I'm not real clear on your question, but will try to answer. If you have two fluorescent light fixtures, they are independent of each other. Each fixture would have it's own ballast and if they are really old fixtures they might have a starter.

Nice, havent seen a T12 tube in years, but of course equally applicable to any fluro tube. Most shorter ones I've seen, the connector bends slighly to release the tube as opposed to the hole.
The light fixtures were removed from a job about 15 years ago, I saved them from the dumpster. They were great to hang in the basement. I suppose the ballasts are getting towards the end of their life.
They can be tricky to remove. Without being there and seeing what's going on, I don't have any additional advice. Sometimes I've had to make a few attempts before I can remove a bulb.
Thank you, I am so freaking lucky that I didn’t damage the first bulb i ever replaced it with. Couldn’t find instructions from the manufacturer of Hood light (Aqueon 😒 Seriously the website has no instructions for replacing a bulb!) The light was actually brand new, But this was going to be a planted tank so obviously the bulb it came with wouldn’t be sufficient. My mother got an indoor plant light from the hardware store because we knew it would be cheaper, Unfortunately the light turned out to be purple. -She lost the receipt 🫠 I basically just pulled the tabs appart to remove the light, I’m sure there is some damage, and not just to the pins. It was incredibly to put a light back in as you would imagine, I managed it though. The light flickered for a split second everytime I turned it on or off.. Whoops. Lol, Never had to deal with changing a bulb like this before. My 60 gallon has a Hood, but it’s extremely old, pretty sure that bulb is halogen or something. It’s been going strong for years no bulb changes needed (I’m dreading the day, Not sure i can even find the type i need but I cant afford a brand new light fixture either.)
As for the tank, It’s still not set up. We’re going on a 7-8 Month delay at this point. If nothing else happens that requires my attention and money then My goal is to have at least some progress made by october. Fingers crossed the roof doesn’t collapse before we can get new shingles lol 😭
You make it look very easy! Not your fault but I'm really struggling to refit a a 5ft tube into a ceiling fitting. Looks like I have the wrong sized tube but, apart from that, I'm finding it impossible to fit from a wobbly ladder. Think I will have to get electrician unfortunately.
Some can be difficult to remove, that's why I was careful to show the details. You might try taking a break and try again later or even the next day, that often works for me. Best wishes.
thanks for showing how the pins go in the fixture. so many idiots tell you everything you already know then they just go.... put it in and its done !!!! if I knew how to put it in, I wouldnt need to watch a fkng video

Can you fix a socket after a bulb was removed without rotating the pins? I can't rotate the channel back into the open position to slide a new bulb up into place.
That's interesting. You might try disconnecting power to the light and try spinning the ring back into the correct position. Don't do it with power on.
My problem is that my bulb won't twist out. I can twist it each direction but never far enough for the pin to reach the opening. I don't want to twist further and break the tube or fixture. How do I get the tube out?
The tube went in, so it has to come out. They can be hard to twist. If you are ABSOLUTELY sure that there is no power (unplugged or breaker off), you could try shooting some spray silicone into the lamp holders. Wear heavy gloves & safety glasses. Wipe holders down after the tube is removed.
@@Know-How-Now thx. The pin was so close to the opening and....I twisted it too hard and a tab broke :( I got the bulb out though. Do you think I can use the light this way for today until I get a new one tonight?
