You're so right about standing firm about the prices. Let them go elsewhere. Discounts always bring on regret and people who get discounts tend to be more demanding.
Your cookies are outstanding. I'm a beginner and realise how time consuming this is! Each cookies takes concentration and the overheads and cleaning the kitchen mess is a different story! 😁
You’re so right about the clean up! It’s something we often don’t think about as “work”, but it sure takes up a lot of time. Not to mention the wear and tear on appliances and the kitchen in general!
Hello, I have a question I’m hoping you can help me with please. I am making my labels for my granola, bags etc. I am using white matte labels (actually sticker paper). I am cutting them out with my Cricut machine. Being that most of my products have some type of oil in them, whether it be from adding oil or from the nuts, I am concerned that the label will become greasy. My other concern is that the print on my labels will smear because I am printing them using an inkjet printer. With all of that being said, does anyone have any tips for this or what do you do? I have been applying clear contact paper to the labels, and then cutting them out. This is a bit much for each label, and I’m hoping it isn’t necessary. I saw on a RUclips video where someone uses Krylon UV Resistant Clear Acrylic Coating. I am hesitant to use this as I don’t want it to come in contact with the food product while being eaten. I know weather-proof stickers are an option, but they are so expensive and I am trying to keep cost down. Sorry to go on so long, but I wanted to give a clear explanation of my issue. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
THANK YOU for this video. I made Ghost Buster cookies for my sons 5th birthday and now all of a sudden I have my first 3 orders! Very detailed, loved the video and again, THANKS! 🤗
New here, never found a video explaining in details and I'm glad I found it. I'm 3 years in this cookie decorating world and only made it a business recently. Now that I have an idea on pricing, I'm definitely taking your advice and working my prices to suit.
Welcome to the sweetie fam, Kerry! Do you have an Instagram? I’d love to check out your work if you want to share :). I’m so glad you found this video useful. Happy baking 🥰
I appreciate you making this video. I am doing a lot of research because my fiancé’s cookies are banger and I have so much confidence in her and I want us to start a business
I've just started doing cakes and I'm undercutting at the moment but after watching videos and so many of you bakers saying don't do discounts I have to put my foot down now. I've thought of the cookie side of things and may give it a go in a few month's time, thanks for your tips, it's all very valuable.
I love your channel thank you so much for doing this. You mentioned in one of your videos you've been doing this for more than 10 years and I feel so lucky to be able to see and learn already 10 years of experience by watching your videos and with practice of course I want to reach your level of artistry. Love love love your content!
I love watching your videos they inspire me to keep my own baking dreams! You are so informative in this video and I appreciate your time! I know it’s valuable.
Honestly, if you ever decide to open up a workshop about cookie business 101 and some tips and tricks to save time. I will 100 percent fly from Texas to wherever you are just to attend and pay to be in that class!
You will need a business license and depending on your state and local laws may need to rent a commercial kitchen. In a lot of states you cannot bake from your home kitchen as it's used for personal cooking as well. A separate kitchen in the home may be acceptable if it's only used for commercial uses.
I started to sell my cookies and at the beginning I wasn't sure if I was charging the right price. Thank you so much for the video. Your piping it is so so perfect 👌🏿. How do I improve me piping skills. Thank you 🤗 💚
Thank you so much for all your amazing information I learned something from what you were saying about the pricing when I would buy ingredients I would just double the price and sometimes making a cake would take me 3 Days or more . not worth it ..so thank you for all your advice I'll keep it in mind next time I'm pricing a cake..🌻🌼💗👍
Omg awesome video and wonderful explanation I'm just starting whit the cookies and cakes business haha and I learned to many things with your video thank you so much 😁
By the way I know it's not my idea but I think I'm gonna make my own stencil with cricut I just saw the one you used and I was thinking maybe I can make my own and charaaan tons of videos how to create them.....I try to price my cookies yesterday like you said and the lady never answered me back hahaha
First I have to say your cookies are absolutely gorgeous God bless your talent I am a new baker starting out same thing I am not sure what to charge for cookies right now because I don’t know any better I’ve been charging $25 a dozen I don’t know if that’s too much? But I do work full-time I am trying to make and build my baking business literally painstaking slow you need money to make money so sometimes I only do a few orders I would like to get it really going again I am not a professional still learning basic
Thank you very much for your kind words. I would say if you’re still very new then $25 a dozen is fair still. It still takes ingredients, time to get those ingredients and time to decorate them.
Hi. I love your videos because they're so helpful. My question about pricing is: How do I factor pricing for different size cookies? Do I need to charge more if the cookie is bigger like 4in or 5in or more because it's small like 2in and it might be more difficult to work with? Thanks!
If it isn't a stock order (for example, a packet of mini cookies), then I generally like to keep my cookies around the same size because a smaller cookie doesn't necessarily mean 'less work'. If a customer really wants a particular sized cookie, I still maintain the same prices because for cookies, it's mostly about time rather than a small increase in the amount of product. Hope that helps, Wendy!
Here are some of my tips for freezing/storing items: ruclips.net/video/wpdZOSzRGKA/видео.html I have browned my butter for sugar cookies before and I will often add powdered flavourings like espresso powders or earl grey. I tend to shy away from less natural flavourings like extracts (other than vanilla) as I'm not a fan of the synthetic flavour as much.

Honestly, if I felt the labels were integral for my product, I would just buy them in bulk even though they're a bit more costly. You can always try to offset the cost a bit by adding this into your product cost. That's just me though--always looking for ways to increase efficiency and my free time where I can!
I really need help I have a baby shower cookie order of "medium size cookies" when i made them which are about 3-3.2 inches I feel like its too small? Like the baby bottle looks so small For $3 per cookie? How much would you charge? And also what size is a medium size cookie to you? Please help
So hard to say as I can’t see the cookie detailing...also “medium size” is incredibly vague. Don’t worry though-if you feel you can’t charge what you originally quoted just bring down the price a bit. No bakery in my area sells even stock cookies for less than $3.50 so I began to set that as my minimum, but I was also super clear if my cutters were small and usually customers would either accept the small sizing or opt for something else. Let me know what you decide!! 💕
@@SweetDreamsBakeShoppe unfortunately I feel that i priced it very low for $3 per cookie which varied from 3 inches- 4 inches with more than "simple" icing

Hi, what is an acceptable average amount of time for the actual decorating of sugar cookies? For mid range designs?
How do you package your cookies for shipping and how do you factor in the cost of shipping?
Great question! I will make a video regarding this topic. Thanks for the idea 🥰
