I think my biggest question about this game is about our main characters here. Are they Koppaites or Hocotatians? They have many of the physical features of Koppaites, and the fact that Oatchi doesn’t really look like how Bulbie was shown in pikmin 1. I’m leaning towards Koppaite, but at the same time, they have more pointed ears like Hocotatians. They also seem to be hunting for treasure like Olimar and Louie did. Lastly, their spacecraft design seems to be relatively chikdlike and simple much like the S.S. Dolphin as opposed to the more realistic and complex design of something like the S.S. Drake. Again, I think they’re Koppaites, but some conflicting evidence could prove otherwise.
Don't forget the writing on the ship! Despite the ship itself looking more "hocotate-like", the letters on it are like the ones from Koppaï! (Though they don't seem to make up an actual word🤷♀️)

@@ronterzi2540 you could be right. Would definitely be interesting. If they are, it makes me wonder about things such as their dietary requirements, planet atmosphere, wildlife, etc. You definitely raise a good point!
This looks amazing, so glad that caves are coming back, my only concern is the oversaturated and plastic-y new look of the environments and pikmin. We've been waiting a decade for this, let's hope that they make it work.
@@etoyocc8556 I think that the environments look big and beautiful from what we've seen so far, I just wish there was more deep greens and natural hues like in the previous games rather than the brighter colours.
Just noticed Pikmin can loose flowers again, neat. Also, I love the new mechanics behind Ice Pikmin, being a replacement for bitter spray, while being decently balanced by the fact that they earn no benefit themselves. I say this because when defeating creatures, the Ice Pikmin are unable to gain additional sprouts off of an encounter, given that the enemy shatters apart upon defeat.
These graphics are amazing and I am extremely happy to see that it’s like everything we’ve seen together but all mashed up and it looks like it’s done so well! All the new features and characters are also really great! We need pikmin 5 now lol
My prediction is that this game will be about colonizing PNF-404 and the "castaways" will be people that you can recruit to stay and work on building the colony. The big space shuttle at the end looks like where the center of the colony will be. I think the reason so many people are scattered around the planet is because the koppaites or hocotations were trying to send mass amounts of people to the planet, but in classic pikmin fashion the ship crash-landed and sent everyone flying. So now they have to regroup. I believe they were trying to make a vacation spot eventually as Charlie says something along those lines in pikmin 3 if I'm not mistaken. Sidenote: I think the dog thing is olimars dog that he writes about in pikmin 1 Edit: I was wrong, olimars dog is named bulbie, and this dog is named oatchi
Judging by the color of the main characters suits, i think they are rescue/medics trying to save all the people that went to the planet due to a big "gold rush", like the word spread about pnf being full of treasures and now a lot of people went there to get rich (since we see a castaway in a cave he was probably trying to get some treasure and his Pikmin got eaten leaving him alone)
PNF-404 is confirmed to be toxic to hoccatians. That’s why Olimar had limited time to repair his ship in the first game. Highly doubt it’s about colonizing but much like we’re planning to have moon/mars bases maybe they’re trying to set up a base there? Most likely it’s another treasure hunt though
Ah yes lets see how that will turn out. XD Maybe they would walk on water and leave an ice trail. Hope they add that detail. Still the fact all types in Bloom can Jesus on water and not just blues is kinda...Wrong...
@@ThePentagramCross yeah but when non-blue pikmin find their decor gifts in an island what can they do?😂 Besides, I like to think of Bloom's pikmin as domestic pikmin: you can name each one of them, they eventually will dress up with accessories and they're not as good fighters as the wild pikmin from the main games So yeah these pikmin can walk on water xd
I'm so excited! I've waited 10 years for this new game. I've played Pikmin 3 back in 2015, then I played PIkmin 2 and Pikmin 1 in the Wii U, waiting for the fourth one. Now it's finally arriving and it's so beautiful! I'm so happy that Ice Pikmin is confirmed, it's been a prediction of mine!
That disco arachnorb looks insane! I’m going to make a guess that it’s called Raving along Legs! This game looks very charming already and I can’t wait to play it!
