This by far was the TRUE version of XP. I've been using it for many years on various systems. The latest version includes the POSREADY updates registry tweak which is awesome. Many themes installed along with built in drivers, tools, tweaks, fixes and etc. If you have a modern-ish PC that's 32bit, give this version a go. Awesome video!

The best source is ThePirateBay. if blocked by your ISP, head to kproxy . com then type 'proxybay . tv' in the url box on the site, choose your TPB mirror and look for a user known as 'LuxLOL', his latest release that I know of is september 2015, but I still recommend it since XP basically doesn't need anymore improvements for further relases. My school used to have these, unofficial Windows versions.
Now they run a genuine Windows 8/10.
They probably did better with the hacked versions. I can't stand 10. It turned me to Linux full time. Never looked back.

Mic Mal I still can't get into Linux. I dual boot Ubuntu 16.04 and Win10, but haven't been on Ubuntu since I installed. I think Windows 10 is the best version yet.
Windows 10 totally ruined my Windows 8 tablet which I had enjoyed. So much for "free upgrade". I've been totally off anything MS ever since.
Leaving my utter distaste for anything Microsoft (Including the ruination of Skype) aside, and also forgetting about the lack of security, as a basic OS Windows 10 is just okay (and I'm being nice), but I cannot stand how it's set up. I can't find anything on it. Those freakin' panels drive me insane.
The endless "updates" which my little tablet cannot process, go on forever. I guess it's okay for a desktop, but my tablet can't download them at all. So it's not usable and yet there's nothing wrong with the tablet itself.
Mic Mal I too have a Windows 10 tablet. It's much better on desktops, but know that you can get rid of the panels and shrink the start menu to normal. It also has a quick search by just typing in what you need. The updates I believe can be modified to not pop up for everything, I dislike them too.

XP Black edition was a pretty good shot at modifying XP. My experience with it was pretty good.
Also let's not forget some of the LastXP iterations. (although v20 screwed up the WGA stuff,but that's an easy fix)

I remember as a teen getting one of those "black editions" on an old laptop that had been replaced. It had IE, but it defaulted the homepage to Zone94. I got a mashup between a Droppin Plates and Gangnam Style, called "Droppin Gangnam Style". Still have that song.

just to mention if you uncheck k lite codes pack it will install wmp11 if you unchek Mozilla it will install ie 8 full. updated and if you uncheck 7 zip. it will leave windows zip from the menu

ok, so, I actually use the Black Edition, on a Thinkpad T400 (that i Basically bought for old games and small internet stuff), and well, it's pretty good, no bullshittery like the gold ones, but the only thing that I miss is using 4GB of ram... The Black Edition that I used was a 32 bit edition (I saw somewhere a 64 bit one), and one tip you DO NEED to customise the system, bc even though that it removes a lot of old features and unused programs, there may be some programs that you dont use

If you want, do a video on the XP inexperience patcher, but be warned, it is often misdetected as a virus because it modifies XP system files.

Why do a completely fresh install for a single theme when you can just keep your current Windows XP OS and use something like xpize or zune?

This edition looks nice, but I regard it as suspect because Firefox's home page is preset to a clickbait advertising site owned by the author (linked to several more similar sites). I imagine it didn't come up on yours because your networking isn't set up.
Some of the included utilities are worth checking out, tho.

I run ubuntu based OS on both my laptops. I'd like to dual boot this on one of them. I was wondering if anyone had tried that before I took the plunge.
yeah you could dual boot with this making xp handle games am guessing but in which case if that is what you are going to do try using a cracked win 7 that way you can still play current games
I hardly doubt that Windows Genuine Advantage is still active on XP, as attempting to go to the webpage related to WGA from Microsoft isn't even possible anymore. (4:01)

Michael I am running inmto abso lute DISASTER every time I try to set some old version of Windows in VMWare! I always get the error message saying on a black screen that it couldn' t find the boot medium. Can you please help me with this?
I don't know if you read commends on these old videos, but I was wondering if you could help me guide me through the installation process. I try installing it when I'm greeted with a black screen later and stuck. Is this normal? Using VMware.
Have you taken a look at IslamicXP. It is an Islamically modified version of the Windows XP made in Egypt. It replaces the startup and shutdown sounds with Arabic music.
question if i were to transfer the download file to a flashdrive and put it on an actual xp machine would it work?
I installed it with VMWare and it made me use a key in the setup. ;c
BUT! I didn't pay for the key, I got it from a video. So I'm still satisfied. :D
Guess the next Windows XP to be tested will be XP Performance Edition (and there is also a Windows 7 Performance Edition).... =D

I installed it on my secondary basement computer and it has worked beautifully so far and it seems that its not as dodgy as XP gold...

Has anyone gotten Directx 9 to run on this OS? I got steam to install and downloaded and installed 9.0 from Microsoft and installed it but when I launch a game it says it still needs it.
Like where? I mean I did manually install 9.0c to the OS drive inside the VM. I'm wondering if its due to being virtual instead of a physical. I really want an xp dual boot because I like playing old pc games (XP) and some don't run on the newer OS'. Directx is kind of a necessity otherwise its useless to me.
No such luck there. Besides I travel to much to lug around a desktop.
okay for starters you need to rollback your graphics card driver to the last xp driver which is likely going to be found under legacy by now. Secondly download the DX2009 runtime from microsofts website and lastly steam itself is only going to support xp for a short time longer. Bottom line try the above steps if not just download one of the many black editions of windows 7 or windows 7 lite

There is but it has a black windows 7 theme and doesn't come with any programs pre-installed like this one does.

Well, I put Black on my computer and it was an easy install. But it wouldn't let me download certain programs. I was getting some kind of kernel 32 dll error. So I got rid of it. Useless.

This edition does have the POSReady update patch, meaning that you are still able to get official updates from Microsoft until 2019, just like the Gold edition.
I'm developing an online operating system called MDOOS (Material Design Online Operating System) or MOS for short, it is mobile device comparable and is still window based and runs right in your web browser. I'm on my second build and am trying to flush it out and make it more efficient. It will be usable in about a month but it surely won't be finished. It isn't meant to have any ground breaking features, its just an experiment see the capabilities of web apps.

Wish you would have scrolled through the "Includes" list and add-ons and other information much more slowly. I'd like to know if this mod includes SATA drivers. Can't find this particular version on the web anymore so I'm unable to view the list myself.

Not very. This version in the video, at least doesn't include cracked commercial applications that cost money, such as WindowBlinds for example. It, for the most part, includes only free, open source applications.
I wonder if there is a Windows 7 Black Edition! Lol! I could use that to just play some silly Steam games without dealing with Wine on Linux.
Matoro Zeliph there might be one. I've used the black edition in the video before in a VM. I might use it on a old PC that I won't connect to the internet, but at least to the network, so I can copy games that I own, of course, to it. I recommend it for a dedicated XP era gaming rig, as long as it's not online.

Yes but I wouldn't recommend entering banking info or sensitive information into any text fields. Windows XP is mainly for retro gaming / old software that lacks compatibility with W10 and above.
