Thanks for the insights! Very helpful 🙌🏻
Hi, firstly, what great content you are producing, best i have seen on youtube yet and ive gone through many hours of fba videos. Im excited to say i have my first shipment on way to amazon. Now im making sure my listing is 100%. Just like another subscriber of yours i dont seem to have a subject matter. Only title, bullet points and search terms to get keywords inserted. Checking helium 10 reverse asin my competitors have 1000+ keywords and my asin shows 300+. Why have i not got subject matter tab? How can i compete with anyone? Thats it! Keep up the good work!
For competitors trademarked brand name keywords: you can't put these in your backend or anywhere else on your listing BUT you can bid on these same keywords in your PPC (of course if they are relevant and have a potential to sell your product).
Yes, you can! Targeting "weaker" competitors' product pages can be a very profitable strategy.
@@SumnerHobart yes I had an exact question about this! The original keywords I want to rank under when I did my product research unfortunately have a brand name like "nike shoes" but under this there are both nike shoes for example and other adidas and generic shoes. I wanted to bring in a shoe related product under this keyword initially, but when I was doing a reverse asin search on helium 10 to find out backend keyword list for my private label product using the nike branded asins and other generic asins under "nike shoes" to create a list for my backend terms, ofcourse "nike shoes" came up...for example...now can I use "nike shoes" in my backend search terms as it has a brand name, or is it illegal? only if I use it in my backend search terms can I be able to rank under it, but im reading mixed messages on its legal and some saying its not. what should i do? I see other products under "nike shoes" doing it and they are also not nike and they are running fine for years but im afraid I might get suspended in the future, please tell me im a beginner! you said you cnanot use it in your backened search terms but can run ppc ads, but won't they be very costly in the long run?
fantastic video
Really amazing video. Thanks
My listing does not have "subject matter" available under the keywords section. Is subject matter no longer a thing? Or only available for certain listings? Thanks!
Hi Susan, you are correct - Amazon has been removing that field for most product categories.
That was amazing. Thank you!
So glad to hear Karen!!
Thank you for this.
You got it Christina!
Would love to take a look at that SellerTools research, do you have the link handy?. Thanks and great video! keep it up
Hi Jonatan! Yes, the content I'm referring too was actually posted in their "FBA Kings" Facebook group so I can't link directly but it should be fairly easy to fin once you join.
Does it possible to write weed , cannabies, etc, on amazon search terms
what about putting certain phrases in your search terms? Would you still not put any duplicates?
In some cases I do but generally no. I use/ repeat my top-searched phrases in my bullets and sometimes in the alt text of my A+ content.
Hello Sumner. I understand that you should not repeat keywords used in your title in your backend. I'm wondering if it is ok to use the same keywords in the bullets and backend. For example, if I have the words "table cloth" in my bullets can I use the table and cloth in my search terms? I am having a hard time writing my bullets without repeating phrases from the backend. My email is general@coverfect.com if you would be ok emailing me. I'm not sure if i'd see the response here. Thank you.
Thank you for your knowledge! That really helped me out right now! I do have a question. Would my ppc campaign include those keywords included in my title, bullet points and backend keywords as well or would they be different keywords?
Awesome to hear Tony and yes, how you optimize your Amazon listing will directly affect your Amazon PPC results. You can bid on whatever keywords you like with Amazon PPC but if these keywords you're bidding on are in your listing AND your listing organically generates sales for those keywords this will improve your PPC performance.
Sumner Hobart - Amazon FBA Thank you!! In in my first month and my rankings are up there. I’m ranking number 1,2,3 and so on in a few categories. After watching your videos I realized my titles, bullet points, description and backend keywords needed revision. Now that I fixed that I hope my Acos will go down since I am at 90% Acos 😭. Is this normal in your first month?
Maybe update this video? None of my listings have a subject matter input field. However, based on my analysis Amazon has still ranked me well for the majority of my keywords anyway.
Hey Eddy! Certain listings still have the subject matter field. If you have it - use it. If not then just ignore it and focus on search terms. Planning on a few update vids.
Nice content, but next time make sure to turn on camera’s auto focus 😊
Hi Sumner,
Thanks for the great video. Was unaware of the importance of 'subject matter' back end search terms. I had a few follow up questions. Since there are 5 lines for subject matter 50 characters each do you use one search term per line or as many search terms as you can fit in the 50 character limit per line? Also are 'intended use' 'target audience' and 'other attributes' areas to put keywords/phrases as well? Thanks for your help.