I'm so happy they ditched the leg-climbing mechanic from 3. I thought that was seriously the dumbest thing, so it's great to see the old method come back. I'm mixed on the dog creature, love the new Ice Pikmin, and really hate the artstyle of the new captains. (Shephard is the best looking one so far). The story is looking way better than 3 already, returning to treasure hunting and proper exploration. After such a huge letdown (for me personally) with Pikmin 3, I'm really liking how Pikmin 4 is looking to go back to the originals in terms of quality and charm.
I really hope they come up with some infinite modes that generate unique caves and other environments. Probably not likely, but it would be awesome to never run out of game play with reused assets
Feels like we've been waiting for this game for forever. So happy it's real and almost here! Oatchi is absolutely adorable and I'm so glad every other type Pikmin is back! The Queen Bulborb pooping out baby Bulborbs is hilarious!
that would be Empress Bulblax and the Bulborb Larva's, they appeared in Pikmin 2 where Empress Bulblax was a boss in a few dungeons (caves), and in 2 of them she would always spawn those larva's who die in 1 hit, but can be really troublesome if they swarm
Caves are back!!! My favorite mechanic in any Pikmin game by far!! As a die hard fan, it warms my heart more than you know to be able to see this series finally get another AMAZING looking entry.
My heart is so happy, I’m dying to meet our new captains, “Oatchi” and ice pikmin! And the baby snagrets are adorable! Looks like they’re also going to be adding some “quality of life” mechanics so we can focus on our adventure, I can’t wait!!❤️💛💙
And four, count em four captains. I'm hoping they have a 4 player battle mode in this game. Also from the thumbnail it looks like purple white rock and winged pikmin are also returning.
@@VonFirflirch As far as seen they freeze the enemy who ate it, the effect looked similar as the Ultra-bitter spray from Pikmin 2, even with the enemy crumbling and leaving some nectar drops
Im curious why we would have both purple and rock in the game but happy they’re back anyway. Before seeing the thumbnail I thought the ice pikmin were the newer versions of rock.
@@BAE10 Purples: Have carrying strength of 10 Pikmin and are resistant to getting blown away. They also had a stun when being thrown near enemies. Also, their throwing arc in 2 is short, but they homed in on the closest target. Rocks: Can break crystal walls and objects surrounded in crystal. Deal great damage when thrown, but cannot latch onto enemies (unlike Purples). They are immune to being crushed. Only have carrying strength of 1 Pikmin.
Once again Pikmin KNOWS how to optimize its console. Just like how Pikmin 3 looked visually fantastic, Pikmin 4 really brings out the switch’s visual capability. At least imo lol but other than that, SO MUCH HYPE!
This new game is shaping up nicely! While I'm not the biggest fan of the captain designs, I like the Onion design more than the one in the third game (but the ones form the original two are best for me). Also, I adore the Snagret chicks! They make up for having to deal with that terrible monster in the first game. I do hope the new dog doesn't make the game too easy as having Pikmin ride on its back eliminates some of the strategy for getting Pikmin across bodies of water. By the way, the new Long Legs spider's design suggests some equally disturbing lore as the Man-at-Legs. On top of that, I dread to know why the Bulborb's eyes turned a glowing red at the end of the video. It could be another Wraith or something else at least as chilling...
I think the eyes went red because it became night time. We've never been on the surface during the night before because the creatures become extremely hostile at night, so this is us actually getting to see what happens!
Probably not gonna happen, but I really like your Wraith idea lol. A wraith parasite that only activates at night could have some very fun implications.
Concerning Oatchi, I doubt the Blue and Ice Pikmin are going to be rendered moot by our new doggo friend. Maybe his buoyancy prevents him from entering Blue only dungeons. Maybe certain pathways require Ice to freeze bodies of water. Can't have a literal game breaking bug as a pet (because aren't Bulborbs supposed to be mutant ladybugs or other insect?)
@@oreomerchant6600 The Plasma Wraith appears in the third game and provides its own unsettling implications for the lore. There is another enemy in Hey Pikmin with Wraith in its name, but it's unrelated to the previous two Wraiths. Curiously, the boss very similar to the Wraiths isn't even called a Wraith at all.
@@MockiN6j4y Huh your right Thanks for changing my prospective I guess I'm worried about change because I just care so much about the series and I don't want a bad mainline pikmin game
