      Focused on fighting the big battles only the easy ones in select states.They need to clean up their act and get people in there who will fight for every
      Law abiding American
      In Every state of our country with the same
      Determination and perseverance to achieve Our 2nd Amendment Victories

    You're a joy to watch, you're knowledgeable, not only do you "Talk the Talk" but you "Walk the Walk", you don't use foul language, and if you cannot get on with or you dislike a gun you say so, so many younger "RUclips" presenters would be well advised to follow your excellent example and standards.

    Back in the '90's I had a Ruger P89 I bought used and the pistol would not extract a cartridge. I inspected it and found the extractor was jammed out and not in towards breach face. I laid pistol on it's side and pressed a screwdriver against it and it gave way and went in. I found a sliver of brass casing had jammed it open. Someone had traded in the pistol because of this without troubleshooting the problem.

    It is a defense pistol, those failures didn't bode well for Security 9 owners. I wonder if the Ruger was new, and needed a couple of hundred rounds of break in. I know Kahr used to ship at least some models with a warning to fire 200 rounds before considering the pistol broken in. That was years ago though. Multiple misfunctions not good though. I hope Ruger sees this & sends him some pistols to try out.

    I don't know what it is you're doing or what camera/mic you're using to record these videos, but the sound on this video is excellent! Being a sound engineer myself, it's just something I noticed. I've been watching your videos for years, and your videos rarely sound this good! They never sound bad, but this video's sound really stands out! Good job, John! :^)

    I bought it after watching your review, and I've been impressed. Still working on better grouping, but my accuracy is doing better. Got about 200 rounds through it and 0 issues. I also can use the same Fobus passive retention holster I used with my Ruger P95, didn't even have to adjust it.

    One of the big differences between it and the Glock is that the Ruger is hammer fired instead of striker fired. That explains why the slide has to go further back to cock it.

    So far I like the security 9 compact. But I admit I had some accuracy issues at about 15 yards. Then again, still getting used to it, and that rear, u- notch sight. With no jams after about 100 shots or so over two sessions, I think it's a good value!

    An unrelated question for hickok45. What do you think about using snakeshot rounds for Non-Lethal self defense? I use a Ruger 357 to kill snakes with snakeshot rounds. I wonder if they would make a good consealed carry Non-Lethal round for my Smith J-Frame enclosed hammer 38? Please consider doing a video on the use of snake shot rounds of different types on targets with analysis. There are times you don't want to kill your opponent. Just injure them enough to leave you alone. Snake shot might be the answer to this situational problem.

    Kudos to Ruger for designing and selling quality pistols at affordable prices. I am sure the failure to extract issues are specific to that handgun. On a personal note, I notice a manual safety on the Ruger Security 9 Compact just like the Security 9. Not a big fan of manual safeties on concealed carry handguns. I wonder if it has to do with the trigger system? If so, I know my excellent LCPii has the same trigger system but no safety. Curious.

      Their cheap, which doesn't mean bad, but Taurus is literally the worst gun company out there. I've had some lemons. Also had a 605 that I liked, although it had problems immediately and shot loose. I'm not usually one to knock a company on a hand full of specimens, and I really appreciate value guns. But there are so many better options out there around the price of a Taurus. I love interarm era Rossis. In an autoloader I would get a military surplus or police trade, but there are reasonably priced new guns that rival Taurus features, with a fraction of the breakages. Kahrs cw line can be found super cheap, and they are actually a quality gun. The Ruger is a different story. Their common carry guns can be had cheaply as well, but they're rugers.

    • @markfcoble
      @markfcoble 5 лет назад +1

      @@FearScherer Agreed. On mine I polished the feed ramp and changed to stainless steel rod. About 550 rounds so far with no issues. The LCP2 had issue...me. I was hitting mag release. Changed up grip, slightly, and no more me issues. Great little shooter. Polished feed ramp as well. Got a thing about that...

    • @Makinja
      @Makinja 5 лет назад

      That might be why that ruger is much less expensive than some other models: $300+ vs Glock 19 $600. The maker is just doing enough to meet specs so they can't expect it to sell at premium price.

      Makinja The $600 Gen4 Glock came out of the gate with issues too. My G43 did as well.None of the manufacturers are taking the time to thoroughly test stuff anymore. Spit it out of the factory and let the customer test it is the mantra of most all companies these days.

    I have a question about gun maintenance. I appreciated your video about cleaning the 1911, and wanted your opinion about ease of maintenance between various models. I've seen some comments that this or that polymer gun never needs cleaning but I don't buy that. I've been looking at everything from the full size 1911 and G17 to compacts and revolvers. My interest is primarily recreational and partially for home defense. I'm focusing on 9mm because I can handle the recoil and ammunition seems to be affordable, and I've seen some nice handguns of various sizes and shapes in 9mm. Anyway, just wanted to let you know where I was starting and wanted your opinion.
    Thanks for reading.
