I'm 38 and would play this game because back in the day when I was very young I absolutely loved playing Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion.
I've never heard of "Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion". Looks exciting.
@@mojo3318 There was a series of three or four titles for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive called "Illusion". Castle of Illusion was the first. The series had a small revival in the late 00s and early 10s with a crossover with Epic Mickey in the DS (or 3DS, I don't remember) and a Castle of Illusion remake. (You can still find this one on Steam.)
World of illusion had this rope move at 1:02, so at least someone on the Dev team has played it.

@@BNK2442 Four? I only remember Castle of Illusion and World of Illusion. Maybe you are mixing it up with other 16 bit Disney platformers like Quackshot, Mickey Mania, Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow. Those weren't part of the Illusion series.
Back in the days, Disney's platformers were among the best.
Disney’s Illusion Island has the things I like in platformer games. Finding secret passages using unique abilities and overcoming obstacles with teamwork. Mickey and Minnie hugging is a nice touch.
The only thing I'm really worried about is the length of the game - if we gotta rescue three books, that means there ought to be three worlds, right? I just hope each one is about the length of a world in a New Super Mario Bros. game.

Actually, it's a spiritual successor to the Illusion series. The rope mechanic is straight out of World of Illusion.

I wouldn't call it spiritual sequel if it wasn't made by Ubisoft. They just inspired by Rayman Legends gamestyle

Definitely feels like a slightly slower paced Rayman and I'm here for it. Legends was 10 years ago at this point and I've been pretty disappointed that ubisoft never picked up the series properly again after that and origins were total bangers.
The hug mechanic made my day.
I wish they would release a Mickey Mouse Illusion Collection with all four previous games.
Also include the 2013 remake of Castle of Illusion.

Always love a good platformer. It's what made consoles popular in the first place. On a critical note, I think they made the characters too small. Would have liked to see them a bit bigger.

I like that Mickey has black dots for eyes, it looks so much better than the human-like eyes they use in newer Disney stuff sometimes.

It's likely a successor of sorts to that game. In fact, any sort of Mickey Mouse Illusion game is a sequel to Castle of Illusion in everything but name.

This looks like Rayman Legends and I am ALL for it. That game was amazing, so I’m actually really interested in this one.
The animated shorts that this game seems to be based on, are FANTASTIC. Amazing art, and very funny stuff.
I'm not super fond of the art style but the platforming looks fun. I'll wait for the reviews (and comments to the reviews of course) and get it if it looks good.

I think this is more like a classic jump and run á la Rayman, than a Metroidvania.

it's not Epic Mickey 3 but it's definitely the step in the right direction
seriously after Disney Infinity the most we get are mobile games and casual focused games like Dreamlight Valley.
If Illusion Island is successful, I hope this drives them to branch out and produce more Disney games in different genres 🤞

I'm not really a Disney fan but this looks like a high quality game.
It's a callback to the Illusion series, that was popular in the 16 bit era. Back then, Disney platformers were top notch quality.
Castle of Illusion, World of Illusion, Mickey Mania, Quackshot, Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow, Ducktales 1 and 2, Darkwing Duck, Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers 1 and 2, Aladdin, the Lion King were fantastic games.
The gameplay also like Rayman Origin and Rayman Legends from Ubisoft. Those time were a blast.

You can't have a 2D Mickey mouse game without the classical Disney artstyle. The game might be fun but I don't think they should have made it Mickey Mouse themed if they couldn't pull off the art style. They should have got the artists who did cuphead for this.
They could of also added Oswald for dlc or just to be a new playable character

Yeah. It much slower and not much smooth as Rayman. Still its a good game
