  • Hear from Lori as she describes the updates to the Brooks Dyad 11, called the Ghost Max. Its another long line of shoes trying to ride the HOKA train, so unfortunately its an update that doesn't make the list. Lori describes and shows why this shoe isn't on our list and in general why these types of shoes may not be the best for you, if you are struggling with a PRI program.

    Great point about shoes following Hokas. I recently purchased Altra torin 7 and in less 30 days, I was finding myself leaning back, increase pelvic pain, with forward head posture developing pretty quickly. Altras that are coming out with unstable shoes. You feel unstable, rigid toe box,and leaning back a lot.

      We have looked at the Altras and a few years back they had a few that had decent heel counters (the ProVision and the Paradigm were the best). Unfortunately the Torin was never a good shoe. The toe box is great for those with wider feet, however we found that a lot of people who struggle to find their heels on the ground struggle even more with the zero drop shoe (it functions a lot like the rocker heel so prominent now esp with the Hokas). However some really found it very helpful to get their heels down. In general, the Altras can be good for some people, but we had enough issues with them that we can't recommend them on our list and a general rule. Thanks for asking....

    Doctors of Running recommended me Saucony Echelon 9 and Brooks's Ghost Max 2 (this one not yet available) to replace the Dyad

    This is so unfortunate considering that I am someone that works healthcare with a wide foot and I’ve been buying the dyad every six months for the past 2 1/2 years because of an injury that I had from working in healthcare, I had to have orthotics made, which didn’t help I had MRIs X-rays physical therapy and the Brooks dyad relieved my foot problems finally and it’s very sad to see that they are changing it to something completely different especially as someone that wears an extra wide, has a size 11 foot after pregnancy and I’m about 6 feet tall. I love the neutral feel of the insoles and wished that I could just buy those. Crocs are My House shoes because they also have helped but I could never imagine trying to work in them.

    What about the asics 2000 11?

  • @mddruns

    ANother question: does it matter if you are running versus walking. In other words, does a "rocker" shoe have the same negative effects if you were running fast in them?

    • @HruskaClinic
      @HruskaClinic  8 месяцев назад

      The same sort or mechanics apply with running vs. walking. For many people, they still will show increased hip flexor activity and reduced hamstring activity (as demonstrated with objective PRI testing). Some people obviously do very well with this sort of shoe, so as always, each individual will react differently. This is why these rocker shoes are on our list for a certain population and not recommended for everyone.

    I love your videos! Could you recommended a shoe that is similar like the Dyad?

    • @HruskaClinic

      WE haven't found a shoe yet that replaces the Dyad in terms of the liner and shape that really allowed good sense of the floor (the Ghost Max is waaay different than the Dyad. Right now the best shoe that gives a similar sense of the floor is the ASICS Kayano 30, but it has more arch control and a little more cushion in general. If you find something that comes close to that Dyad let us know!

    Hi, great video. In the video Lori mentioned she wouldn't recommend running in Dyad 11s, but she didn't say why? Also in the brooks website under supination shoes they recommend Dyad 11 (discontinued ) and Ghost 14 (ghost 15 has been released). Any recommendations for Dyad 11 replacement for running in the brooks lineup? I'm stuck with brooks cause I wear 4e
    Thank you😊

      The primary reason we liked the Dyad 11 as a PRI shoe was the sense of the floor it gave with its unique liner. So we didn't look at it as a running shoe, tho I am sure it would be fine to run in. As far as Brooks shoes, the Ghost 15 would be the other choice as a neutral shoe (over the Glycerin 20 as it is more of a rocker shoe) and would be recommended. I think we will have a new replacement for the Dyad soon, keep an eye out for the new shoe list coming out in a few weeks.

      This is awful news as I use orthotics and love the Dyad for running.

    This is a bit confusing are you commenting on the Brooks Dyad 11 or the Brooks Ghost Max?

    • @HruskaClinic
      @HruskaClinic  8 месяцев назад +2

      The Brooks Dyad (which we like and has been on our list) is being replaced by the Brooks Ghost Max which is a much different shoe and will not be on our list for Postural Restoration approved shoes.

      @@HruskaClinic which brooks shoe do you recommend for mild medial sesamoiditis or bursitis in all toes

    • @HruskaClinic
      @HruskaClinic  8 месяцев назад

      @@brianswrx I know its hard to understand but we are not recommending shoes for feet issues. We recommend shoes to assist with helping your body stay in a position (neutrality) that may should help reduce the reasons you may be having issues. In your case the answer is, it depends on what your body needs to keep your center of gravity from over stressing your toes. That's the purpose of out list.
