It’s even more impressive when you realize they do not have public trash cans anywhere. People are expected to hold on to trash until they get home or to the office. But one time we came across a public trash can in a remote wooded area of a park (not in a big city) and it was an overflowing mess!

honestly most of the Japanese rules are just common universal rules about good manners, it's sad that so many adults need reminders on very basic manners (that transcend cultures, like doing a lot of what is seen on the "don't do in Japan" booklet is stuff you would not do in your own country.. being a tourist doesn't give you a right to misbehave).

Everything in Japan is so beautiful and appealing to me, I'm a minimalist and love small living areas and clean places, and I love technology... Just looks so nice, I'm sure my caveman Western ways seem primitive to them if I went there, but I'd try my hardest to give respect and listen carefully to the people there! This country deserves respect.

If I ever am financially stable enough to travel outside of the US, I would definitely do my research but it would be refreshing to know first hand what that countries etiquette is so I wouldn’t be disrespectful. • @starskunk

Technically, it's not 'complimentary' per se - it's a small 'cover' charge that's added to your bill usually, think of it as you pay a small fee to get a seat at the izakaya, but in return, you get a small appetizer for it.

This is like a restaurant I visited recently in my city in the USA. Everything about it was totally normal except they had robots (basically just a tray holding shelf that rolled itself around) bringing the food from the kitchen to the table. But a human waiter still took the food from the robot and put it on the table, and the robot was not used at all to help clean up the table when we were finished. The restaurant was small too, so the robots weren’t even that necessary. I can’t imagine they are saving the owners any money, and they are hardly making things easier for the staff either.

All I could think of when I saw the tiny robot dancers was it would be cool to have a bunch of tiny Jet Jaguars singing and dancing.

Nobody would get me into this place. I'd rather cuddle up in my jacket under a brigde.

the little dancing robots are cute. and ill be honest, i may not speak for everyone but i think why those of us at least in the us dont use the tubs often is because they are agrivating. they arent shaped in a way that is comfortable unless its an expensive model, and most are one size fits most. you have to clean them, which a lot of us dont often have time for when we get home from work, and more often than not it does tend to just be preferance. i know at least in my house we had to actually break the drain plug in our shower/tub in the bathroom i use because it was impossible to clean out the clogs of hair otherwise. my parents have a tub in their bathroom that has hot tub jets but it uses so much hot water that it quickly turns cold so rarely used

My favorite japanese dish is ramen, especially curry ramen which I always order whenever goes to japanese restaurant. Yoshinoya is one of the fastest growing fast food chain in my country, Indonesia. And you're right, their beef bowls is delicious (and I also like their karaage rice set. it's cheap and comes with salad and free flow ocha)