Hi Justin and great to hear you found the video valuable! If you have the 'subject matter' fields for your listing include as many words per line as possible to reach the 50 char/ line max. For the other keyword slots I usually leave these blank because 1. I haven't found much ranking benefit if any 2. By selecting 'adult' we actually had some of our products flagged as adult products so it can actually be a liability. Just fill out search term and subject matter field if you have them and you're good-to-go.
@@SumnerHobart Thanks Sumner
Just selected a product using your Udemy course. How are you getting around the 50 units a day limit? What strategies are you using?
Fantastic video! I have a couple of your Udemy courses on PPC and apply your principles. Love your work!
John, awesome to hear and thank you so much for your kind words!
@@SumnerHobart One question I wanted to ask regarding keywords in the listing. If you are running an exact match ppc campaign containing medium or long-tail keywords, how important is it that the keywords in that order exist in your listing? Eg If I have an exact match ppc running for "purple aluminium apple container", and my listing only contains these words but not together. Therefore apple container sits in my title, aluminium is stated in my bullet point and purple is stated in the backed, does this make an exact match campaign less effective than if I have the long tail keyword sitting also exact within my listing?
Hey Sumner, great video once again. is there a way where I can halfway complete my listing and it won't show up on Amazon for anybody to see but I will be able to see it if I type in my Asin? because I don't have all the information for the listing as of yet but I'd like to get it 90% complete without it going live.
Yes, when you create a listing it won't go live until your products arrive at Amazon's warehouse (for FBA) or you actually input available inventory quantity (for FBM). Also, when you click on 'Edit' your product listing, you can see a clickable link that says "View you listing on Amazon" - this way you can preview what it's looking like.
@@SumnerHobart That was awesome, thank you!
The backend of my listing doesn't have the field "subject matter". Is that something to worry about?
Hi Saulo! No, that's fairly common recently. If you don't have it - don't worry about it. If you do have it - use it.
One thing I’m confused about is phrases vs key words ? So if I’m listing a “tall red shoe “
Do I put tall red show on my title and then in backend put red, shoe, tall ...etc? Or do I have to put phrases or do I completely not put those words anywhere else ? Thanks ! Hopefully that makes sense !
Update 2 min later you clarified my question at the end of the video! Haha thank you this video is very good
Thx for the vid but would do better if u can show on screen how to do what u said!
Thanks for that! I'll put this in consideration for an upcoming video.
Can (should) I put keywords already in my Bullet Points and Description into Search Terms?
If not, should I save the good keywords for Search Terms over Buller Points and Description?
Hi Huy! I recommend taking your second highest-search keywords NOT already used in your title in your backend. If you repeat unintentionally that's totally fine just don't try to repeat the same keyword multiple times with limited space.
I don't even have a subject matter field, just the search terms. You know what's up with that? Also, do you really wanna put the top searched terms with 100k+ searches per month and tons of competition, or it's better to narrow it down to like 10k searches a month and less competition? And regarding the phrases, are they really recognized in the optimization of the search terms? Or you want to cram as many individual words that are present in highly searched phrases? Thank you and I just subbed!
Hi Bibi! 1. if you don't have the subject matter field don't worry about it. Just optimize it if you have access. 2. Less competitive, long-tail keywords are made up of a series of individual words. These individual words also make up shorter, more competitive phrases as well. You generally want as many relevant keywords in your listing as possible so you even have the potential of ranking. Once you have keywords in your listing re-arrange/ add keywords to where you also have longer tail phrases as well. Hope this helps!
@@SumnerHobart cool, thanks a lot!
my listing is not indexed , what can I do to indexed my listing
Is your listing A) not indexed at all for a particular keyword or B) not ranking on the first page for a given keyword? If you're not indexed for a particular keyword make sure that keyword is somewhere in your listing. If you're not ranking you need to drive sales for that keyword. I hope this helps!
@@SumnerHobart I have put keyword in title bulletbpoint , description , backend still I am not indexed , so what can I do get my listing indexed
@@rocknikhiljai Do keyword research and put them in your listing. Then check by H10 5K checker that is indexed or not.
@@rocknikhiljai I will help you to improve your listing.