Aside from the cute nose-less puppy and ice Pikmin (and the return of the purple sumo Pikmin), I saw two other things that made me happy. Treasures, and what looked like an underground area (similar to those in Pikmin 2). That's two things I've been hoping would return in Pikmin 4. Looks like I might be getting my wish. 😁 The only thing that isn't able to be determined yet is the overall length of the game. I hope it's at least as long as Pikmin 2 (or longer). Because Pikmin 3 was so short that it felt unfinished.
It's like pikmin 2 closely but on steroids and it's been 19 years between pikmin 2 and 4 and this red haired girl reminds me of the female version of Alph but with red hair if you look closely to this girl, and this is the first one in the Pikmin game to have a black character (in which that case other characters are white especially Charlie whom to me is between French or Spanish hence the mustache and the cool manly looks) and the name of this character whom is Shepherd seems to be fitting, I love these characters along with Collin and the guys with brains, I would maybe call him Albert. What do you guys think of the names for these characters, what do you guys want to name these two unnamed characters?
The captain designs are strange especially Colin, he looks so strange yet i also love how absolutely goofy he looks but I'm not sure how i feel about all of them as a whole. It's interesting that three of them stay on land and (presumably) are playable even once night falls.
Pre-ordered and SO ready for more news on this game. It's a series that will always hold a special place in my heart. Have been a fan since it first came out.
i like it how for the first time in the series, they actually made it so that you can tilt the camera to a side view so that you can see the whole game world from the characters perspective everything else looks great too. a lot of new additions, but welcome ones. this game is going to be great
a few of the animations look like they still need a lil polish, but overall i'm quite excited, especially for any more new pikmin that might be revealed in future trailers! my only real concerns are that some of the character and ship designs look like plastic toys instead of just small people and and ships (though this may be because the animations are stiff), and "Oatchi" looks like he'd be more at home in something like a mario galaxy or odyssey sequel, very out of place. also i've just... never been a big fan of the onion redesigns, you can't beat the originals
@@bentaylor4203 yea there's no way it's a native animal either way, i just feel it steps a lil too far outside the usual design philosophy most things in pikmin follow
I'm currently playing the first three Pikmin games to work my way up to this one and I'm having a blast. And this one comes out two days before my birthday. What an awesome surprise!
I'm loving everything here so far. The change in camera angle really makes it feel more immersive than ever before. Interesting to see that caves may be returning as well. Plus the dog and the Ice Pikmin look to be a great new addition!
I don't think the new camera angle would've worked in the old small levels because you'd be able to see most of the level too soon but it looks like the levels are bigger in this game so the new camera angle probably helps make sure the size increase doesn't make the game a nightmare to navigate. Seems cool. Also, I think the old camera angle was partially used to optimize the game by not having to model as much of the world. You can sometimes see the background a little bit in Pikmin 1 & 2 during scenes/dialogue & it looks absolutely primitive in comparison to the amazingly designed stuff you're supposed to be looking at.
Oh sure, I feel tears of the kingdom with this is a nice voucher idea. No real point not using a voucher if buying digital versions of tears which I wish nintendo was honest about $70 to sell the voucher.
In the older GameCube pikmin days, camera angle was EVERYTHING. I haven't owned a switch. But I can't imagine not having full camera angle control... dark areas need that
I don’t think ice pikmin is an actual type of pikmin because there were ice crystals in 0:31 and in other places that I think you can collect and you feed those crystals to blue pikmin which will turn them into ice pikmin.
I love how insanely good the graphics are. All Nintendo titles are becoming more and more solid and timeless thanks to the inhuman hard work in artistic direction and animation. Especifically this title and Luigi's Mansion looks like an animation movie. All my life have been a Nintendo lover and have appreciated their thecnical muscle in their titles, but i really think that this matter has absolutely exploded in the Switch era. Thanks Nintendo, from the bottom of my heart.

