it had a cardboard box with extra.
I wonder if this one is, but he didn't because this was running really fast and very responsive.
Just got the ally, ordered an SSD luckily saw your video before-hand about the heatsink. I ended up ordering 5mm tall ones cos I got them before my SSD and I was like no fucken way is that fitting in the ally. But when I watched the rest of your video I realised it's quite recessed. Followed your debloat video too it's a decent uplift and excited for more tips. What do you think to changes like turning off core isolation and CPU boost?

@@cppctek For now I created a macro via Armoury Crate for the WinKey+PrintScreen shortcut and this seems to be working just as smooth.
I just noticed. I picked up the third one now I Best Buy and I noticed something that the package is different. Third one is a charm. This was seems to be running faster and better and more efficient.
The packaging is different when you open it. The other ones were wrapped in a plastic when I opened it but the third one now that I returned from Best Buy which I got now has a carbon box inside when you open it with the instructions inside.
I noticed variable refresh wasn't selectable in the same setting menu as "optimizations for Windows games" for you. It is on mine
I noticed a great input lag of analogues... For example in fifa 23 if I try to move quickly between the menus (right and left) often does not take any movement, or only one
Quite a bit of people have issues with that across all computers. It’s not optimized well at all

Check out the reviews and videos on the game in general you may find someone who found a fix. Unfortunately I have heard some rough stories with fifa and all ea sports games

Maybe. I’ve been sick in bed since. I’m struggling with my kidneys and I haven’t even had the energy to try to chop it up and edit it. I am going to try this week to go live again and do a better job with being more organized as well. I have had some people make complaints saying they lose functions and had issues when tuning they’re device and quite honestly I’ve got a ton of insight of why this could happen but why it also won’t happen if people are just careful what they do. Too many folks skip steps or just don’t read carefully and bam. Also I’m still working on the dock video as well. Blah. I’m just so low on energy and holding back the puke and sleeping all the time is rough lol.
But thanks a ton for watching the live and hanging around it means the world that people wanna hear me ramble on and Share my experiences. Hopefully people can learn from them and use them to make better experiences for themselves.

I’m having issues running XCOM: Enemy Unknown on my Ally. I get to the first mission and it is acting like it runs out of memory and either completely crashes, or temporarily locks up and runs for a couple of seconds before crashing out. Going to try the steps in this video to see if I get different results.
try lowering all the textures and graphics settings just for kicks n giggles. you maybe shocked some games during a random scene could push way more textures that require more vram.

Hey man , I used the manual fan curve you have, it’s the same for while it’s plugged, it is keeping it cool at 69C (nice) but it sounds like a jet plane , is this okay for longevity for the fans to run that fast ? I’m new to the handheld pc stuff so I’m just kinda wanting to make sure
Yeah the fans are extremely well built but also cheap and super easy to swap if so. Just two screws hold them down. There like 15$ each if you hunt around but I’ve got a ton of other mod vids you should check out and keep an eye on. I think you’ll like my next cooling video I am editing now

How do you run a game when the screen turns black while the sound is still going on. Afterwards, the game crashes stating “Unreal Engine is exiting due to 3D3 being lost”. Any advice on how to fix this problem? I’d greatly appreciate it 🙏🏻

So I followed the tutorial, but now my ACSE Command Center and Real Time Monitor don’t overlay my current game that I am playing.
If I were to push the command center button, it does open but only behind the game I am playing. So the only way to actually see it is if I minimize my current game. This is the same for Real Time Monitor… which is very annoying.
Does anyone have some tips I can try?

Thank you so much for this, any chance you could share your custom fan curve again, I noticed on bios 322 fan 1 at the 60 degree will automatically jumped to 74% and wont go down any lower
I’ll make a new video this evening for what I’m using on 322. So far it’s the same curve and also the auto curve is good to me

Depends heavily on the game. The ones I play never use over 4gb with the graphics settings I use

More ram in my games is better then more vram. Don’t confuse the two. Don’t overthink it. Just try it yourself and see how it goes

So I followed these steps and now my Armoury Crate and Real Time Monitor appear only behind my current game. I have to minimize my game to see this info now. Any tips?

did everything in this video, but now for some reason when i try to launch a game it crashes mid way through the boot up... not sure what to do
i also no longer have the ability to use the right thumb stick as a mouse anywhere other than the desktop

@@abdullahalajmi1313 i think some games depend on certain things and its possible we've removed those certain things when we did this. unfortunately i had to wipe and restore mine. 😮💨

Is this still relevant with the newest bios update?
All ally’s can benefit from tuning because it’s windows that you’re really needing to tune to save some ram. The later bios don’t really lower the ram usage.

Does disabling CPU boost help wiht performance in your experience? I noticed a drop in temperature without affecting performance but was wondering
I have all power throttling options disabled. I don’t even have the cpu boost section

i stand corrected, i run at 31 with armory and steam running , but that's without any of the background applications manually shut off.
