- One of Tennessee's biggest prisons is now under federal investigation, but the state comptroller's office has sent warnings to officials for years that the facility was troublesome.
There should be no private prisons.

@@fribblesnazprivate prisons are nothing but for profit prisons. But dont worry when rhey send you for prison for bs reasons im sure people womt foght for you.
I think ALL jails and prisons need to be federally investigated. Sooo many corrupt officers.
Especially Cheatham County Tennessee.
That's what I'm saying
You’re totally right. They should 100% be investigated for taking good hard working American taxpayers’ dollars to keep these burdens of society alive. What the hell do they think they’re doing!?

I work for Arkansas state dept of corrections. We have the same staffing problems. I am usually responsible for 300 inmates by myself. What it cubes down to is how you treat the inmates. If you treat them like people, they act like people. If you treat them like convicts, they will act like convicts. Training needs to be revamped, there needs to be accountability for actions at all levels of employees, and the policies need to be adhered to

You sound like one of the decent men.
Don't fall for temptation we need you.
That can become an expression of self-fulfilling prophecy. When people are assumed by authority to be "criminally-inclined" and they are treated accordingly, soon they will resent this attitude toward them and act out in a way that confirms the biases of those in power.
Truth told officers that has people skills face not what the fools that get assaulted.
The media actually covering the fact that this is a for profit prison is refreshing. They usually overlook that part.
American prison system, where torture, deprivation and inhumane treatment are standard.
The blame is also on TN state government. And Shelby and Davidson county. Because they privatized the criminal justice system to for-profit businesses

a sweep has occurred.
Counties are not responsible because this is a state prison (although private) not a county jail. If this was a county jail then the blame falls on the county and TN.
@@Daniel.H.Garavaglia I said county AND state facilities. My comment isn’t limited to this story
@@Daniel.H.Garavagliaultimately Tennessee is responsible for inmates
That's most correctional civilities in Tennessee.
Thanks for the report 💫
They should allow weed in prison. Calm it down
Some politician got their hand greased by the company to look the other way. Follow the money and you will know who let this prison go to hell.
They need to be investigating all the county jails too
get lost criminal
Man half of the guards are crooks, half of the prisoners need mental help, meds and Dr's.
A few are innocent.
So the good guards are at risk, the bad guards run the show and the prisoners may as well be goats because nobody cares.
For profit prisons are the problem.
Or part of it at least.
Crooked guards make ut worse.
And we love to complain how other countries treat their prisoners,Russia,Israel and China just to name a few 🇺🇸🤔
No, we talk about how other countries treat American prisoners who are illegally detained.
@@AmandaMack-ok1uv I see you are drinking America’s political stupid juice,we catch theirs and call them terrorist and spies, they catch ours we say they are being illegally detained 🇺🇸🤔

Hopefully, this marks the beginning of a thorough investigation into jails and prisons across both state and federal levels. The current system is not designed to prepare people for reintegration into society or reduce recidivism-if anything, it seems to do the opposite. We have people incarcerated for a range of crimes, and while I’m not suggesting it should be easy, people, especially in America, should be treated with dignity, not like slaves. I was unaware of just how inhumane some of these institutions can be. We have a unique opportunity to help rehabilitate individuals and create better humans. Isn’t that supposed to be the purpose of our correctional system?

Finally !
Twenty three hours lock down one hour out
I spent 18 years in TDOC & they're ALL death traps!
All prisons in TN are under staffed except maybe Morgan county. They don’t pay enough to deal with the pressures, dangers, stress and trauma the COs have to deal with on the daily. Everyone aint built to be a CO. Long hours, divorce and suicide rates are up for COs. They do a job no one really cares for they are law enforcement but get seen as babysitting security guards… its a shit show

If I were worried about how prison treated people, I would just make not to do anything to go to prison.
Private prison. Government pays rent and everything for prisoners.

It was never a nuclear plant. Just the towers were built.
Town of Hartsville went to the federal government to have it stopped. It was.
Stop breaking the law people than you want to have to cry about life behind bars.
This is about private companies running state prisons nutsack
Wonder if William lambert has any stock in the private prison system
Quit giving our money to other countries take care of America Please vote Republican
how bout we fix the tax code, fix policing, increase the level of human rights in the country by adding 6 new amendments, and revamping the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 14th to meet modern standards and to get the constitution in modern compliance.
for example, the 2nd amendment, instead of reading "to bear arms" it would read "absolute right to self defense and defense of others by any means necessary from all threats foreign and domestic."
for another example, the 1st amendment would state in a modern context "right to free speech, freedom to assemble, freedom of movement, freedom to protest grievances, and freedom to express by means of physical, sexual, cultural and scientific."
and a example of a new amendment is "all businesses, corporations and LLCs have to abide by the constitution"
and another example of a new amendment is "congress shall issue balanced budgets"

A prison next to a nuclear plant WTF.
A nuclear plant that was under construction when groups started protesting against nuclear powerplants and was cancelled, leaving it as an unfinished structure.

?is this a private, for profit corporation? No longer a state or federal liability???
??republicans??
According to the state website, four prisons in Tennessee are operated under contract by private corporations, while ten prisons are still operated by the state department of corrections. The private corporation prisons were started after a federal judge placed a limit on how many prisoners could be placed in the existing prisons operated by the department of corrections, and the private prisons were considered to be a less expensive option for building new prisons. While the governor of Tennessee was a republican when the first private corporation prison opened in 1984, it wasn't until 2008 that republicans took a majority of the seats in the state legislature. Many of the political decisions that democrats currently blame on republicans, were actually made when democrats had a solid majority in the state House and had enough votes to block them.