@@jojo9849 very interesting observation! I didn’t even focus on the ship’s writing! With this added info, I think we may just be able to confirm this crew’s Koppaite origins.

Yay I’m not alone
This looks amazing, so glad that caves are coming back, my only concern is the oversaturated and plastic-y new look of the environments and pikmin. We've been waiting a decade for this, let's hope that they make it work.
I think it's bright and joyful
not really oversaturated.
Plus, it is still not the final version, so let's hope it looks better when it does come out!
They will make it work. Let them do their own thing first.
agreed, i really loved how pikmin 3 looked and i hope 4 can live up to the outstanding graphics of the last
@@etoyocc8556 I think that the environments look big and beautiful from what we've seen so far, I just wish there was more deep greens and natural hues like in the previous games rather than the brighter colours.
Unless you kill it with with other pikmin
@@ThePikminCaptain thats the point
These graphics are amazing and I am extremely happy to see that it’s like everything we’ve seen together but all mashed up and it looks like it’s done so well! All the new features and characters are also really great! We need pikmin 5 now lol
It was a wait, but I’m all for it. A great summer game.
Sidenote: I think the dog thing is olimars dog that he writes about in pikmin 1
Edit: I was wrong, olimars dog is named bulbie, and this dog is named oatchi
Tha Plasm Wraith been having the time of its life it seems xd
@@dustymcwari4468 fr
Judging by the color of the main characters suits, i think they are rescue/medics trying to save all the people that went to the planet due to a big "gold rush", like the word spread about pnf being full of treasures and now a lot of people went there to get rich (since we see a castaway in a cave he was probably trying to get some treasure and his Pikmin got eaten leaving him alone)
To me I thought the 1st castaway kinda looked like Louie
PNF-404 is confirmed to be toxic to hoccatians. That’s why Olimar had limited time to repair his ship in the first game. Highly doubt it’s about colonizing but much like we’re planning to have moon/mars bases maybe they’re trying to set up a base there? Most likely it’s another treasure hunt though
I can't wait to see how they'll implement ice Pikmin into Pikmin bloom!
Ah yes lets see how that will turn out. XD Maybe they would walk on water and leave an ice trail. Hope they add that detail. Still the fact all types in Bloom can Jesus on water and not just blues is kinda...Wrong...
@@ThePentagramCross yeah but when non-blue pikmin find their decor gifts in an island what can they do?😂 Besides, I like to think of Bloom's pikmin as domestic pikmin: you can name each one of them, they eventually will dress up with accessories and they're not as good fighters as the wild pikmin from the main games
So yeah these pikmin can walk on water xd
How about the Puppy?
The dog reminded me of Bulby from the first game.

That disco arachnorb looks insane! I’m going to make a guess that it’s called Raving along Legs! This game looks very charming already and I can’t wait to play it!
Honestly looks like a glowing mushroom
I'm so happy they ditched the leg-climbing mechanic from 3. I thought that was seriously the dumbest thing, so it's great to see the old method come back. I'm mixed on the dog creature, love the new Ice Pikmin, and really hate the artstyle of the new captains. (Shephard is the best looking one so far). The story is looking way better than 3 already, returning to treasure hunting and proper exploration. After such a huge letdown (for me personally) with Pikmin 3, I'm really liking how Pikmin 4 is looking to go back to the originals in terms of quality and charm.
Raving Long Legs! I love it! xD
Disco long leg is the name everyone use now
...I wonder if rock pikmin would be ideal against it.
I really hope they come up with some infinite modes that generate unique caves and other environments. Probably not likely, but it would be awesome to never run out of game play with reused assets
I am totally excited for this game, we’ve waited this for so long
Sound design is on another level, what a wonderful game

I do wonder what Ice pikmin will do to be different from whites, if they also have an effect when getting eaten
@@BAE10 Because purple and rock are cute in different ways. We need both.
@@BAE10
Purples: Have carrying strength of 10 Pikmin and are resistant to getting blown away.
This looks great Ice Pikmin makes so much sense it being one of the most iconic elements out there cool to see Empress Bulblax makes her return.
this mean her husband emperor Bulblax will return too
Once again Pikmin KNOWS how to optimize its console. Just like how Pikmin 3 looked visually fantastic, Pikmin 4 really brings out the switch’s visual capability. At least imo lol but other than that, SO MUCH HYPE!

You can not “used” to be one anymore 😁
Might be a spatoon-pikmin linkage
@@oreomerchant6600 The Plasma Wraith appears in the third game and provides its own unsettling implications for the lore. There is another enemy in Hey Pikmin with Wraith in its name, but it's unrelated to the previous two Wraiths. Curiously, the boss very similar to the Wraiths isn't even called a Wraith at all.
Nintendo, this Game better not be short, it better be longer as expected.

Everyone is talking about Otachi and the new ice pikmin. Meanwhile, I’m losing my mind over the little snagrets.
2:56 It's either using glowy eyes to find food, mind-controlled, or not a bulborb at all.

@@soniaruns I have a feeling they're gonna bring back caves from Pikmin 2
It's like pikmin 2 closely but on steroids and it's been 19 years between pikmin 2 and 4 and this red haired girl reminds me of the female version of Alph but with red hair if you look closely to this girl, and this is the first one in the Pikmin game to have a black character (in which that case other characters are white especially Charlie whom to me is between French or Spanish hence the mustache and the cool manly looks) and the name of this character whom is Shepherd seems to be fitting, I love these characters along with Collin and the guys with brains, I would maybe call him Albert. What do you guys think of the names for these characters, what do you guys want to name these two unnamed characters?
pikmin 3 had dlc, battle mode and challenges
The captain designs are strange especially Colin, he looks so strange yet i also love how absolutely goofy he looks but I'm not sure how i feel about all of them as a whole. It's interesting that three of them stay on land and (presumably) are playable even once night falls.
This series needs more attention imo
Nighttime mode seems like something that would be there for when the captains leave, and the Pikmin are left to fend for themselves.

Bold of them to announce the 2023 Game of the Year like this
I don't know what it is, but damn it the piano gets me all misty-eyed every time.
I've seen this trailer so many times... I love this series so much.
a few of the animations look like they still need a lil polish, but overall i'm quite excited, especially for any more new pikmin that might be revealed in future trailers! my only real concerns are that some of the character and ship designs look like plastic toys instead of just small people and and ships (though this may be because the animations are stiff), and "Oatchi" looks like he'd be more at home in something like a mario galaxy or odyssey sequel, very out of place. also i've just... never been a big fan of the onion redesigns, you can't beat the originals
I share the same thoughts
True, but I do think they will build upon that with later trailers. This is suppose to come out in July.
I'm thinking Oatchi might be from the same planet as the player characters, their design is much different than the Pikmin planet's creature.

Notes, 3 original color pikmin, 2 from pikmin 2, 2 from pikmin 3 and 1 variant pikmin+ the 1 new pikmin type. This total of 8 to 9.
Oh sure, I feel tears of the kingdom with this is a nice voucher idea. No real point not using a voucher if buying digital versions of tears which I wish nintendo was honest about $70 to sell the voucher.
